Chuckling at Twitter, Just for Fun

In the wake of the huge success of Jeremy Corbyn, the neoliberals on Twitter have been having a meltdown. In response to their complaints, many Berniecrats started posting responses with the hashtag #BernieWouldHaveWon. Joan Walsh seemed particularly annoyed by this meme which only inspired more responses with the Bernie hashtag. For some reason, I cannot find her tweets. Maybe she deleted them.

I thought I would share some with you here just for laughs. The meme #BernieWouldHaveWon seems to have begun in late May and here are a few from back then. Some of these were tweeted to Clinton herself and to Trump.

The the unexpected success of Jeremy Corbyn spawned a whole new series of tweets bearing this hashtag in the last three days.

And finally David Sirota sums it all up.

One of the YouTube Comments on the video began with the words "Bernie come back..."

whenever something important happens, if it threatens the establishment narrative, it's AMAZING how fast Twitter's "Completely Impartial Algorithm" determines that the hashtag should no longer show up on searches or trends.

It's a perfectly useless source of news. However, I do enjoy seeing a few sides to each story, since I follow folks all over the political spectrum.

My major takeaway recently is:

NOBODY TRUSTS THE MEDIA.

Even NPR has lost trust with their relentless stenographing of the RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA narrative.

CNN is saying that Comey's testimony shows Russia controversy is an anti Trump witch hunt.
When the media is throwing in the towel on this, it's over.
Comey's testimony

Instead, the American people witnessed a thorough debunking of the mainstream media's false reporting and the Democrats' anti-Trump hysteria.
Their story crumbled as Comey repeatedly confirmed key facts highlighted by President Donald Trump in recent weeks.
Specifically, Comey clearly stated that President Trump was at no point the subject of any FBI investigation. The former FBI Director also made clear that the President never asked for the Russia investigation to be dropped.

Chris Mathews said that this is coming apart after he watched Comey's testimony.
Remember that both Hillary and Barack laughed when Trump said that the election was rigged, but now they are blaming Russia Smile

Hillary's supporters like to remind us that Bernie lost the primary by 4 million votes. But if she had to cheat in order for her to win, can't you just imagine how she would have reacted if she lost to Bernie if the primary had been fair?

Clinton investigation. Bill knew very well what meeting with her would do to the investigation and I think that was why he did it. Remember he used to be a lawyer before he was disbarred after he perjured himself.
She should have refused to meet with him, but after she did she should have recused herself and used a special investigator.
Comey's poor excuse for not charging her because he couldn't find intent is just crap.
You know more than I do about how one handles classified information, and the second she made the decision to use her private email server was when intent comes in. She did that to hide her emails from a FOIA and so that Chelsea could have access to it for her work at the Clinton foundation.

I too think that if Bernie had won, he would never live to be president. Too much money in play for that to happen.

ETA: The other way Lynch interfered with the investigation was when she told Comey to call it a matter, not an investigation.m
The investigation into Hillary's emails were just as rigged as the primary was. Even Bernie played his part when he said he was tired of hearing about her emails. Most of the information on them didn't become clear until they were discovered at the Benghazi hearings.
He didn't look into the many voting irregularities and now he has signed on to the Russian propaganda bullshit.

From all that I've heard and read, under no circumstances would Bernie have been allowed to win the Dem Party primary. IOW, if they (the corporatist MSM, and the bipartisan Elites) hadn't been able to interfere in the primary election process to ensure that he didn't get the nomination, he would simply have left the race 'for reasons relating to family matters,' or some such thing.

(Even Dr Stein and Dr Flowers said that he was a team player, when discussing his refusal to run third party.)

I listen to approximately 15 hours of talk radio (most weeks) featuring the nation's 'top reporters' (on XM Radio). Those reporters had absolutely no concerns about Bernie winning the primary, much less a general election. From time to time, when he had a few weeks that were particularly good, they would go so far as to tick off all the ways, and angles which the MSM (them) and the Republicans would go after him--if, by some fluke, it became necessary, in order to stop him. Remember, folks on satellite radio are much more frank that the typical Cable News talking head.

Bottom line, it was totally clear--by their own words--that the MSM was complicit in rigging our elections. Personally, I don't believe that we have any semblance of a democracy, today. (Not to sound alarmist.)

Have a good one!

@irishking Bernie started out saying he wouldn't be a "spoiler" before the first vote was even cast. He ran on a platform of tearing down the corrupt establishment, while staying completely hands-off HRC, one of the biggest grifters in the game. When the primary was stolen from those who voted for him, he claimed she won fair and square and did more campaigning for Her than she did. He's ignored the fraud lawsuit and jumped on board with the Russia nonsense. And he's steadfastly refused to consider a third party run, even though the DNC has all but announced that they have no intention of taking his suggestions and if he runs again, to expect the same results.

So, he's either sheepdogging or he can only see the dust in other's eyes while ignoring the 2x4 in his.

@Dr. John Carpenter
He wasn't sheepdogging--then.

How do I know he wasn't sheepdogging then? by the way the media reacted.
The media reacted to Bernie Sanders' campaign the same way they reacted to Occupy: 1)no coverage, 2)sneering coverage, 3)outright attacks (he's racist! he's a gun-toting maniac who supports child killers! he's sexist!).

You don't bring out the character assassinations against your sheepdog. You oppose your sheepdog, but calmly, and without trying to destroy them. Like HRC's campaign--and the press--reacted to Martin O'Malley, who was the actual left-flank sheepdog designed to lead the left to Hill.

Bernie wasn't supposed to make enough noise for them to use him for anything in particular. That's why they were so pissed beginning in April when the "That wasn't the deal!" remarks started coming out in the press, and the "Bernie had better watch himself" comments as well. Suddenly this old man without much photogenic glamor or charisma who called himself a socialist, for God's sakes, known only by 3% of the population, had started a sensation that they hadn't predicted. That really frosted them.

Then, once they had contained the threat, they recruited him as a sheepdog par excellence. That started in June.

was persuaded to run in order to have a "New Dem" candidate, in the event that FSC's campaign blew up--due to the email kerfuffle, or whatever. You might say that he was the Dem Party's 'backup' candidate. (I have a screenshot of him on the cover of a New Dem pub, with Kathleen Townsend Kennedy.)

I think that the Dem Party Leadership wanted both a ConservaDem candidate (Webb), and a progressive candidate (Bernie)--in order to keep the activist Base, and what was left of the Reagan Democrats before this election cycle, in the veal pen.

Obviously, FSC had long ago been coronated. A couple years ago, I posted the December 2012 transcript in which James Carville (on a Sunday political program) declared that FSC would be the presumptive Dem Party Presidential nominee, without so much as one vote cast! I thought that it was mind-boggling that anyone would have that much audacity.

(BTW, not sure where Chafee figured in--he may be the one unscripted Dem candidate in that election cycle.)

Granted, in the end, Bernie's popularity almost upset their applecart. The Dem PtB clearly never anticipated it, any more than it appears that Bernie did. IMO, the Dem Leadership probably convinced Warren to sit out the election, because they deemed her to be too much of a threat to FSC's candidacy. (Actually, I don't think that Warren has ever been particularly interested in the Office.)

I believe that this entire Russia ruse is intended to give FSC 'cover,' and/or help her 'save face,' so that she can make another run in 2020 without being a laughingstock.

And, if FSC does decide to sit it out, I believe that Kirsten Gillibrand will likely be her annointed successor.

If nothing else, I sincerely hope that 2016 illustrated why we shouldn't rely on politicians to lead a political revolution.

Like it or not, the onus is on us.

There's a lot of ways to get compromised. Not all of them mean you're a shitty person.

I don't know why, if we believe the Wikileaks email leaks from Podesta and the DNC to be real, we don't take them at their word regarding Bernie.

I can't remember what Clintonite asshole said to Podesta that "we have leverage" on Bernie, because it's been a while since I looked at those emails and, interestingly, the names of the Clinton flunkies tend to drop out of my mind when I'm not looking at it daily. I think it's a mental defense mechanism. But I remember that statement was in the emails.

The word "leverage" is noteworthy. It's not how people talk about bribing someone. It's how people talk about bringing pressure.

The Clintons/DNC had a way of bringing pressure on Bernie. Enough to keep him in line. He may or may not be trying to get out from under that, but--with all sympathy to him--I can't wait around for that to happen. And I certainly can't follow him while he's spouting that Russia nonsense, which is dangerous.

On May 26, 2015, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook sent an email to campaign chairman John Podesta titled “Sanders criticism” expressing displeasure at some mild insinuations the Vermont senator had made about the Clintons’ massive wealth. Mook is the same man the Observer reports was already conspiring to rig the Democratic primary in April of 2014 by manipulating the scheduling of state primaries, as evidenced by this email, also from the Podesta leaks.

“This isn’t in keeping w the agreement,” Mook wrote to Podesta of the supposed Sanders infraction. “Since we clearly have some leverage, would be good to flag this for him. I could send a signal via Welch–or did you establish a direct line w him?”

The aforementioned “Welch” is most likely Rep. Peter Welch, who was one of the first Democratic lawmakers to publicly endorse Sanders.

Mook wrote this email in late May, after Bernie had said this on TV:

"Theoretically you can be a multibillionaire and in fact be very concerned about the issues of working people,” Sanders replied. “Theoretically that’s true. When you hustle money like that, you don’t sit in restaurants like this. You sit in restaurants where you spend, I don’t know what they spend, hundreds of dollars for dinner and so forth. That’s the world you are accustomed to. And that’s the worldview that you adopt. I’m not going to condemn Hillary and Bill Clinton because they’ve made a lot of money. That type of wealth has the potential to isolate you from the reality of the world.”

I agree they didn't expect Bernie to be a real problem, and when he started to become one, they got very ... let's say, irritated. He had caught fire, and was putting real pressure on the campaign by not dropping out. They were pissed.

I too wonder what leverage they had/have. Hum...

FBI investigating Jane Sanders for possible fraud

Federal investigators are looking into allegations that Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) wife, Jane Sanders, falsified loan documents while she served as the president of Burlington College, according to multiple reports.

Maybe it's this, maybe it's something else. But we know they exerted some kind of leverage to rein him in.

Service Protection the afternoon that he arrived back in D.C.--after he formally endorsed FSC.

The article says that it is unusual to retain protection once another candidate becomes the 'presumptive nominee.' I think that means that AP had declared the race over, due to the electoral college count, or something. (Which is not to say that I agreed with their logic, but that they claimed to be basing it 'on the numbers.')

Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire

JULY 12, 2016, 10:37 P.M.

Secret Service signs off for Bernie Sanders

. . . With his formal endorsement of Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, Bernie Sanders parted ways with what's been a part of his entourage for much of the last year: Secret Service agents.

Sanders lost his protection on Tuesday after arriving back in Washington following his campaign event alongside Clinton earlier in the day in Portsmouth, N.H., his campaign confirmed.

Sanders, who had remained in the presidential race despite Clinton becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee in early June, had come under fire for retaining Secret Service protection since then. . . .

Today, DiFi is oversight for Homeland Security and the dirty spy ops. What does it mean.
We Californians have a right to privacy. But what does it mean in the digital age?

... In 1972, California voters approved a state constitutional amendment guaranteeing a right to privacy. The proponents’ argument, advanced by then state Sen. George Moscone and then Assemblyman Ken Cory, focused on an all-knowing state.

“The proliferation of government snooping and data collecting is threatening to destroy our traditional freedoms,” they wrote in the ballot argument for the measure. “Government agencies seem to be competing to compile the most extensive sets of dossiers of American citizens. Computerization of records makes it possible to create ‘cradle-to-grave’ profiles on every American.”

They also wrote about industry collecting and storing data: “Each time we apply for a credit card or a life insurance policy, file a tax return, interview for a job, or get a driver’s license, a dossier is opened and an informational profile is sketched. Modern technology is capable of monitoring, centralizing and computerizing this information which eliminates any possibility of individual privacy.”

RIP George Moscone.

So this narrative forming that if we simply correct the system, or the democratic party corrupt leadership, we will have democracy, is troubling because it diffuses the calls for changing this political system. In other words, election after election, we'll just keep doing the same thing in a system that cannot provide national democracy to 330 million people. It is impossible. I'd admired the JADL for much of my life. Finding out that they were the ones to arrange for our cops to be trained to be racist neo-Stasi was horrific--even when I knew that cops in America had those tendencies anyway.

@Big Al Not only did he not want to win, he clearly never thought it possible. I think as Henry Wallace does that the phenomenal response to his campaign took him completely by surprise. Took the rest of the establishment by surprise too. Sort of like Trump's win also took them by surprise. That's why their propaganda and endless whinging poor Hillary narratives are turned up to 11.

It's not like they can't manage Trump. What irritates them, I think, is that they weren't able to predict the people's behavior correctly. They don't like that.

Their reaction lately is rather childish, sort of like trying to pound the square peg into the round hole with a child's plastic mallet--the round hole being the "Of course we supported Hillary against that extremist! It was outside interference that prevented her rise to the White House!", and the square peg being the minds of the majority of Americans, and the plastic mallet being the press.

Blah blah blah blah fucking blah, they've been hammering at it constantly.

I think he will lie under oath without realizing it. So, if someone lies without knowing it, is it still a lie ... or is it showing the truth about his mental conditions as being 'unacceptable and unfit' for public consumption?

or the slightest interest to spend its past time to wonder about who in America is lying and who is not.

I guess my interest is over.

is just how many of the establishment American neoliberals on Twitter are absolutely terrified of what happened in the UK. In effect, Jeremy Corbyn may be the most powerful politician in that country as Theresa May has been severely wounded politically by the election. So why would the neoliberals in this country be so aghast at Corbyn's new power? Perhaps this is a signal that neoliberalism is dying and the people have caught on to it. Maybe the establishment is seeing their grasp worldwide becoming loosened.

I saw the Bernie would have won meme as being mostly a taunt toward the establishment, especially the Democrats. There is something happening out there and people are waking up. We need to bury neoliberalism and with it the Democratic party forever. I am hoping that the Corbyn phenomenon in the UK may be a start of a social movement worldwide. Yes, I can dream.

I'm not so sure. When he said he was tired of Hillary's "damn emails" I worried that she would come out of the hearings smelling like a rose and for a while it seemed she would. The press made her testimony sound so brave, courageous and bold.

Yet Bernie continued to draw large crowds while Hillary met in small exclusive groups with large donors. At Netroots Nation Bernie was beset by members of Black Lives Matter, but Hillary had a member of that group thrown out of one of her intimate events even though the woman had paid the required donation to attend.

It is highly unusual that we are still hearing from someone who has lost a primary at least as often if not more so than Hillary who lost the general election. Bernie keeps the issues before the press that the 99% care about. TPTB may be trying to use him, but he is using the MSM as well as non-traditional media to keep real issues before the public. In the UK Corbyn has done the same with amazing success. This may be the chance for the 99% to regain our voice in government. Only time will tell.

must lead a new party/movement/revolution or some such.
The masses must lead that movement, the electoral system must be changed, so that, if you elect people from that movement to be your representatives, they can be from any party or not.
All that is not given. If you just could focus on changing the system, before thinking of choosing a "leader".

@mimi I have been making this point all along. Real change will come from we the people in the form of a social movement. The political change comes as a result of the social movement.

@Lily O Lady back when Occupy was around. That is why Obama and Homeland Security had to declare Occupy as a terrorist group and shut them down as quick as possible. Most the shut downs occurred in cities with Democratic mayors too.

Occupy Atlanta which I thought was sad at the time. Fast forward to 2016 when Lewis said Democrats don't want "free stuff" and that he didn't see Bernie during the civil rights movement, but he did see the Clintons. Now it all makes sense.

and essays about it. Here is an article, which I like very much that goes intelligently into the issue to Impeach the US Constitution. Spot on, imo, explaining why it's necessary to change the system first.

My connection is crawling and slow. I won't excerpt. But I would love to impeach the US constitution for sure ... in my dreams. Smile Have a look.
