Friday Photography - Mostly Rain

The skies cleared yesterday and the forecast for the near future is mostly sun. I enjoy both.

Wishing you all a warm and cozy weekend.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

What is that? Could be a model for a state-of-the-art vacuum cleaner!

I guess it's perfectly descriptive but won't fly as a trade name for our state-of-the-art vacuum cleaner.

Is that a bird of paradise that hasn't opened yet in the third photo?

This is what is at the other end of the trail I posted last week. See? It was made to look like something it wasn't. Or somewhere.

We had a few snow storms this week and it's cold! It's been in the 20's during the day which makes for a chilly walk.

Yep. I have been walking faster so I can warm up. When Charlie has had enough she makes a beeline back to the car. Abby loves it when it snows though. She likes to make snow angels.

The first picture looks like a drainage ditch with the drain in the wrong spot.
From your post I take it you're not sure what's happening either.
Is it a drain?

snoopydawg's picture

@Pricknick

A few years ago I walked by this and the area was under water so maybe the drain was plugged with leaves. There is an underground stream that might go through this area. I have one in my backyard and have to have a sump pump in my basement. Not sure really what this area is and why they didn't just fill it in, but I'll ask about it and let you know. If you look closely on the left the dark lines are metal headstones. I suppose that they get flooded to.

Stay tuned ...

The end of the trail is an interesting and puzzling configuration, and the brilliance of the aspens in the snow must be dazzling to see.

The bird of paradise is at home, and the other two are from locations near home.

The subtle difference of the color green and the clean lines of the trees. I think that's why ..
Did you notice the baby pines? And one that didn't make it.

So your yard is full of lush greenery? Would like to see more photos of it. What's the temperature like for your springs?

janis b's picture

@snoopydawg

the soft greens against the bright whites and straight lines are very nice. It's strange, but the green growth at the top of the aspen trees look like Spring growth, but must be at the stage of dropping soon. Too bad for the little lost pine tree.

Lush it is, for a good part of the year. The temperature ranges currently are between 65-72 degrees during the day, but if you're in the sun it feels a lot more intense. The nights are between 55-60.

Thanks.

I liked the painting as it was halfway through this. It didn't seem as busy, but it's his dialogue that made him so easy to follow. I can't believe he has been gone for so long.

I'd love to learn how to draw, but my brain just won't make the connections to do it. Even when it's line by line my picture looks like nothing close to what I tried to do. No one wants me as their partner for pictunary. The word is "sheriff" what do you draw?

Heh. You should have seen the look on my friend's face!

The photo of the trees was taken with film not digital. I think in some scenes or scenarios film makes a better picture. The grain in them add to them. Has anyone else thought this?

Will you post photos of your yard sometime? I can't get over how green and lush it is there. Bet you don't care for the humidity though. It's high here during winter. In the 20's or so during summer and when it gets higher than 30 people complain about it. I don't know how people can stand living where it's so high. Do you get used to it?

Beautiful pix Janis, I love your lushness. Awesome fly shots SP. Great leaves and trees SD. Is that a tidal flat BR? Great pic! Looks like good birding.

First is a Dayflower, aka Widow's Tears, if you pick it and squeeze the base of the flower stem a drop of 'tear' (nectar) comes out, so the books say.

to drop by and thank all for sharing their work this evening. Gotta get back to finishing enrolling in a Medicare Part D plan. Like I mentioned to Joe, I've already been on hold for almost an hour with those folks.

Found a Twitter photo of our soon-to-be-Pup's (paternal) "Grandma," the other day. She's on a stage with her Person. If I finish in time, tonight, I'll post their photo as my contribution this evening.

Thank you for hosting tonight's OT, Janis. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Fingers crossed that the so-called snowstorm won't be too severe this weekend.

Everyone have a nice weekend! Pleasantry

goes well, it'll be either the second or third week of January.

I thought I'd post the photo of the Sire's Mom, only because we've not selected our Pup, and it wouldn't make sense to post a slew of photos. (It was a pretty large litter--'9' pups.)

I'm studying up on SD's advise about photo-taking. I'm hoping that I'll (eventually) be able to take a photo decent enough to post here. We'll see, I suppose. Wink
