I went to the Zoo yesterday morning. After rain of biblical proportions for the better part of the last month I wanted to make sure it had not floated away. I'm happy to report that the zoo did not float away, but the bearded gentleman in the robes building an ark out front seemed disappointed that the rain had stopped and that was really going to mess up his departure schedule.

It’s funny to think that you imagined noah waiting there for more rain so he could fill his ark with animals. Come to think of it the zoo is the perfect place for noah to be waiting ; ).

I was mesmerised by the Leopard in the cool blue light of morning, and how dreamy s/he looked in it. It looks like Mr. Bonobo was enjoying some morning delight. It must have been a treat to see all of the animals in a morning mood. Thank you for inviting us with you.

I am reading about Lemurs. They are fascinating primates and have quite a diverse number of members, though they have lost so many and are now considered the most endangered mammals.

I like the quality of the light in the morning hours. That's also when the Lemurs are most active during the daytime hours. Speaking of Lemurs, thanks for the link. It's hard to imagine there used to be a species of Lemur that was as large as a Gorilla.
Love your beach shot. Great texture and patterns in the sand.

I haven't done the tour bus at the zoo since the mid 80's. It looks like it's passing the area where the Klipspringers are.

This a Black-tailed Jackrabbit, which is actually a hare. Cottontails are rabbits, Jacks are Hares, like the Snowshoe.

@Socialprogressive great question, one I had never considered. I always like Bugs though.

He certainly did have a big cottony tail, like a cottontail. I am not sure of the particular places they draw lines between rabbits and hares, to see if Warner Bros. included the details to make a determination.

They never (that I recall) did a binomial (scientific name) on him like the coyote and roadrunner...

The tortoise is walking through a wallow filled with water from the rain we had earlier in the week.
