How You Know The Danger is Undeniable. And Imminent.
Maureen Dowd's column today: Apocalypse Right Now
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/24/opinion/sunday/climate-change-floods-.... Read this if you can. A sobering photo essay of our crumbling planet.
"Some hope technology can save us.
In Dubai, scientists are plotting to combat heat waves in several ways: sending aircraft to fire chemicals such as silver iodide into clouds to spur precipitation, and sending drones to zap an electrical charge into the clouds to trigger rain.
Making waterfalls in the desert sounds cool until you think about it. Torquing Mother Nature to clean up our messes can’t end well.
Après moi, le déluge."
Yes, that Maureen Dowd. The silly teller of tales amongst the political classes. The foibles of the rulers, and so forth.
In this opinion piece for the NY Times, Maureen sounds like one of us.

Read it and tremble.
The Times has gone all-in on climate. Trump's absence has left them with a gaping hole in topics and so they've turned to public terror that for once has a basis in fact.

If they really want to help...
We saw this EXACT SAME THING before in the '90s (or so I'm finally piecing together): Anyone who peddles pseudointellectual bullshit then turns around and talks about ACTUAL grave concerns only winds up poisoning the credibility of the latter, ESPECIALLY in a world where natural intelligence is so much more common than good education that many endowed with the former can't count on access to the latter. Hence, the South Park guys (whom I've always credited as having superb political instincts, whether I otherwise thought they were right or not) spent so long dissing global warming as "ManBearPig" - why? Because they heard about it from Al Gore, then-husband to (apparently) shrill social conservative Tipper (look up videos of "Frank Zappa congressional hearing" - there's so many results, I wouldn't know which to link). This shit leaves deep stains.
The once-great New York Times, which my grandfather read from cover-to-cover every morning of his life, faced its (admittedly unfair) demise at the hands of the Internet in the most cowardly manner imaginable: Burning every calorie of its credibility, selling off every quanta of its soul, for superficial survival.

funny how they never mention fossil fuels...
nor the pipeline protesters being arrested by corporate mercenaries dressed as police...
nor the role of the MIC in causing the problem as well.
Discussing the problem and effects are easy, causes are more problematic. Check out my essay today for more.
thanks for the link, but it seems I'm over my free limit and must register...sorry NYT no will do.

Read the
piece, not impressed.
A diatribe against republicans dressed up as concern for the environment ensures a twist of the flush handle.

Well spotted. The us/them distraction will continue to
divide us making us easy prey for TPTB. Dowd is a hack, a glib hack, but a hack nonetheless.
