Judge grills Mueller team on claim Manafort lied; prosecutors say issue's 'at heart' of Russia probe

Well, this is a surprise. I wonder if the Dims landed a renegade judge who isn’t buying or seeing any evidence to backup their claims? And does that mean someone is going be making her rulings based on common sense and a firm grasp of the laws involved here? If it does, then this will be the first time. Manafort is a tax dodging snake oil salesman, not 007. Or even Maxwell Smart.

Judge grills Mueller team on claim Manafort lied; prosecutors say issue's 'at heart' of Russia probe

A federal judge grilled Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team earlier this week on its claims that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort intentionally lied to investigators, according to a newly released, partially redacted court transcript released Thursday.

Manafort, who avoided a second trial in Washington, D.C., last year by agreeing to cooperate with investigators, allegedly lied to prosecutors about five separate topics, including Manafort’s contact with administration officials; information “pertinent to another Department of Justice investigation,” and a $125,000 wire transfer to a firm working for Manafort.

But at the closed-door hearing on Monday, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson repeatedly and bluntly pressed prosecutors to explain why Manafort's misstatements, including some that he corrected voluntarily, should affect his upcoming sentencing.

The judge, who is also handling the ongoing criminal case against Trump associate Roger Stone, openly wondered whether prosecutors had bombarded Manafort with a series of difficult and irrelevant questions during the roughly 50 hours of interviews that followed his plea deal.

"I mean, basically what you're saying is, you were just asking about something and it turned -- it snowballed into a series of false statements," Jackson said. "But was there something about his -- if I agree with you that he was lying about that, that was material to what you were doing? What was the importance of asking him about the payment in the first place?"

Jackson later told Manafort's lawyers she wasn't entirely convinced by their argument that his "succession of inconsistent explanations" could be chalked up to confusion caused by accounting practices, adding that "there's some aspects of the evidence I'm going to need to re-review."

Whoo hop!!! Someone FINALLY asked the RIGHT question:

if I agree with you that he was lying about that, that was material to what you were doing? What was the importance of asking him about the payment in the first place?"

The Dims must be soiling their drawers about now.

...and other process slime to hound and persecute defendants. Then, he showboats his indictments like a sidewalk game of three-card monte in order to distract and confuse the facts and context for the news media.

I have ONE issue. The nation has ONE issue:

Did Trump collude with Putin to manipulate the 2016 Presidential election so that he would win?

I, personally, do not give a shit what Manafort did four years ago on his tax return. I don't care what Papadopoulos said to the FBI while they were waterboarding his ass. I don't care whether Flynn or Butina or Jared or the current members of AIPAC or the entire news team of RT ...somehow overlooked a rarely enforced and dickish rule and did not file the proper form declaring that they are foreign agents. (Butina just graduated from American University in DC with a degree in foreign affairs, with Susan Rice as her advisor — and she didn't know she was supposed to file this form. Now she is being tortured in solitary confinement.)

The DOJ has an obligation to tell that legal shill, Mueller, to do his job, answer the question, and stop dicking around trying to cover up the real crimes committed in this case — while on the People's dime:

Did anyone Mueller has defamed and persecuted, in his bait-and-switch indictment game, collude with Russia to manipulate the 2016 Presidential election to make Donald Trump the winner?

....does that mean someone is going be making her rulings based on common sense and a firm grasp of the laws involved here? If it does, then this will be the first time.

If U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson uses common sense and follows the letters of the specific and current laws pertaining to evidence and discovery — then she would be denounced as an activist judge.

Because this is how totalitarian rule has transformed the United States of America.

Mueller contends that Manafort lied about the number of times he and Kilimnik discussed the topic, the description of which is mostly redacted in the transcript

Judging by previous court filings the topic at issue appears to be a “Ukrainian peace plan” that was reportedly aimed at lifting U.S. sanctions on Russia ― long an important objective of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government.

Andrew Weissmann, one of the prosecutors on Mueller’s team, told the judge that Manafort’s alleged lies about his meetings with Kilimnik were significant because they related to “what we think is going on, and what we think the motive here is.”

“This goes, I think, very much to the heart of what the Special Counsel’s Office is investigating,” Weissmann said, according to the court transcript.

I'm waiting for some honest journalist to address this issue:

Mueller is investigating U.S. allegations that Russia meddled in the election and whether members of the Trump campaign coordinated with Moscow officials. So far, the investigation has ensnared 34 people. Moscow denies interference and Trump dismisses the probe as a political witch hunt.

Have any of those ensnared people been tied to colluding with Russia to throw the election to Trump? You know, the original charge that Mueller was appointed to get to?

Good grief. How much longer is this sh*t show going to continue before people wake up and see that it ain't mulching any flowers?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

believe he was lying to cover up for something we believe was going on, but the only way to prove that thing was going on is if we convince the court he is lying and covering up the otherwise unprovable thing!"
Glad the judge has some snap.
