When to you get settled in Oregon?

I am being rather slothful.
We are boxing up the last of our items. We are at the point of making difficult decisions (hence the slothfulness) about what to do with some of those items. So, if I get "with it" we should be able to be on the road within the next two weeks. The best part, once we are there the "settling in" will go very fast.

When you ask a Nebraskan about the artistically placed boulder on their property they will probably mention Steinbrink's, Earl May's, or maybe a trip to Colorado. If you ask an Oregonian, they might just silently point up the ravine and say, "Gravity did it."
@PriceRip I have only done a drive
I think of Oregon as rugged, beautiful, where the Old West is not that old.
I hope you and yours figure out the basic psyche of the state, and fall in love with it.

Thanks for the positive thoughts.
Hello
, I am RIP, and I am, in fact, from Oregon. I lived in Arizona for six years as I earned my PhD that allowed me to teach in Nebraska for 35 years. It is so nice to finally get to live in my home state again.Boy did you get that right. Far too many people drive through Oregon without really seeing what is there, because they get distracted by the grand view. I hope you had the time to drive off the main roads and around a couple of curves on the "back" roads. If you ever get to SouthWestern Oregon, stop by, I can show you some awesome places to visit. Example: If you are on I-5 driving north out of California take the exit at mile marker 1. That puts you on the old highway 99 through Siskiyou Pass, you won't regret taking this route. As you drop down into the Bear Creek Valley and pass under I-5 there is a very good restaurant on the left. The musicians have been very good as of late. And do leave a good tip, I wouldn't want you to spoil my reputation.
If you (or anyone else here) are (is) interested my brother has photographed most of the waterfalls of western Oregon's.
@PriceRip I didn't realize you
If I decide to make the rounds and see the country again, I will give you a heads up, we can share a meal and a brew, and I can hide my jealousy about your state being so much more beautiful than my TexASS.

The Llano Estacado are a real pain in the eye.
I understand there are some very nice places in Texas, somewhere. How's that for damning with faint praise or my dad's solecism "feigning with damp praise".
Some of my earlier articles were about all that. With way too much information I suppose. I am not one for "toning it down" when describing my favorite places.
@PriceRip Texas has some
I do live at the edge of Sam Houston National Forest, and have spent many days of my life riding a horse through the woods. I no longer do that for fear of coming up on a meth cook, or pot field. My horses can't outrun a bullet.

That Meth thing is an issue in Oregon as well.
But at least the pot situation has mellowed a bit in Oregon.
I have avoided Interstate drives for some time.
And now that they collapse in flames, I think it was a good but slothful decision. If I am lucky, can exit or enter my 900' driveway, today, foot in cast I was unlucky, another tree down. Ruined my already perilous mood of the day. Horsed it off by myself, getting my cast wet. Again.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
