From Grist: Facing a call for climate reparations, wealthy nations propose an insurance scheme.
The exploited nations pay out, their claims are denied, and the gravy train keeps rolling! Maybe they can all take out more IMF loans to pay the premiums. The US is of course proposing "nothing" as an alternative -- climate change is real, you see, but OUR neoliberals won't be caught actually believing in it.
Does anyone really expect anything from COP meetings anymore?

The only good thing I expect from COP gatherings
are resistance displays .. people holding signs, gluing their body parts to
buildings and an occasional statement from Greta (god bless her soul)
which may be carried by the news streams or not.
It is all theater for the nobles to park their jets and pretend concern for the
world that is being raped on their behalf for financial gains. The sequels
are just as meaningless as the original. Those folks will not do much more
than posture and propose a carbon tax scheme. Like Davos. Deflecting
responsibility.

So yeah, there is no solution to the climate problem unless some PMC, 'foundation', consultant, and Wall St. style skimming can take place. Otherwise you can fugeddaboudit. If there is a climate problem, those groups will have all the answers. But only those, and only when she (mother earth) blows. No solutions or answers a moment sooner than the absolute death of denial. Then and only then the greedy bastards that caused it will have the only solutions. To buy a lease to hunt for bugs on Bill Gates farmland.
In a rare moment of clarity (that is my story and I'm stickin' to it) after the flash of light it hit me, I used it in another thread a few days ago... CO2splay. That is what it is. Celebrating now 27 years of CO2 kabuki making it look like they are doing something besides greenwashing. By polluting an extra lot for one useless event which has changed seemingly nothing. The only redeeming value I see is that some of the 'unheard people' get a moment for a message, like Kiribati, Tuvalu, Fiji, etc.
