It All Started With a Comment

A most excellent comment, in fact, from our very own Bulldawg, in which the critical two points were made:

8 instances of Top Secret information on her servers is pretty damning...Clearances would be stripped, and the person would never hold one again.

Well, yeah. So how can you have a President of the United States whose office can't get a Security Clearance without rewriting the basic rule book on security clearances?

How?

This makes a mockery of security clearances, IMHO.

Discuss. Please! Because I keep coming back to this, and I don't know how to get past it.

We simply can NOT accept this.
Maybe the President of the United States, Obama, didn't know what a RED LINE really meant, but we do.
THIS IS IT.
No more.

Please, can we now call them GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS, and bury the old "emails" - and announce in every way we can, social media, every public forum we know, the old fashioned "letters to the editor" and comment section in every major newspaper, blog, this is OUR Red Line.

We will NOT support the Democratic party if their nominee is Clinton. We will not be feared, scared, threatened, bullied, blamed into voting for Clinton if she is the nominee. This is NOT a binary choice. We have options. We are more disgusted by the remote possibility of the Clintons in the White House, than we are of Trump, or anyone else.

LOUD AND PROUD. This is our Red Line. No More lies. NO more Clintons. Things have gotten so much worse since Bob Herbert wrote this:http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/26/opinion/in-america-cut-him-loose.html

Honestly, did anyone ever think it would get this bad. Honestly. CUT THEM LOOSE!

And every single one of those documents, including the so called personal ones, are the property of the US government. The minute that she chose to co-mingle public and private on her private servers, every one of them became public property. Every one of the documents that she directed to be deleted was the destruction of government documents. It was not up to her or her lawyers to determine the difference between public and private. It was up to the government to determine which documents should have been retained and archived.

As YES, Bob Herbert was so very right about the Clintons.

We're fighting self-interests controlling democratic government meant to be of, by and for the people, and therefore only then legitimate.

We're fighting a hostile corporate take-over thinly disguised as privately agreed 'trade deals' benefiting a relative few by draining the various publics, resources and ecologies of countries around the world to destruction for maximized short-term profiteering, at least while any of the corporate/militarily-destroyed ecology forming the life support system remains and until only the wealthiest and most powerful few people are left - by then, no doubt, fighting to predate upon each other so that he who dies last with the most toys wins.

This is not about political parties, it's about suicidally greedy and destructive self-interests and their proxies, willing to destroy the very concepts of democracy and civilization, even the world of life itself - the result of billions of years of evolution - so that some few of the few can 'have it all' at the bitter end, perhaps when virtually nothing remains but their little data-dots signifying deletable wealth in a world where there are none to buy and little to purchase but the ability to manufacture air when the life support system can no longer produce enough oxygen to support life (as has been predicted to occur within this century, within decades,) and to purify toxic water on a murdered-for-profit planet.

our enemies know most of it, or become aware of it well before americans are allowed to be. for instance, someone on the receiving end of a covert action (for example a drone strike) generally becomes aware of it shortly after the action is perpetrated. it seems pretty likely that for many actions, there's not a lot of doubt in the minds of the people on the receiving end as to "whodunit." the information is embargoed and kept from americans for 30-50 years - if it is ever revealed at all.

it seems like it's more important to the government to keep its citizens in the dark about what it does than our enemies.

so perhaps as long as hillary doesn't reveal embarrassing information to the rubes, the government just isn't too worried about it.

I believe that the TPP (and other corporate coups) which Bush initiated and Hilary promoted establish which corporate interests/billionaires will 'legally' own and run the involved countries as for-profits with expendable human resources, so that any notion of 'national security' will depend upon what they're concerned with. And it seems that really only the various publics of these countries need to have their own privately determined public policy and further evidence of their own public servants working against their interests and those of global survival to serve wealthy and powerful self-interests at their expense kept from them. That's certainly the most urgent concern displayed at any rate, going by the evidence.

"We're going to have hearings," Ryan said on Fox, mentioning House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah). Chaffetz indicated hours earlier on Fox that he was considering calling Comey to Capitol Hill to testify on the FBI's probe and conclusion not to recommend charges.

And to address your question, also from Ryan in above article:

He also called for the Director of National Intelligence to "block" Clinton from accessing classified information given her handling of government secrets over her private email server.

Think voting for a third party, will split the votes so much, no one will get 270, so House would decide.

I am not really sure that voting third party will do enough to split the vote requiring Congress to appoint a president. However, anything is possible. MSM and their polling is trying to direct the people again by not including Green in many of their polls. Politicians have come to rely on certain states being blue or red to the point that they believe that there are only 10 states in play. It will be interesting to see if and how many switch their expected results.

I think the country will survive four years of Trump much easier than eight years of the Clintons. I absolutely do not want those two in the White House or even in the zip code of the White House ever again.

Because, see, I agree with this statement:

You're preaching to the already-converted there. I've recently come to this ghastly conclusion myself. I find HRC far more dangerous than Donald Trump can ever be--if he even gets that far, and there's no Bernie to vote for, I will do what I can to stop her, even if it means voting for him.

You have a lot more faith in the R's being able to fix things more than the D's can. i don't

OK. But consider: the GOP has fixed a few elections. Now, you seem to think that Hillary is more powerful than that, based on one primary (right?). And that's certainly understandable, given yesterday's little performance by FBI Director Comey. Thing is, when that has time to really sink in--and particularly if the CFI investigation gets anywhere--the only way HRC wins is if she gets the general fixed as well.

Here is (I think) where we part ways--I have a lot less faith than you that Dems--even the slime that still answers to DWS--can pull that off over the GOP--because 1) the GOP has had way more practice at it, and 2) They don't like her either.

The billionaires/corporate interests backing their preferred candidates seem generally to be not really partisan, just insanely greedy and of a pathological corporate culture in which all must be sacrificed to their power and profit. It's these self-interests who carry this outrageous degree of corruption into US politics.

Vote against the evils - it's all anyone can do, and much better than actively supporting the two-party trade-off system and accepting that electoral results undeniably known to be the product of blatant cheating/'errors' will be allowed to stand. Your vote may not count, whatever happens, so wouldn't it be best to vote with your mind and heart, against corruption, and collect all evidence of electoral cheating for the coming battle, in case democracy still can be achieved in a civilized fashion?

How long will even the pretense of elections actually continue, once a 'legal and binding' unconstitutional corporate coup is ratified by the new corporate President from either of the billionaire/corporate-controlled candidates? Trump and Clinton are both of that group - only Trump is out for more independent self-enrichment than Hillary, who seems more of a paid employee and a social-/financial-climber-type. This could be the last chance to vote, or one of the last - and to further establish proof of cheating which could yet prove useful.

There may be something in the works, which wouldn't surprise me. Bernie knows what he's doing and whatever it might potentially be, it will be well-thought-out and not advertised in advance to those seeking to subjugate us all. But Bernie always does the best he can for democracy and the people, and often manages far more than could have been expected. My faith still Berns, even if at this point he's just keeping his options - and a way forward for The People - open.

Why not vote Green? If nothing else, it would provide more evidence of massive electoral cheating on behalf of corporate candidates. (Wish that was snark...)

If scrupulous supervision and the US Constitution were to be somehow applied by the General, it would also break the two-party trade-off stranglehold, if the largest block of voters avoided both evils, rather than choosing one and literally 'asking for it', thereby continuing it.

The Republicans have been obstructionist because corporate/billionaire controlled and doing their funder's bidding.

Why have the Dems been unable to get anything done against the Repub Party long known to have been millionaire/billionaire/corporate-controlled - and 'been forced by the Republicans' to act/negotiate against the public interest always to the financial benefit of Big Funders at the cost of the people/public and/or environment?

Why have the Dems Federally been consistently unable to enforce the sanctity of human and Constitutional rights of The People which are guaranteed throughout the United States and not optional according to the choices of the Big Funders of various State politician?

In the two-party trade-off system, it seems painfully evident that the obstructionism of the Republicans is an excuse for the 'good cops' doing the bidding of the 'bad cops' to benefit donors on both sides.

Under the corporate coup of such private agreements as the TPP which Clinton globally promoted, as she did fracking, will the Republicans long even be needed as strategic foils to conceal the thoroughly-revealed strings being pulled by those unconstitutionally running public policy into the industrially-polluted ground?

Presidents do not normally peruse classified documents, they usually are given briefings and "CliffsNotes" pertaining to matters of interest and they are only provided "need to know" information.
The social media chatter about Hillary's security clearance eligibility is off topic, meaningless, and distracting.

So, luckily, a President with no regard for national security where her convenience is at stake or for 'the appearance of corruption' is no problem? What a relief!

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

The short answer is yes, as far as the question of security clearance is concerned. If in fact we the voters decide, we do not need to worry about that particular question. In the parlance of my discipline that could be referenced as a second order concern, as it is one step away from the task at hand.
I will never vote for her, I don't want her to be president, do you?

given that it looks like the President never needed one. The President gets to DECIDE what's classified and what's not.

Did not know this. So thanks for the heads-up!

However, that being said, I do not believe that it's distracting to note that any President who couldn't get one of these, were they any other person in government, shouldn't be doing the damned deciding as to what else ever gets classified. Not to mention, they shouldn't be overseeing others WITH security clearances --and in this case, you know goddamn well Hillary Clinton, were she anyone else, would NEVER EVER BE CLEARED AGAIN EVER. The FBI director said as much.

So while it is not relevant that she'll NEED a security clearance as POTUS, the fact that she disqualifies herself to oversee others' clearances when she could never get another one herself is entirely relevant and something to be considered by serious voters.

Especially when she's already (edit: been) known to place otherwise entirely unqualified big donors, such as hedge fund managers, on, in example, nuclear committees... money trumps all.

The President gets to DECIDE what's classified and what's not.

For example, the President does not decide what's classified in my area of expertise, Nuclear Physics.

oversee others' clearances

This is not true, the President does not "oversee others' clearances". There is no single agency that oversees security clearances.
