Friday Open Thread ~ Cancel Culture Goes International

The Summer Olympics, postponed in 2020 by a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, is scheduled to begin on July 23, 2021, in Tokyo. Even though surfing and four other sports will debut at these games, the locals aren’t exactly thrilled.

According to a recent poll, some 83% of the Japanese public wants the Olympics canceled, and protests are frequent. Amid a coronavirus surge that’s left the country short on hospital space and slow on carrying out vaccinations, an association representing thousands of Tokyo doctors wants the games called off. So do Japanese business leaders.

The International Olympic Committee, the nongovernmental authority that organizes the winter and summer games, has acknowledged this erosion of support without changing course. “We listen but won’t be guided by public opinion,” spokesman Mark Adams said.

“We listen but won’t be guided by public opinion”

In other words "we" know what is best for business. To hell with reason and rationale.
'That is not of our concern' quote the elite.

Thanks for the OT.

To the post:

1. The 2020 Olympics should have been cancelled.

2. Failing #1, some runner up that still wanted them should have be chosen.

Best course was #1. Cancelled, not postponed. Perhaps 2021 Olympics should be cancelled too.

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

It's partly about this:

The International Olympic Committee, the nongovernmental authority that organizes the winter and summer games,

Corrupt criminal enterprise that has usurped language and power. They somehow "own" the word "Olympics", even though it predates them by ages and rule them with an arbitrary and capricious iron fist even though they have no intrinsic legitimacy and have pretty much destroyed the original meaning and spirit of the games.

be well and have a good one

I quit paying attention to the Olympics when I realized that they were letting pros compete (like the various Russian teams of the 70s and 80s). Now that they explicitly let pros in to compete in the handful of sports that I care about, there's no reason to pay attention. They really should cancel these games, just for public safety reasons.

If I were an olympic-caliber athlete who had invested my entire childhood and young adulthood in preparing to audition for a gig in the pros on that worldwide stage- I'd be incredibly bummed, but I bet that I could find another stage on which to audition.

Except for the rhythmic gymnasts, I suppose. Cirque Du Soleil has gone bankrupt, so I don't know what they are going to do- they are pretty much screwed. Geico commercials, I guess.

Amusing bunnytrail- I knew a very seriously olympic caliber Greco-Roman wrestler back in college, at the peak of his powers. He was very much into musical theater, and you haven't lived until you've seen a 6'6", 350-lb man dance acrobatically while singing (he performed Thomas Jefferson in our production of 1776, for example). Shook the stage, he did. He later went on to an all-too-brief career in Hollywood while doing computer science as a corporate gig, but passed very prematurely from heart failure at 34. I still miss him.

....takes off like it's supposed to, the world could be in lockdown again during the Olympics. Unsurprisingly, state governments had folks ripping off their masks just in time for the first widespread vaccine failure. Perfect timing as usual. Americans seem determined to be assimilated by this virus.

Meanwhile, China has already completed the 2022 Winter Olympics venues. I was really impressed with the designs when they were being built, but I think the relentless Wuhan Lab Propaganda has finally gotten to me. I've started calling this one, "Intestine Run."

And doesn't this look like "The Bedpan Arena" to you?

to hit some new variant’s spike protein. At that point I hope to have a broad spectrum preventative on hand. Still working on finding a local practitioner who will write me a scrip. Failing that, I’ll get a teleconference appointment and mail order it.

It may be a long time before the “Gods of Medicine” admit their error and add Ivermectin to our COVID-19 treatment arsenal. Perhaps never, as they seem totally, and exclusively, “all in” with their Big Pharma vaccine program.

(Had a recent scare with a sinus bug with a nasty cough. Negative PCR. Yay!)

How to Get Ivermectin

Linked in just removed an highly credentialed doctor for writing something about covid that they didn’t like. The PTB do not want the truth getting out. Another doctor said to stop giving it to kids and was promptly fired. Hey when they get away with censoring congressional testimony you know that things have gone batshit crazy. Sending people home to die instead of….global crime against humanity. On going.

@snoopydawg
This discussion on mRNA vaccine debris circulating widely through our bodies is chilling. It is a clip from a longer discussion which I mean to find and watch. I expect this subject will have the censors in a twit shortly. watch it while you can.

Inventor of mRNA Interviewed About Injection Dangers
By Joseph Mercola

In the video above, DarkHorse podcast host Bret Weinstein, Ph.D., an evolutionary biologist, interviews Dr. Robert Malone, the inventor of the mRNA and DNA vaccine core platform technology,1 and Steve Kirsch, an entrepreneur who has been researching adverse reactions to COVID-19 gene therapies.

I realize that this is an absolutely epic three-hour interview but if you ever valued what I have been teaching, you must at a bare minimum very carefully read this entire article.

Malone is the scientist that actually invented the technology that makes the COVID jab possible and he spills the beans on just how this introduction has been ethically compromised to make informed consent absolutely impossible for the average person. Watch the interview if your schedule allows, but carefully read this article for sure.

Kirsch recently published the article, “Should You Get Vaccinated?” in which he reviews how and why he has changed his mind about the COVID-19 “vaccines.” This after he got both doses of the Moderna shot, as have his three daughters.

@snoopydawg I intend to get a teleconference set up next week. This week was crazy court, and so is next week. I might have a free day next Friday to attend to personal business, such as striving to keep myself alive.

usefewersyllables's picture

that is very near and dear to the hearts of those of us who live in Colorado: a couple of days ago, 3 more people were shot to death up in Arvada. One was an Arvada cop, one was the shooter, and the third was apparently a good samaritan who stepped in to try to help the cop.

When other cops arrived, they shot and killed the shooter. And it turns out that they also shot and killed the good samaritan, just for good measure. Details are still sketchy, but- yay, team.

Just a couple of minutes ago, there was a police apologist on local TV news who claimed that when such things happen, the cops should be allowed to indiscriminately kill whoever they want first, and then ask questions later- that no charges should be brought, since Bad Things Were Happening and there was Danger. I suppose that I disagree with that: my belief is that if the cops are going to even consider using deadly force, they should goddamned well know exactly who they are making dead and why. That's just a quaint (and apparently outdated) belief of mine.

The good samaritan was armed, by the way, and apparently did discharge his weapon towards the shooter at some point. I guess that the next thing the police apologists will say is that he brought it upon himself, like the guy a couple of years ago who got dead for holding a can of Pepsi while laying in his bed when the police no-knocked the wrong address.

Lots of people are getting holes punched in them around these parts, here lately. All I can say is: if you carry a weapon (either concealed or openly) around these parts, and pull it out when Bad Things Happen, you should be fully prepared to get dead on the spot, courtesy of our friends in blue (or whoever else happens to be packing at the time). They aren't going to think twice about it. You know, the fog of war and all that.

I personally have a strong aversion to having holes punched in me. Perhaps it is time to have a national conversation about trying to negotiate an end to the war that our Owners and their armed troops are conducting upon *us*. Just a thought, apropos of nothing...

First, arm the public.
Second, arm the law with bigger weapons.
Third, teach police brutality and protect their deeds.

Let the games begin. Shootout at US corral.

@QMS There was an armed man right next to the shooter, and he stated in interviews that if he had pulled out his gun, the cops would have had no way to tell if he was a Good Samaritan or a shooter. Guns might occasionally protect you from attack, but they seldom serve as effective Good Samaritan tools.

This is NOT in any way what is meant by "cancel culture", THANK THE GODS - it's a pity (especially since it totally ruins what was going to be a "moment of awesome" for all the anime/manga fans out there [no, I'm not actually one of them], since the 1982 manga Akira, one of the most prominent titles in the genre, predicted the 2020 Olympics would be in Tokyo - so that would've been really really cool, right?!?), BUT I definitely call their concerns understandable.
In fact, I'm sure they're right.

I do see value in the Olympics; the values they're meant to embody are especially necessary right now - but who wouldn't have every right and reason to complain about hosting them right now?

Maybe it's time for the first-ever Antarcticalympics?

PLEASE, no misleading nerve-hitter headlines.
