Don V. Hill - MY Social Security at 62 in 22.
Some of my facebook crowd were chiding me for causing Hillary to lose 10,000,000 votes between Barack 2008 and Hillary 2016. I wish.
In response, they forced me to really, logically, explicitly explain age 62, coming in 2022.
From my paternal & maternal grandfathers, through the uncles & siblings & father, there were 8 males and there is only me. A few made it to or past 62 as wrecks from Mad Men era style unhealthy living. Back when a few were still kicking, in 1986, my congress critter Speaker of the House Tip O'Neil made a huge bargain with Ronnie Raygun to extend the retirement of those my age and younger, all so Wall Street could rip off the public even more. Since I was just a cook in a Boston hotel, I was too uneducated to understand all the fancy explanations from all the Ivy'd excuse makers of the WAPO & NYT & ... whatever. I'm kinda broken record on my perception of that particular sell out.
Here is what I thought about my prospects for Social Security under Don or Hill:
Don:
IF / when Don makes nice with some subset of the repuke establishment for who the hells knows what Don is up to, then my Social Security will be bundled off to the highest bidder / best sounding thief. (see the last 30++ years of Repuke governance.) Otherwise, Melania or some family member will be running some crooked racket outta off shore banks. I get to retire on catfood.
Hill:
As a function of favors owed and asses kissed, some cliques of well connected yuppie scum will be in charge of pilfering my Social Security so all kinds of Kennedy School of Government / Think Tank thieves can live large "managing" community money for the benefit of thieving yuppie scum. I get to retire on catfood.
Oh yeah - I also had insight about Medicare!

My health security is a function of what I can get from the Dollar Store: band aids which don't stick too good, almost expired aspirin, watered down rubbing alcohol.

Welcome to C-99, nice to have you here...
If you have a lot of Hillary Supporters infesting your FaceBook page and you really want to light their tail on fire share this with them...
The Hillary Clinton Campaign and DNC Proposal To Give Us President Donald Trump
I can assure you from my "I Told You So" tour over at DKos, they have an unusually strong reaction when you inform them that the Hillary Campaign, the DNC, and they, gave us the Trump Presidency...
Just throw them in a bucket of gasoline afterwards to try to put the fire out...

I had over 8000 comments on dkos and about 50
in the last year or two. I just stopped giving a shit about their rah-rah echo chamber. There are soooooooo many things falling into that category -
your lips move and I can't hear what your saying.
But then I sigh; and, with a piece of scripture,
Tell them that God bids us do good for evil:
And thus I clothe my naked villany
With old odd ends stolen out of holy writ;
speaking of lips
I figured out how to tell if a Clinton was lying in public back in the early 90's.
It's soo simple really. You know they are lying,.....

Comfortably numb
precisely.
Better yet, get off Facebook.
Have some privacy.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
An insider note: My husband took SS at 62
and died at 63. So he was right about early take. I was 57 then, and a surviving spouse without dependent kids cannot collect until age 60. I had his savings to work from, lucky me. I now collect survivor's benefits, and MY SS payout will be less when I turn 65. So I will stay his widow until I turn 70, when the bonus SS for delay will be about the same amount. IF nothing changes. LOL

This is what I hate about our collective situations . . .
The constant evaluations of "cost/benefit" for this, that, or the other option for what I can, or cannot anticipate is debilitating. I am all for living the examined life, and all that tommyrot. But for crying out loud, enough is enough already.
If I am successful in extracting us from here and relocating to there, we will be a part of a vibrant community of activists. If I am not successful . . . **Splat**
This is like threading the needle in a wingsuit, and I am acrophobic.
It is unacceptable. There has always been enough money.
There is plenty of money now. A few fat cats just have to give up their second yacht is all.
The country is on the path to violent revolution. Once you impoverish people this much and then tighten the screws you get an explosion.
The rise in racist incidents in the aftermath of Trump will provide the sparks needed to light the tinder. Saw the same spike in the UK but they don't have the same wealth of dry understory to combust. But May is working hard on correcting that it appears.
Eliminate--don't just raise--the cap on pay-in for Social
Security. Problem solved.

Costs Dem donors too much money though.
There is also of course, housing
Ending up with your self crafted, materials scavenged, tent destroyed by the police.
Along with all your belongs.
Being homeless in our 60's is gonna be tough.

Trump won't be president for 22 years.
But that doesn't mean that your vision of the future is wrong. SS is basically a Ponzi scheme and unless the young people become much more prosperous than they are now, there will be funding problems.
Maybe Warren should run for president in 2020. She isn't perfect, but she does understand economics.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
The endorsement of HRC...
Weighs heavily on my mind about Warren...
Call me a skeptic but...

SS is an intergenerational transfer not a Ponzi scheme
Until RR, current workers paid for their parents. Then the tax was doubled to pay for tax cuts for the rich. Now the "birth dearth" and income inequality have strained even the doubled rate. Increasing worker pay would automatically increase SS funds and failing that a mere 1% tax increase on both worker and employer would let it squeak over the hump.
The Ponzi scheme meme comes from Wall Street which IS a ponzi scheme.

Nope. Not a ponzi scheme...
It should have been left alone as intended and never become part of a slush fund just so that G. Herbert Bush, war criminal, and crew could make their numbers look better. That was criminal. It is a trust or is supposed to be. And now they want to entrust this fund to Wall Street. May Ryan die tomorrow. It would be a blessing to this planet.

Probably we will be fooled again.
But maybe we will wise up and won't be fooled again.

Social Security is basically a Ponzi scheme.
This statement is so bad it is not even wrong.
"Social Security is an intergenerational transfer" is similarly flawed.
There are those that want to raid the fund. There are those that do not trust actuarial calculations. Mistakes were made, but no one wanted to hand it over to the real professionals, we have to protect the wealthy and the marketplace privateers in our midst.
As originally conceived it was to be self-funded. We all pay into the fund. Some of us die before getting any benefits, the rest of us get the benefits left behind. If this had been left in the hands of those of us that actually understand the mathematical details, and know how to actually program the computers, and are actually honest, there would be no "debate" about the solvency of Social Security.
Scared me for a minute
When I read your headline I went to the SEC page on Ponzi schemes to get some rebuttal ammo; then I began to read your text and realized you were still the sane, reasonable person I thought you were. Whew.
