Couple Cooking: quick dessert
What can be quicker and easier that putting a scoop of ice cream atop an ice cream cup, then topping it with a syrup, and whipped cream? Anything?
Just get a couple involved!
4 ice cream flavors on hand to choose from, 4 syrups to choose from, and whipped cream or just no whipped cream, but it is there if one chooses.
And then, A asks B what B wants. "You choose" was the reply. A asks B to come help. Like, select your ice cream, scoop out however much you wish while A steadies the cup, point your finger to the toppings A has on the kitchen island, then stand there, say "enough" when, in fact, enough is, well...enough, to signal A to stop squeezing the various and sundry bottles. That way, A is not required to get instructions from outer space. Way too much to ask, huh?
Now, A was not only diplomatic, but generous in toppings. And will be generous as the occasional calls for it henceforth. The hope is that B will lend a hand in the ice cream cup dessert in the future.
B chose vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, whipped cream topping.
A chose Pecans 'N Pralines ice cream (Blue Bell brand) topped with caramel syrup and white chocolate syrup.
We are happy and speaking to one another since we ate the ice cream.

I stock
ice cream in vanilla, the pralines blend, buttered pecan, and a Belgian brand of vanilla with white chocolate candy.
Syrup is white and milk chocolate, strawberry. and caramel.
All this goes on pies, pastries, cakes, and what not. I am not a frequent dessert person, but if I want it, I want choice.
What is just hilarious is the hoops A goes though to get B to just CHOOSE.
Now, I am beginning to sound like Pelosi and her refrigerators and specialty ice cream meant to get through tough times, aren't I ?
I must say, the whole ice cream cups thing is bringing back memories of youth for A and B, as well as immediate pleasure.
A is within 5 lbs. of that doctor's weight guide, and B is within 10 lbs. We are active, have no diabetes issues, or any other health problems.

Just Texas Pecans.
They have a very buttery flavor. I still have some from last year that I picked up off my office lawn. I have 3 huge pecan trees there.
The pecan tree here at home produces what is commonly known as "hog nuts". They are brick hard, small, but if you do crack the shell, the pecans are delicious.

A Filipino friend of mine served me his mother's homemade avocado ice cream last summer and it was the BEST thing I've ever eaten. Skeptical that avocado would blend well with cream and sugar? You couldn't be more mistaken. It's a lovely flavor. But then I'm a Californian and we do love our avocados.

I love vanilla with white chocolate candy
imported from Belgium. The brand is Magnum, found everywhere, including Walmart. Otherwise, staples are all Blue Belle Ice Cream, from the creamery in Brenham, Texas. Homemade Vanilla, Ice Cream Cone, featuring sugar cone coated with dark chocolate, Buttered Pecan, and Pralines and Pecan, featuring vanilla, caramel sauce, and pecans.The strawberry ice cream is wonderful, but isn't as versatile with pastries and so forth. I am not a big fan of chocolate, but occasionally get some on sale, serve it will all kinds of sauces or over a pastry.
I think if I drank a few beers, I would like avacado ice cream, chica.
