The GOS now functions like Breitbart for Corporate Dems

Jump ahead to 5:45 to get to the relevant part, although the whole segment is good.

Here is Armando's lying smear.

What is interesting is how a smear on GOS got picked up by more mainstream corporate Dems in much the same way that Breitbart smears get picked up by Fox News.

It makes me wonder if this is what Markos and his ilk at TOP had in mind all along with the purges that started in March 2016. Did they look at Breitbart with envy?

As for Armando, well, it's clear where he stands.

Thanks, I watched it twice lately. Because there's a big part that I miss "watching the sausage get made", now it all seems pretty pointless. Perfect quote from Armando:

I believe reasonable progressives can disagree on the merits of open and closed primaries. But I do not believe there can be a reasonable disagreement that ANY primary is superior to any caucus. Only someone who believes in voter disenfranchisement can support caucuses over primaries.

"I believe I believe, only someone who believes ... blah blah blah." Armando still boring us to sleep. Thanks.

@eyo Actually, there were occasions early on when Hillary's people apparently found it more difficult to rig caucuses.

When people actually show up in the flesh, it's more difficult to fake what they do. You have to engage either in execrable practices like the horribly-named "granny farming," or you have to engage in truly blatant corruption.

It's so much nicer when the people are represented solely by their digital data. Cleanup's a breeze!

@Wink thanks for making me lose my shit again, about having proprietary (secret) software applications count the votes. With CNN! omg rigged. Ironical report from ms-nbc:
http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/sanders-campaign-suspicious-corporate-influence-iowa-caucus

DES MOINES, Iowa – The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is raising questions about the involvement of Microsoft in the Iowa Caucuses, now just days away, and has built an independent system to check the official results.

For the first time this year, Microsoft partnered with the Iowa Democratic and Republican Parties to provide a technology platform with which the parties will run their caucuses. The software giant created separate mobile apps for each party, which officials at hundreds of caucuses across the state will use to report out results from individual precincts to party headquarters for tabulation.

The arrangement has aroused the suspicions of aides to Sanders, who regularly warn that corporate power and the billionaire class are trying to hijack democracy. Pete D’Alessandro, who is running the Iowa portion of Sanders’ campaign, questioned the motives of the major multinational corporation in an interview with MSNBC: “You’d have to ask yourself why they’d want to give something like that away for free.”

Oligarchs run the joint, the richest guys on earth have all the influence. Why bother voting?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2016/02/01/microsoft-app-used-tally-votes-iowa-caucus-fails-some-areas/79674064/

As Republican and Democratic caucus voters used new Microsoft tallying apps during the Iowa caucuses, some took to Twitter to say the sites were crashing, while others complimented them on how swiftly they worked.

Watching real time was unbelievable, every reboot seemed to come up Clinton ahead, no matter what.
Six out of six coin tosses and Bob's your uncle. I don't understand why Bernie did not really really resist right then, he always just keeps going. Oh well.

voting machines, or "monitoring devices?" The YouTube video that did it for me, a few weeks after Iowa, was the one showing the count voter asking for verbal votes. The Bernie crowd was clearly louder than the Hillary crowd, but the vote counter declared Hillary the winner. And, just like that, with Iowa went Bernie's chances of winning.

At my caucas here in Washington state it was nearly unanimous for Sanders.
And there was a huge turnout. Such that the precinct officials were unprepared for. And yet Clinton got the nod.
Was little disappointed that the Superdelegates were not mentioned in the Jimmy Dore vid.

easily could have missed it. Was mentioned and Jimmy nodded in agreement, but wasn't discussed. And, yes, those "Supers" were the primary reason he lost the Primary. Hell, Bernie already working from 500 delegates down before Primary got started. But, Iowa went for Bernie, and the vote counter ignored Bernie supporters and gave Iowa to HRC. Caught on (YouTube) video for the world to see. Happened in Washington State, too, apparently. Fucking caucuses. No doubt Bernie won the Primary.

@Wink But an activist group in San Diego County helped the Bernie activists take the Registrar of Voters there to court and they won!

The court ruled that the Primary in June 2016 was an illegal affair inside San Diego County and that had serious hanky panky not been practiced by the DNC and Registrar's office, Bernie would have won that county.

Big Shame of it is this sort of thing would have had to occur on a state by state basis. And most activists don't have the benefit of a serious pro activist group willing to put top lawyers on such a case, pro bono.

for a debate between open and closed Democratic primaries when we haven't even established that Democratic primaries should be fair and neutral? In fact, what we have established is that there is no requirement at all that Democratic primaries be fair or neutral.

Of course, neoliberal corporatist asshats at TOP like Armando never have to answer that question. Any suggestion that the 2016 Democratic primary was anything but a paragon of electoral integrity is labeled as conspiracy theory and flagged over there.

I hope Tom Perez gets asked the same question wherever he goes as the 2020 primaries approach: You argued in court that the DNC has no obligation to conduct fair primaries and you won - why would anyone bother to participate in a primary process that you have the adjudicated right to rig as you see fit?

This should be the question at every event that Perez is at as you stated.
And this is why I question Bernie's commitment to change the direction of the DP. On the campaign trail he was saying that the minimum wage needs to be raised sooner than later, but now he's for the same incremental increases as Herheinous was. He says that by 2024, it should be $15, but by that time it should be even higher.
He's doing the same thing with MFA, which is nowhere close to universal health care that he was campaigning on.

A Democratic Party that gives every Democrat a voice in the process will make enormous gains from the school board to the Senate this cycle and it will take back the White House in 2020. We already see this incredible energy in a number of highly competitive races across the country.

I guess that Armando wasn't aware of the number of people who had their party affiliation changed and they were kicked off the voting rolls.
Or that the DNC admitted that votes don't really matter since they can just choose who our candidate should be.

This comment is priceless:

Clinton won the Popular Vote by the second highest amount in history, with Bernie's dagger in her back, James Comey attached to her ankle like an anchor, and the Russians hacking the DNC behind the scenes.

Goes to Hedges who said that the democrats have learned how to talk liberal and progressive, yet in real actual policies do the opposite. Some Bernie critics have accused him of sheep dogging progressives into the graveyard of the democrats. Some truth to that but not by design. TOPS is in fact an organization whose main function is sheep-dogging and political propaganda for corporate democrats.

They constantly publish a subset of articles which are progressive. Anybody not aware of their history would think it was a "progressive site". But where they put their political monies is far from progressive, and not even liberal I would argue.

Their political arm in the last big House election gave a shit load of money to corporate centrist who would not publicly support unions from all I read (I searched but could not find any reference--more implicit anti-union stuff pushing him as a small capitalist). And yet today, on the front page of TOP, there were three prominent front pagers publishing pro-union diaries. Add to this I would say is Clinton's avid support of Walmart--one of the thee most anti-union companies in America. And this support was for Hillary BEFORE the end of the primaries.

So TOPS gave political cover to corporate democrats.

Another role is what I call tribal protection. There was a diary that attacked Cory Booker over his vote and was quickly approved by progressives. But then what I call tribal protection kicked in with a bunch of defenses of Booker. Same happened with K. Harris. Same happened with Hillary--the tribe was protected itself by the re-invention of her as a progressive.

Given them credit. They have mobilized enough moderate republicans to have a decent political war chest from what I can tell.

Dude. It's right here on C99. We ALL want to end the use of those words. My guess is you'll find plenty of Independents who agree. You might even find a few Democrats.

But the thing is, we here are a reality based community so we can't really end the use of those words until the reality has changed. It's a classic neolib thing to debate semantics when you can't debate the underlying reality. What possible good could it do if we all stopped talking about your systemic corruption? It'd still exist. It would still be killing hundreds of thousands (if not millions or tens of millions) globally. How does not having the discussion help?
