Do we really need a new party or can we change the DNC?

I used to think, "There is no way this can continue, both parties are corrupt and not salvageable."

But then an outsider came into the party, an outsider that came from a group of outsiders that I used to be a part of before I moved to a closed primary state.

A man with Crazy white hair. A man that shouted a lot, but with passion, sometimes even rage at an unjust system, but never with hate.

A man that Voted with the Democrats more often than Democrats did.

A man that spoke to my political and moral soul. (And it says a lot for an atheist like me to use that verbage)

I have hope now. For the first time a really damned long time I have actual, justifiably reasonable hope.

Hope that MAYBE we can take our party back from the 3rd Wayers.

Maybe we can present a Clear Progressive message with Sanders at the Bully Pulpit and bring a wave in 2018.

Maybe we can turn the Democratic party BACK to being about Progressive ideas and take it back from the less crazy republicans that moved to the democratic party and converted it to a Center right branch of Rep. Inc.

But one thing is for sure, we can't do it tomorrow, Next Month, or Next year.

But we can start it today.

It will take us years to undo over 3 decades worth of damage done by both parties, but damn it, for the first time in a long time I feel like we can do it.

Will we be doing it with the Democrats? I don't know. I hope so.

But do it we will.

Because today, the people of Michigan gave me something that was flagging.

Hope for tomorrow.

I really shouldn't write shit when I have had half a bottle of wine and a really good joint, I get all preachy and sounding like I am trying to be deep, lol!

I am only half embarrassed though, cause I do mean it. Smile

Because I'm sure you speak for many of us. It's not surprising that we're feeling hopeful and sentimental and a little bit tipsy, whether or not we've partaken of wine or weed. We have the right, frankly. Like you said, it's been many a year since we had reason. And if that doesn't suck, I don't know what does, that our hope was stolen from us along with everything else.

I'm continually reminded of Sojourner Truth's words: "If my cup won't hold but a pint, and yours holds a quart, wouldn't you be mean not to let me have my little half measure full?" The unfortunate reality is that there are people in the world who ARE mean enough to deny us our little half measure full while hoarding more than they and theirs can use in ten lifetimes. It is what it is, but that doesn't mean it has to be that way. That's Bernie's message, that's why we support him, that's why tonight's win feels so important. It's right and it's good, and whether or not we ultimately prevail, we've put the Masters of the Universe on notice that we're up for the fucking fight.
