The End Of The World has been postponed

Manbij, in northern Syria, lies just a short drive away from Dabiq. The Prophet Muhammad is believed to have said that "the last hour will not come" until Muslims vanquished the Romans at "Dabiq or al-Amaq".
So it is no small coincidence that Manbij is capable of triggering a world war.

This is why Manbij and the surrounding area is such a hot spot. Located on the western edge of the American sector, this city of 300,000 also borders the Turkish and Russian sectors. “I have fought ISIS, Turkey, and now I am in Manbij, where all sides meet,” Shiar said, “It is just a little city. Who would have thought that a place like this would attract so much international attention?”
...“Our teacher would often yell at us and say, ‘If you kids continue being such troublemakers, the end of the world will start here in Manbij.’ If I now look at the situation Manbij is in, I often think back on my teacher’s words.”

This is why Turkey's determination to take Manbij, with their jihadist allies, whether the U.S. forces had withdrawn or not, is so scary. Those jihadist forces are enemies of western (Crusader) nations.
Those jihadist forces are currently massing near Manbij, nearly 13,000 in all. Meanwhile, US-backed Kurdish forces are digging in.
All the stars pointed toward disaster.

And then Trump announced a withdrawal from Syria, an order that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Sunday signed. Suddenly a battle between Islam and Christianity is less likely.
[The French have still not gotten out of the way.]
Nevertheless, the 2nd Battle of Manbij was still scheduled to begin tomorrow.

And then Damascus made an unexpected move.

Syrian government troops backed by Russian forces have sent extra troops toward the city of Manbij in coordination with the militia that controls it, a militia spokesman said, as Turkish-backed Syrian rebels said they were preparing to attack it.

The deployment was coordinated with the U.S.-backed militia in Manbij, the spokesman for the Manbij Military Council said.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Damascus, and that they might object to yet another invasion by Turkey. Russia and Iran, allies of Damascus, might also want to say something as well.
Will this deter Turkey's jihadist proxies? We can only hope.

Unless Donald Trump decides to reverse his decision to begin withdrawals from Syria and Afghanistan, cable news for the next few weeks is going to be one long Scanners marathon of exploding heads.

“Today’s decision would cheer Moscow, ISIS, and Iran!” yelped Nicole Wallace, former George W. Bush communications director.

“Maybe Trump will bring Republicans and Democrats together,” said Bill Kristol, on MSNBC, that “liberal” channel that somehow seems to be populated round the clock by ex-neocons and Pentagon dropouts.

Kristol, who has rarely ever been in the ballpark of right about anything — he once told us Iraq was going to be a “two month war” — might actually be correct.

Trump’s decisions on Syria and Afghanistan will lay bare the real distinctions in American politics. Political power in this country is not divided between right and left, and not even between rich and poor.

The real line is between a war party, and everyone else.

@Big Al

Taibbi is saying Trump and his admin are not part of the war party? That's a bunch of bullshit, if so.

Not so much saying "Trump is not part of the war party" as "Trump, a heretofore loyal son of the Duopoly Forever War Party, suddenly performed an about-face that his fellows are not going to like!!".

Wow, man, what a concept! Wink

(I'll take moves in the "peace" direction almost any way I can get 'em....)

IMO.

This is why Kristol is probably right. The Democrats’ plan until now was probably to impeach Trump in the House using at minimum some material from the Michael Cohen case involving campaign-finance violations.

Are they going to impeach him for paying two women from campaign funds? Or is it going to be because he was trying to build a Trump tower in Russia? Obama was fined $375,000 for campaign finance violations and then of course there's Hillary's laundering $84 million of campaign finances and so far she has gotten away with it. I can't find any information on the lawsuit on this. But no one talked about impeaching Obama now did they?

But from what I understand, Cohen was doing stuff on his own and what he accomplished was nil. He never discussed anything with anyone in Russia because no one answered his emails.

The democrats could impeach him on the emoluments clause I think, but then that should bring Hillary's pay to play to the forefront if Huber is actually doing anything about that. Last I heard he's not doing much about it.

Or if the democrats really want to remove him from office they could impeach him for war crimes. This should be easy to prove don't you think?

I don't understand why congress has gotten into such a tizzy because Trump is going to continue helping the Saudis, continue planning on regime change in Iraq and all the other covert and unreported wars. And will Trump bring the private mercenaries out of Syria? Will he be sending Eric Prince's goons to Afghanistan and make that war totally private? Nah. The defense industry is still going to receive lots of money so I'm thinking that the outrage in congress is just more kabuki crap.

Hey. What's happening in Ukraine? Will the Atlantic council talk Trump into sending the navy to the Kerch straits? Stay tuned, American hegemony is not over yet.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.
