Let one thing be made clear. Not all Ukrainians are Nazis.

Most of them are just like you and me. They simply want to survive in this hostile environment.

There is one significant problem that they are simply pawns (just like the rest of us). This chaotic situation is directly encompassed by the TPTB who want to control the world to their advantage. They are more willing to sacrifice the lives of Ukrainians and Russians in order to maintain the control of events.

It matters little to them whether they crawl in bed with Nazis in the Ukraine, ISIS in Syria and Iraq or their once upon a time buddies (eg the Taliban) in Afghanistan in order to accomplish their desires.

That said I actually have no answers for how this will end except for the desire to see the end of those controlling this sick US empire.

Until then hopefully everyone is having a good day considering the unavoidable circumstances.

that in Germany are taboo — with everyone, from a young age, being psychologically conditioned to avoid them / tense up on seeing or hearing them — become merely ordinary and commonplace again.

No reason to feel anxiety, or entertain complaints that society / the government is not doing enough to suppress thoughtcrime. Examples:

NS = Nederlandse Spoorwegen (the Dutch national railway system)

AH = Albert Heijn (ubiquitous Dutch supermarket chain)

I have no doubt that there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine, and that they are doing bad things. There are a bunch of them in Skokie, IL as well, and I have no doubt that they are doing bad things as well. Are the ones here the sole reason that this country is so fucked up, and are the ones there the sole reason that that country is so fucked up? Nope, and nope. They may be a part of it, maybe even a big part, but they aren't the sole reason.

We the people of the United States Of America are absolute suckers for the Two-Minutes-Hate. So if something is repeatedly presented as cut-and-dried, black-and-white, no-doubt-about-it, and that thing leads to Hate, then I assume that it is part of someone's agenda to bias Joe and Mary Sixpack against it.

The Russians aren't all bad, but we've been told they are The Cause Of All Problems, so we are to Hate them.

Why, exactly? Cui bono?

And now the Nazis are bad, and we are being told that they are the Cause Of All Problems The Russians Missed, so we are to Hate them. And the Chinese, well they are the cause of all the problems the Nazis missed, so we are to Hate them. And so on, down to and including fans of the wrong pro sports team, or people that drink the wrong beer. Here's a label, Hate it for me, willya? There's a good boy...

I know that Nazis are bad, and they do bad things. I do not want to see them rise to power again, anywhere, at any time. However, I am not at all convinced that they are solely responsible for the gravity of the current situation in Ukraine, any more than I believe that the US Government is pure as the driven snow and innocent of any involvement. There is a grain of truth to every story, but along with that grain there is ample opportunity for embellishment and bullshit in service of an agenda.

In this vacuum of information, people with a lot of money and control of the megaphones just *love* to step in and Tell Us What To Think. This is especially effective in cases where some powerful entity believes that we should be distracted from something else to which we really should be paying attention - the Shiny Object theory. Speaking strictly for myself, I'm not ready to see even this situation as black-and-white: there is a lot more nuance than we are being shown.

The real question is whether or not we will be allowed to question *that* inconvenient truth.

On edit: the last couple of paragraphs in Caitlin's column (quoted by Joe in today's Evening Blues essay) address this better than I can.

You would see the power that they have over the government. Zelensky told them to quit the wars in the Donbas and they told him to shut up or die. Lots of sources for that. They are also in the national guard and police departments. There might not be a lot of them, but they have significant power. It’s hard to ignore that.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Extremely important statements by Putin

As some of you know, Putin spoke at length with a group of Russian flight attendants. This is such an important statement that I asked one of our interpreters (thanks E.!) to subtitle the video. I am also posting the transcript below. In this exchange, Putin spells out in quite some details WHAT Russia is doing and WHY she is doing it.

And not all Russians are bad either. I mentioned in another thread recently... my Aunt lived in Moscow in the late 70's or early 80's. Working as an editor for some publication, yes she knew the language. She spoke nothing but the highest praise, and in the most glowing of terms, of the Russian people. She loved her time living there.

I hope some folks in other countries also realize, not all Americans are bad as well.
