is also why programs such as SNAP are so good, because that money is directly put back into the economy.

I find it difficult to think that these bobble heads do not understand it. Actually I think they DO understand it, but willfully ignore it because it does not fit the oligarch's and corporate narrative.

When I finally got that revelation, pretty much everything else makes sense. Far too many "Tough on Poverty" people define their lives by how much better they have it than others.

As if life is a zero sum game. Kinda sad, really.

So much for the economy and SNAP.

More than 500,000 and as many as 1 million of the nation’s poorest people will be cut off SNAP (formerly known as the Food Stamp Program) over the course of 2016, due to the return in many areas of a three-month limit on SNAP benefits for unemployed adults aged 18-49 who aren’t disabled or raising minor children. These individuals will lose their food assistance benefits after three months regardless of how hard they are looking for work. The impact will be felt in the 23 states that must or are choosing to reimpose the time limit in 2016.

if Clinton Doesn't get into office, because the way I'm looking at it right now, we're dumping them anyway.

What's she gonna do? Help legislate national feeding the poor criminalization?

Tip: Hungry people drop down the hierarchy of needs. The idea of civilization is rather HIGH on that hierarchy.

a judge has stopped this:

It was no small news that US District Judge Ken Gonzales issued an injunction that prevents NM from enforcing work requirements for certain food stamp (SNAP) recipients. But what really grabbed our attention was the statement from the Human Services Department that as of January there are now over 500,000 New Mexicans receiving the food assistance. It's 514,000 to be precise. With a state population of 2.086 million as of 2014, it means 25% of the state's residents are on food stamps. Wow.

Here's the link I got it from: http://joemonahansnewmexico.blogspot.com/. It can be found in his 3/10 posting. Read the 3/11 posting. He addresses the crisis in Medicaid.

Rethug governor Susanna Martinez is busy racing our state to the bottom. She'd love to turn NM into Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Kansas, Florida. She is the head of the Republican Governor's Association. She's BFF with Christie, too. Lucky us!

I moved from NM to MI 11 years ago. Still miss the August thunderstorms, though.

When I first saw the governor was a Martinez, I had to rush to the Wiki to make sue she was not related. Most of my mother's family is in Santa Fe and the rest are spread throughout the state.

Thanks for the links.

So someone who is unemployed, can't find a job, isn't disabled, not raising children, doesn't need to eat food after April 1.

How much did we the people pay Halliburton in Iraq. How much have Clintons earned just for giving speeches past 14 years ( $153,000,000. for those who don't know) - what the phuque has happened to our country?

Really think I may go back under the duvet, this is making me sick. And so angry I don't even like myself!

I have a blanket. = )

Sanders' statement that if the states did not do their duty, the federal government would step in is very important in light of how the SNAP program was set up (and I don't think many can honestly say that WJC and HRC did not know this would happen):

One of the harshest provisions of the 1996 welfare law limits many childless adults to three months of SNAP benefits in any 36-month period when they aren’t employed at least half-time or in a qualifying work or training program. In setting this limit, the welfare law didn’t require states to offer work or job training to people who were unable to find a job on their own; nor did it provide funds to states for that purpose. And in reality, most states don’t offer these programs, in part because operating a work program that meets the requirements of the time-limit rules with enough slots for everyone at risk of hitting the three-month limit is too expensive.

This article has a lot of good facts about SNAP: Who Are the Low-Income Childless Adults Facing the Loss of SNAP in 2016?

It really helps to understand the cumulative effects of bad policy decisions. They may as well call these "Starve and Die Soon" bills. The callous indifference is staggering - ship the jobs out, don't create new jobs, cut people off from aid. Maybe that guy who thinks the world is being taken over by Lizard People knows something the rest of us have missed.
