The celestial solstice occurs on 12/21/20 at 10:02 AM UCT (Greenwich). For the most important time zone in North America, that's 3:02 AM Mountain Standard Time. It will be 11:02 PM for janis b. Smile

Yes, the most important TZ. And we don't believe in that silly daylight savings time. We stay on proper time year round.

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

I think the plan is for me and my fiance' to arise, be outside at 4 a.m. with a glass of Ararat brandy, 10 year vintage, (rated the best in the world in international competition), and sort of have a little ceremonial sip, ponder the possibilities of the future.

Wow! Affianced! Congratulations! Give rose

Ararat brandy

Q. Why were the domestic cats on Noah's Ark starving when the Flood ended?
A. Because they spent 40 days without seeing 'ere a rat. (Ararat)

Wink

(I'm looking for a local source for Ararat brandy, as my Mom occasionally drinks brandy.)

... me and my fiance' ...

Good thing thanatokephaloides caught that, because I read right past it.

I don't recall you mentioning this before. Congrats to both!

or any locals, so I order it from Glendale Liquor Store, Glendale, Ca.
I learned a lot about it when I went to Armenia, visited the distillery.
I got to sample 3, 5, 6, 7, and 10 year vintages. The 7 year is what young folks really like.
Winston Churchill had the 100 year vintage shipped to him, even during WWII.
Today, the biggest market for it is Russia.
And the whole Affianced is just fantastic fun! In the future, we will get kicked out of the nursing home for bad behavior! Woohoo!

What a warm and welcome gift this is from you, and what perfect timing. I'm listening with great pleasure.

Today, the longest day of the year and an astrologically significant one has been interesting to say the least. It started peacefully this morning with Qi Gong on the deck with my neighbour. It progressed to getting two new front tires aligned by the nicest aligner there might be anywhere. I came home to find a fault with my wifi and land line connection. Called my provider on my recently gifted older iPhone from a friend, only to be somehow disconnected. When I rang the provider back I was twice connected to someone in NZ who has no connection to the provider. So I'm sitting here labouriously typing my solstice story hoping the cloud cover will clear in the next few hours so that I can view the setting conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter. It may be late tomorrow before I have normal connection again. Till then, thank you very much than for your wonderful compilation of my favourite music. When I'm
Back on my laptop I will send you something in return. For now, please accept my love and appreciation.

All the best to everyone.

As Dallas would say, " 'Che! 'Che! " Smile

To hear from you, especially with your love and appreciation attached, is most welcome at any time to me. I had stumbled onto that Fat Freddy's Drop mixtape on YouTube less than an hour earlier, in the "Recommended" column, and hadn't yet heard it all when I wrote the Essay.

And, needless to say, I love and appreciate you, janis! Give rose

Blessed Solstice to you!

FFD is the perfect solution to current times and future promise. The sky is clearing as the temperature drops. Must be a sign of the time. Thank you for your positive energy. May it add to our communal wellbeing.

The well-known phrase “when the stars align” will mean much more this year, and in a year when we need it the most. A rare event will occur on the night of the winter solstice and we may have a unique opportunity to see what many are calling a Christmas star over Kentucky. While this isn’t exactly a singular star, it could make for a pretty memorable event and one you’ll definitely want to watch for on December 21st.

This "Christmas star" is not actually one star, but two planets that will be extremely close to one another on the night of December 21st. This year's winter solstice will be one to remember.

The best place to see the planets will be out away from light pollution, and there are many great options in Kentucky. The Big South Fork Scenic area is shown below, but any remote spot, farmland, or a back road would be ideal for witnessing what may be one of the brightest moments of 2020.

Hope you all have a great one. It will be quite different than normal, but like thanksgiving it will be nice not to travel. Hope you all are enjoying Saturnalia or there's Festivus for the rest of us! No matter your favorite holiday...make it a good one!
