Friday Night Photos Zoomania Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.

I went to the Zoo yesterday morning. After rain of biblical proportions for the better part of the last month I wanted to make sure it had not floated away. I'm happy to report that the zoo did not float away, but the bearded gentleman in the robes building an ark out front seemed disappointed that the rain had stopped and that was really going to mess up his departure schedule.

It’s funny to think that you imagined noah waiting there for more rain so he could fill his ark with animals. Come to think of it the zoo is the perfect place for noah to be waiting ; ).

I was mesmerised by the Leopard in the cool blue light of morning, and how dreamy s/he looked in it. It looks like Mr. Bonobo was enjoying some morning delight. It must have been a treat to see all of the animals in a morning mood. Thank you for inviting us with you.

I am reading about Lemurs. They are fascinating primates and have quite a diverse number of members, though they have lost so many and are now considered the most endangered mammals.

I like the quality of the light in the morning hours. That's also when the Lemurs are most active during the daytime hours. Speaking of Lemurs, thanks for the link. It's hard to imagine there used to be a species of Lemur that was as large as a Gorilla.
Love your beach shot. Great texture and patterns in the sand.

Yes, that was an incredible revelation about the size of that species of Lemur.

Hey Janis,

I have an old camera that's set to 'water colour' mode. Mostly not very interesting, but once in a while something pleasant reveals itself.

Really warmed up the picture and made it seem more interesting. I wish I had a setting like that, but I guess I could use photoshop to do it?

Hope all is well in MN. Love the shot of Fred and the editing to give it the look of a painting. Worth framing and hanging on a wall.

With a water colour feature that has a quirky style. No effort on my part.

but you went to the effort to find a compelling subject. Without that, all the fancy editing wouldn't matter.

So, Lemurs like to get buzzed. Can't say I blame them. I like to get buzzed too. Thanks for the video.

I haven't done the tour bus at the zoo since the mid 80's. It looks like it's passing the area where the Klipspringers are.
Nice effect on the shot of the bus.

Happy Lunar (or Chinese) New Year. I think Sunday is the first day of the celebration.

The Year of the Rabbit

This a Black-tailed Jackrabbit, which is actually a hare. Cottontails are rabbits, Jacks are Hares, like the Snowshoe.

The Rabbit is associated with the qualities of Yin and Water in Chinese Astrology, which are soft and gentle energies. This means that the coming year will be a good time to focus on self-care, relaxation, and inner reflection.

From your photo the rabbit looks also like a reflection on 'alertness'.

@Socialprogressive great question, one I had never considered. I always like Bugs though. Smile

He certainly did have a big cottony tail, like a cottontail. I am not sure of the particular places they draw lines between rabbits and hares, to see if Warner Bros. included the details to make a determination.

They never (that I recall) did a binomial (scientific name) on him like the coyote and roadrunner...

Thanks! A good question is as interesting as a good answer!

What is the Galapagos Tortoise sitting on and why ?

The tortoise is walking through a wallow filled with water from the rain we had earlier in the week.
Rain, snow, and ice all mixed together sounds like no fun at all. Stay warm and dry.
