From The Day Book: Judge Anderson Quashes Indictments Against Judge Gary

Youngstown, O., March 28.-Ruling that labor was not a commodity and therefore did not fall under provisions of the Valentine anti-trust act, Common Pleas Judge W. G. Anderson today quashed the indictments against Judge Elbert H. Gary, the U. S. Steel Corporation and five other steel companies. Following recent Youngstown steel strike, Gary and the steel companies were indicted, charged with conspiracy to maintain prices of steel and fix wages of common laborers.

In sustaining the motion to quash, Judge Anderson characterized the indictments as "vague, indefinite and uncertain."

Prosecutor Henderson, who had charge of the grand jury investigation, refused to say whether further action against the steel companies is planned. It is believed, however, that no attempt to return new indictments will be made.

Gary and steel corporation were not included in motion to quash the charges, but Judge Anderson's ruling served to knock out those charges also, the court announced.

Indictments were returned as result of investigation into Youngstown steel strike, in which four lives were lost, 38 injured and $1,000,000 property damage sustained in rioting.

Homestead Strike Song - Performed by Pete Seeger
Lyrics: http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/folk-song-lyrics/Homestead_Strike.htm

Now the man that fights for honor,
none can blame him.
May luck attend wherever he may roam.
And no son of his will ever live
to shame him.
Whilst Liberty and Honor rule our Home.

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.. This...is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.--John Adams

indictments against the ruling class parties were even issued.

Certainly they weren't kept for more than 2 years in filthy jails like the miners of Colorado, awaiting trials and retrials.
