Many of the trees are still green, but they are finally starting to change. But not the vibrant colors we usually get. Fall and spring. Great times of the year.

This path runs along a cliff with the ocean to the left. This is from my trip to Patrick's Point up by Eureka. Have you gone to this area? The trip up highway one is just stunning. The Sonoma coast, Mendocino and all the little towns in between. Sigh .... hopefully some day.
Fond memories of the park. She should have kept driving and found a spot overlooking the ocean. Mine was about 40 yards from the cliffs. Agate beach didn't allow dawgs on the trail down to it so I drove to a spot about a mile away that had access to it.

and interesting photos--you've convinced me to put visiting New Zealand on my Bucket List (which is pretty long, already ). Thanks for posting tonight's Photography OT.
A bit OT from Springtime photos (only because I've been looking into various Golden Kennels lately), here are two Golden photos. Obviously, the first shot illustrates the various 'shades' of golden. The second photo is one of the few that I found that didn't appear to be copyrighted to some degree.

Sure it's no secret, though, that 'Springers' are our favorite breed.
Here's an informal photo of a Springer in his service/therapy dog capacity, also a Westminster Best In Show-- "Felicity's Diamond Jim." His call name was 'James.' Here's a link to his Wikipedia entry.

Closer to the Holidays, I plan to post his formal portrait. It is truly incredible, in that I've never seen such a 'perfect' ESS. Of course, there were at least two Springers who were just as beautiful [to us]. And they will live in our hearts--forever.
Enjoy your lovely Spring, Janis. Everyone have a nice weekend--hope those who are stateside, manage to stay warm and cozy.

Hey, if I should ever be so lucky (to visit NZ), I'll be sure to give you a shout out by asking you "to keep the lights on for us," as the old Motel 6 jingle went.
Seriously, we hope by early next year to be able to resume plans for our own expatriation--including deciding on the destination. Our choices are narrowed considerably, because of pet quarantine regulations--which will apply to us once again, if everything goes as planned. (Mexico uses a pet health certificate for folks traveling from the US. Which is one reason that we were considering Puebla--because of 'the B.') BTW, 'think' I read that Prince Harry and Megan were in NZ recently. Sounds like he travels there a bunch, and is well-liked by your countrymen.

Enjoyed all your photos--you sure have some nice scenery in your 'hood. ;-D I know the dawgs must be enjoying their walks this time of the year. (Assuming that the weather's still Fall-like, in your neck-of-the-woods.)

Charlie is finally improving, but she has a way to go yet. She isn't limping as much so that's good. The toe is fine most days, but it's still quite broken and if I move wrong or if Charlie steps on it yowie.
Yes Utah has some beautiful scenery especially this time of year. Actually all through the year depending where I go. 10 minutes and I'm on the trail in my second photo. It goes up to a beautiful waterfall. Our temps are in the high 60's with very blue skies.
Glad you stop by and hopefully you will be posting your own photos when you get your new phone? Of your puppy soon I hope?

your toe, honestly, don't remember how long it took for my Mother's toe to heal. Seems like it was quite a while--mostly, I'm thinking, because she didn't stay off her feet as much as she probably should have.
Eventually, I may try my hand at photography. Actually, I went ahead and got a new smartphone about a week ago--but, it was less expensive than I had planned to purchase. So my 'guess' is that the camera will not be anything to write home about.
Hopefully, though, between the two newest phones we have (between us), we'll have one that can produce an 'okay' photo. One phone says it has 'Dual Auto Focus' pixels--whatever that means--and, it has a 12 MP Rapid Focus Camera. The newer, yet cheaper phone, has a 13 MP Main/5MP Front Camera. (There's no more info on the box than that, and it's not even been activated.) Anyhoo, if I decide to take a few shots, I'll download and print the camera section of the user manual. Of course, I did that once for another phone--didn't have a clue what they talking about!

Is that the male and female of the same species? The light and colour is dazzling. The water sparkles of condensation are also wow.
The hummingbird colouring and chest patterns remind me of the Shining Cuckoo I've been listening for, but haven't heard yet. I hope they're just silently nesting.
Nice set of beach shots.
My Humming bird feeders have seen an increase in activity recently, so I took a little time the other afternoon to get some shots.

unlike NZ has hummingbirds I ended up reading here. For many reasons hummingbirds are fascinating. Considering the current evolutionary and sexually prominent issues, I find it even more fascinating to read about hummingbirds.

These are Anna's hummingbirds and all but the last shot are males.
I hope you get to hear and see the Shining Cuckoo soon.
I'm not sure where though. And I'm not seeing very many of them the last couple of years. I have a couple of families of birds living in my patio awning. They come back every season and build nests in it. Have to clean bird poop off the windows frequently.

There probably is a lot more color now, but the rain over the next six days will probably be the end of a disappointing leaf season in CNY. I didn't have a chance to get to the Adirondacks this year...or Letchworth...or the Catskills...or the waterfalls I wanted to shoot...

hanging in my room here in Germany, right? I wouldn'ti have thought I would need my memorabilia from the US so much. But it's so hard to carry the spirit of them over the Atlantic. It all dies once it leaves its natural environment. I hope one day I can come back and have a home for it over at your side of the pond.
I hope that you enjoy it still. I remember being awed by how the colors stood out after the rain. And I can still remember how it smelled that day. The pleasant smells of wet dirt from the rain. I bet I took over 100 photos of the area. Hope that you can come back to this side of the pond some day too.

I was referring to my photos in particular. I felt that somehow they were a reflection of the feminine, and because my attention (due to current events and stories here) was focused in that direction I wrote what I did. Is that a bit more clear?
@janis b
I guess I just cant see the difference between beautiful, feminine or masculine.
I also look at everybody as the same. That might be a problem but I hope not.

From listening to this I can confidently say
that my motel would be better ; ).

I hope your expatriation plans go smoothly for you both, and any possible companions.
Thank you, Janis! Hey, I'm sure
your accomodations would beat them.
BTW, I did a quick search for that Motel 6 jingle, and I couldn't find it. Gotta give you credit--you hit the ball outta the park!

Hey, cool pic, SD. He's purdy, too! ;-D Hope
your toe's better, and that Charlie's beginning to get some relief from her supplements. IIRC, our vet said that it could take a good month or two, to really see much improvement.
Enjoyed all your photos--you sure have some nice scenery in your 'hood. ;-D I know the dawgs must be enjoying their walks this time of the year. (Assuming that the weather's still Fall-like, in your neck-of-the-woods.)
Have a nice weekend!

Isn't he just?

Well, 'improving' is a start (for Charlie). Regarding
your toe, honestly, don't remember how long it took for my Mother's toe to heal.

Backatcha, Magiamma. Thanks--I sorta
liked the photo of the row of multi-shade Goldens, too. I noticed that it's not a terribly sharply focused shot, but, it fascinated me that someone got that many dogs to 'sit' on command.

Thanks for Fri. Photos tonight, Janis.
Nice set of beach shots.
My Humming bird feeders have seen an increase in activity recently, so I took a little time the other afternoon to get some shots.
I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
Wow!
Is that the male and female of the same species? The light and colour is dazzling. The water sparkles of condensation are also wow.
The hummingbird colouring and chest patterns remind me of the Shining Cuckoo I've been listening for, but haven't heard yet. I hope they're just silently nesting.
The Shining Cuckoo
Thank you, Janis.
These are Anna's hummingbirds and all but the last shot are males.
I hope you get to hear and see the Shining Cuckoo soon.

Wondering whether Australia,
unlike NZ has hummingbirds I ended up reading here. For many reasons hummingbirds are fascinating. Considering the current evolutionary and sexually prominent issues, I find it even more fascinating to read about hummingbirds.
Wow indeed
I like the angle of the bird in the 2nd to the last, but they're all very nice. I had one flittering around my roses last week.

Do you have Hummingbirds year round or do they head south for the winter?

They go somewhere
I'm not sure where though. And I'm not seeing very many of them the last couple of years. I have a couple of families of birds living in my patio awning. They come back every season and build nests in it. Have to clean bird poop off the windows frequently.

Awesome, SP! You must have some 'magical'
ability, and/or some unreal camera and lens to be able to capture such gorgeous photos of the Hummingbird in flight, the way you did. It's all so 'beyond my pay grade,' it's pitiful.
But, 'thank you,' all the same.

Not much color here on Sunday morning
I should have tried again this morning, it's going to rain for a week...

cool and awakening. Thanks boriscleto.
great set boriscleto...
Really like the forth one and the last one. Where is that and is it recent? Just wondering how the colors are turning where that is.

It was Sunday morning (Oct 14th)
There probably is a lot more color now, but the rain over the next six days will probably be the end of a disappointing leaf season in CNY. I didn't have a chance to get to the Adirondacks this year...or Letchworth...or the Catskills...or the waterfalls I wanted to shoot...

Is a 'nurse' log one that nurses new growth?
yes,
they are an important part of the ecosystem of the forest... though I was tempted to say, that were nurses come from, janis...

Is it a redwood?
I bought some redwood boles and put them in shallow water and got some growth. But it was too hot in the valley for them. Wonder how they would do in the mail?

Outstanding photography janis!
Don't you dare tell me that luck wasn't a major contributor.
Well done!

@ snoopydawg -You know that I have the first photo framed and
hanging in my room here in Germany, right? I wouldn'ti have thought I would need my memorabilia from the US so much. But it's so hard to carry the spirit of them over the Atlantic. It all dies once it leaves its natural environment. I hope one day I can come back and have a home for it over at your side of the pond.

I had forgotten that, mimi
I hope that you enjoy it still. I remember being awed by how the colors stood out after the rain. And I can still remember how it smelled that day. The pleasant smells of wet dirt from the rain. I bet I took over 100 photos of the area. Hope that you can come back to this side of the pond some day too.

Thank you all
for recognising and appreciating the beauty and grace of photographic images, and the femininity inherent within. It’s quite a delicate time in the world today which needs attending to.
femininity inherent?
Please explain.
please?
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Sorry for not being more clear
I was referring to my photos in particular. I felt that somehow they were a reflection of the feminine, and because my attention (due to current events and stories here) was focused in that direction I wrote what I did. Is that a bit more clear?
They were beautiful photos.
I guess I just cant see the difference between beautiful, feminine or masculine.
I also look at everybody as the same. That might be a problem but I hope not.
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

Nice Pricknick, and thank you.
Unbelievable fantastic photos this evening - what a treat !
So soothing and healing and joyful to look at.
Thanks for that Friday evening treat, such a good way to leave the week behind and look forward for some mental rest during the weekend, janis and all contributors here.
Wonderful.
