Kate Bornstein interviewed (On being a freak)

Diana Tourjee of Broadly interviews my friend Kate.

Kate Bornstein once sailed around the globe as a captain in the sea organization of Scientology Church. She was later exiled and became an underground queer artist, a transsexual icon, and one of the most important gender theorists in the world.

I love Kate. Your essay brought back memories of seeing Kate and Justin Bond perform Kate's play "Hidden a Gender" in San Francisco in the 90s. Afterwards, I had the good fortune of being invited to the cast party where I got to have a lengthy conversation with Kate.
