Mexico may now want to build a wall

How things can change in just a couple weeks.
This was the xenophobic headline at the start of the month.

Occasionally reality trumps politics.
This is the headline from yesterday.

(Reuters) - Mexico could consider measures at its northern border to slow the spread of the coronavirus into its relatively unaffected territory, health officials said on Friday, with an eye to containing a U.S. outbreak that has infected more than 1,800 people.

Mexico so far has confirmed 16 cases of the coronavirus, with no deaths. In the United States, 41 people have died.

Mexican Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell said contagion from the United States was a threat.

"If it were technically necessary to consider mechanisms of restriction or stronger surveillance we would have to take into account not that Mexico would bring the virus to the United States, rather that the United States could bring it here," he told a news conference."

The irony! It burns!

Now is a good time to point out that Mexico achieved universal healthcare coverage in 2012, with something like a Medicaid-For-All.
Meanwhile, Trump and the GOP are on a mission to gut Medicaid.

...and ends up he may be right. (Joking tongue in cheek)

Lily had funny comment earlier this week that Georgians were buying not only TP but guns. She suggested they must be pretty good shots to nail those virus particles.

6. Every 3 hours public transportation must be cleaned.
7. Visits or attendance at nursing homes are prohibited.
8. Special protocol for visits to social rehabilitation centers.
9. Those who impede the attention of a citizen in a health service will be punished with all the weight of the law.
10. Meetings of more than 30 people are prohibited, cinemas theaters gyms private parties circus functions and all places of mass attendance are restricted.
11. 5 laboratories are enabled in Guayaquil to do the tests. (31 in the country)
12. Obligation for all doctors and health professionals to pass the virtual course on covid 19.

The medical community and the government have been working really hard for weeks to decide how to respond. Seems harsh to some but I don’t doubt the appropriateness.

1. CA Governor Gavin Newsom update:

- Governor is calling for home isolation of all those 65 years or older and those with chronic conditions.

- Bars, Clubs, wineries, breweries will be closed.

- Restaurants: Reducing occupancy by 50%

Biden's campaign is tweeting stuff about voting and telling people it's safe to go out and do it. Unless you don't feel well. This is after Arizona closed over a hundred places because they don't have enough cleaning supplies...therefore putting even more people together in small spaces.

Some states are postponing their primary...

Maybe there is a silver lining here. The virus is more dangerous to older people so maybe they will stay home and this gives Bernie the advantage?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Brianna from Bernie's campaign replied to Biden's tweet telling people it's safe to vote. Neera asked if Bernie's trying to keep people from voting. Brianna replied that Neera just wants to get people infected...

Twitter is having a moment tonight because of all the conflicting advice. But if everywhere is shutting things down then how does it make sense for people to wait in line for hours to vote? Especially if the elderly are most prone to get sick?

Here's one of ByeDone's lies tonight. The media let him get away with it. Shocking I know.

The US, with it's piss-poor response to the pandemic may become a global threat. Noon today cases stood at 3,244.

A total of 16 new imported COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Saturday, which is startling as it was far more than the four new local infections in the Chinese mainland on the same day. As of Saturday, the number of imported cases reached 111. Fortunately, most were identified in time during their entry or subsequent quarantine....

Beijing announced Sunday that, except for exceptional cases, all overseas arrivals need to undergo a 14-day quarantine in designated places, and pay their own expenses starting from Monday....
...
Some people arriving from overseas failed to comply with their commitments to self-quarantine, and the community personnel did not fully supervise those people's isolation. As a result, some went out without restrictions when they had not completed the 14-day quarantine....
...
Centralized quarantine is the best way to battle the coronavirus, particularly when the pandemic has spread almost all over the world and the probability of importing infected cases surges. It is more effective than self-quarantine of overseas arrivals....
