Jeremy Corbyn's bizarre new campaign strategy

A new poll came out Friday that shocked the UK establishment. Labour is on the upswing.

Theresa May risks being ousted from Downing Street after a shock new poll suggests Labour could be on course to cut her majority down to just two seats.
The YouGov poll for the Times found that the Conservatives are on 43%, just five points ahead of Labour on 38%.
At the start of the election campaign, some polls had the Tories with leads of more than 20 points.

The turn-around has been extraordinary and it has left many asking "how is this possible?"
One source examined Corbyn's unconventional campaign style, and this is what they found.

However, there appears to be a groundswell of support building for Labour, and that support seems to be a direct result of a radical, bizarre new strategy set out by Jeremy Corbyn. The likes of this which hasn’t been seen in British politics before.

Jeremy Corbyn has taken these unthinkable steps to try and win over the British public:

Has instructed his party to run a positive campaign and not be drawn into gutter politics.
Refuses to name-call or smear the opposition.
He actually seems to care about people.
Generally answers questions honestly when asked (even if they are loaded questions from the media).
Is appearing in public and meeting the electorate face to face.
Is not locking journalists in store-rooms and stage managing questions from them.
Refused to use so called ‘big data’ companies to tap into individual’s worries and fears via targeted campaigns on social media.
And this is the craziest thing, he has actually released a really good manifesto that’s been well received by the public.

Crazy, huh? It's almost as if he's treating the voter with respect.
What's wrong with him?

Corbyn, not being happy with throwing out normal campaign conventions, even addressed the failure of the War on Terror.

The sight of the army on Britain’s streets after the Manchester suicide bomb attack is a clear sign that the UK’s foreign policy and approach to fighting terrorism is not working, Jeremy Corbyn has said.

The Labour leader said there must be more money for law enforcement, as he suggested Britain’s intervention in wars abroad had fuelled the risk of terrorism at home.

“Many experts, including professionals in our intelligence and security services, have pointed to the connections between wars our government has supported or fought in other countries and terrorism here at home,” he said.

His comments drew immediate criticism from the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, with Sir Michael Fallon, the defence secretary, accusing Corbyn of “very muddled and dangerous thinking” that implied blame on Britain for somehow bringing the Manchester terror attack on itself.

Many pundits say this speech will doom Corbyn, but then they already said he was doomed.

The Conservatives also accused Corbyn of victim blaming. Worse still, Alt-right is shitting on Ariana Grande, her fans, and women in general. I'm getting really sick of this shit.

I hope Corbyn wins over there. We could use some good news for a change.

Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.

@The Aspie Corner people are responding

More than a third of voters (37%) say their opinion of the prime minister is more negative than at the start of the campaign, against 25% who say it is more positive.

The opposite is true of the Labour leader, with 39% saying they have a more positive view of Corbyn compared with 14% who now have a more negative view.

They also have a strategy. Not sure if it's a winning one. As Matt Taibbi recently wrote in Rolling Stone:

People need a reason to be excited by politics, and not just disgusted with the other side. Until the Democrats figure that out, these improbable losses will keep piling up.

Preach it, brother Jeremy!!

Despite the fact that Britain, just like us, did in fact make herself a terrorist target.

We need to treat the Middle East as "terra incognita" and stay the fuck away from it. This means all Western or European nations, including Russia.

We've now been fighting this slice of World War I for over 100 years now. Isn't it enough?

A war as long as no one admits it in public.

Or so conventional establishment thought says.
They may be right but I hope not.

Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat leader, also criticised Corbyn’s speech, saying: “A few days ago, a young man built a bomb, walked into a pop concert and deliberately slaughtered children. Our children. Families are grieving. A community is in shock. Jeremy Corbyn has chosen to use that grotesque act to make a political point.”

That is a stupid, hypocritical comment by Farron. In addition to being mass murder, this concert bombing WAS indeed a political statement. The more I hear of Corbyn, the more I like him--just like pre-convention Bernie. I think Corbyn is like Bernie was but with bigger cajones.

Is so hard for the war party to take. Obviously they hate having their warmongering thrown in the faces.

“This is a very badly timed speech, showing some very muddled and dangerous thinking. He seems to be implying that a terrorist attack in Manchester is somehow our fault, it’s somehow Britain’s fault. Jeremy Corbyn is far too ready to find excuses and far too slow to support the police and the security services.

Johnson added to the attack after meeting his US counterpart in London. “This is a moment ... when we should be coming together, uniting to defeat these people, and we can and we will, not just in Iraq and in Syria but of course in the battle for the hearts and minds,” he said. “They are wrong, their view of the world is a corruption and perversion of Islam and it can be completely confounded.

Farron added: “I don’t agree with what he says, but I disagree even more that now is the time to say it. That’s not leadership, it’s putting politics before people at a time of tragedy.

So it's the right time during this 'time of tragedy' to monger for war and more money for insecurity services, but not the right time to monger for peace and a more sanity in foreign policy.

The Parliamentary election to decide the next leader of the UK is in two weeks, the race is very tight, there has just been a major domestic terrorist incident related directly to the country's overseas deployments, and the candidates fundamentally disagree on solutions.

If now isn't the time to debate these vital issues, when is?

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

Reminds me of one of those old British Union dock workers from back in the day. Sort of grizzled and put together with salt and spit and some Karl Marx. I should prolly get up to speed on him instead of my myth making.

We can’t save the world by playing by the rules, because the rules have to be changed.

We've been debating about moving to our house in Northern Ireland since November - most notably because the NHS costs 2.4% of our income, while living in the state costs us $2,000/month for healthcare for our family [which we only use because we have a 14 month old daughter] - almost what would meet our living expenses in the UK.

When this poll came out, we decided that if Corbyn wins, we're moving. We've both been avid Corbyn supporters since he won the first leadership election. My wife will be voting Labour for the first time since 1997... Hmm... if only the Democrats could learn that lesson here.
