Extraordinary results of 2 hours phone banking today NY state
Sharing my general NY phone banking experience:
After 2 hours phone banking, here is a relative sample of approximate results:
- 35% supporting Bernie (a good number of them wanted to volunteer)
- 35% no answer, not home, wrong number
- 10% supporting HRC (or refused to answer)
- 15% N/A (GOP, moved, etc)
It's incredible how many people were for Bernie. Although I would have thought that I was given only identified Bernie supporters remind to go to the polls, the goal was to identify support. Furthermore, another post on this site mentioned someone canvassing with similar results who checked with their field office if they were just given Bernie supporter doors to knock on; the field office had said they were just sent to canvass any homes with unidentified support.
One household in Brooklyn that was called mentioned that Bernie supporters had just knocked on their door just before the call. Also a supporter, the household was happy that volunteers were out in full force.
Geographically, the calls were all over the state. Small sample of HRC supporters mainly in Brooklyn and NYC. Bronx went for Bernie, one was an uber and lyft driver who said all he hears about in his rides are people talking about Bernie.
After this I won't post any more phonebanking info (I will continue to be calling everyday), however, I wanted to share the interesting general experience. Is anyone else seeing a familiar phenomenon?

Thanks for all your effort.

My personal findings
I've phone banked last Saturday, a very little bit on Monday and today. I would say of the people who gave a clear preference between Sanders and Hillary, it was about 60-40 for Sanders. Most of my calls have been "No Answer" so far. I should also note that of all the people I've successfully connected with, I don't believe any of them were under 30 (maybe 35 even, but I can't say that I was paying close attention to that overall).
I'm door knocking here in Pa.
I'm door knocking here in Pa. Very repug town. Some Bernie voters. Some unsure. I was able to get a couple of volunteers and maybe educate a few.
Go Bernie !!
Here in Cleveland...
We are writing postcards to voters in Pennsylvania asking them for their support. I'm about to catch a bus out to the volunteer-run office in Lakewood (it'll be about an hour forty minute round trip via bus for me). I hope to be there for four or five hours today and another six or so tomorrow.
Thanks for your work!
