This article from the Daily Mail* really wraps it all up in one nice, succinct passage. It details the five separate investigations into "Clintonworld", gives a description of each of the players, and how they are related to each of the various cases. And then it addresses how each of the players, and each of the cases, are potentially affected by the addition of the Weiner laptop into the mix. It really is a tangled web. This managed to untangle it enough to understand the scope of what is being investigated:

*is the Daily Mail reliable? a rag? I don't know...from reading the article, I didn't notice any factual errors or even exaggerations. If nothing else, I find it a useful summary of the players and the cases, to help keep it all straight in my mind.

The FBI is out of control
it should be kept under the Department of Justice. Without DOJ constraints it becomes a danger to the rule of law in the USA.

What if those DOJ constraints
mean protecting those that appointed the DOJ, even when crimes have been committed? That, too, is a danger to the rule of law.

There is no Justice in the Department of Justice, which has been heavily politicized. The recent eruption by Clintonites and Hilbots confirms that the FBI is onto something. How anyone can defend the actions of Lyin' Loretta Lynch is beyond me. Digby has sold out to Hillary since early in the campaign. Empty Wheel--never heard of it--but "virgin birth" is going a bit far to denounce a mere pedophile, while attempting to have a war criminal skate for her actions (and those surely to follow). Who watches the watchers, Marilyn? Who would you suggest polices the police?

When ever someone exposes anything about Hillary, her first response is to totally discredit that person. She did it with the authors who wrote books about her, she did it with the victims coming forward against Bill's assaults, and now she is doing it to a law enforcement official who is just trying to do his job.

I'm not prepared to throw Marcy under the bus without
taking a close look at what she's been writing for the last 2 years. She was an outstanding contributor to dailyKos for several years, before she went out on her own. She did some brilliant investigative reporting, e.g. digging through various documents dumps that came out over the years.

I've seen enough of Digby to last a lifetime and to know she's been in that Shillary tank for quite a while.
Now, I know we're all into J Edgar Hoover parallels with Mr Comey, and perhaps he did jump the gun on the timing of these releases. But the DOJ under Lynch will not do ONE thing to bring any of this to light, if they'd had their way, we wouldn't now be hearing about it. Couple of my friends actually buy into Comey as Hoover right now, and I'm sorry, but I just don't see that. Lynch herself has refused to testify to Congress on her tarmac meeting with Bill. You don't see that as problematic? I would not believe one word out of that woman's mouth anymore. Whether she's corrupt or not, the Clintons have indeed tarnished her and the entire DOJ. And that works for them. Now they get to paint Comey as Hoover and really, how in hell does one debunk something like that?

When you rise above watching the puppet show that is the
forthcoming election and look for those who are pulling the strings, that's where the power struggles are. The FBI vs the DOJ is one of the power struggles in the forefront right now. Then there are the polluting industries against those concerned about climate change. There are the global trade deals vs anti-globalization groups. These deals are more of a threat to the average person than any politician. I realize this is a vast over-simplification contained in a short comment.
