Buying the vote.

I call bullshit. I also know that it takes more than 51 votes (counting kambama) to make anything happen in the senate as it currently is governed.
No different than trump.

"The debate over $2,000 isn't some abstract debate in Washington. This is about real lives," Biden said. "If you send Jon and the reverend to Washington, those $2,000 checks will go out the door, restoring hope and decency and honor for so many people who are struggling right now."

Thanks for being the first to mention “bribery.” That’s what it is plain and simple. Symptomatic of the rot in our political system.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it should have been 2K a month to citizens since the start of the pandemic, like other civilized countries around the world. But to dangle it as a bribe to get people to vote democratic, well, that’s worthy of Trump, except it’s Biden offering the bribe. Then again, who knows better than the fine art of taking money for political favors than the democrats.

Plus there are all the blue dawg democrats that have already come out against more money. Pelosi keeps blaming McConnell for holding up the money, but she has let the bill for $2k a month sit on her desk since March. Wonder when people will wake up and see the dance between Pelosi and McConnell. They ain’t enemies.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@Pricknick
but declaring the end to “everything” is hyperbole.

So sad that we'll take everything with us before the oceans receed agaain.

We humans are literally predators sitting on the top of the food chain, totally dependent on the life forms “beneath” us. This includes the plant kingdom and simple life forms in the oceans that have the ability to collect the energy of light from the sun to transform elemental matter into compounds that support life. The rise and fall of the oceans and temperatures of expected climate change will not erase life.

As humans, we naturally tend to value human life above all others. But isn’t the reality that the vast web of the simplest life forms, the shoulders of which all other “higher” life forms stand, are the roots of all life on this planet?

Humans are recent developments on Earth, and have, by both their intelligence and their stupidity, set fire to their own house. Whatever remains of life when the fire burns out will rebuild itself. On the cosmic scale the failure of humans to understand and respect the interdependency of life in this world will be of little import.

It is a tragedy to be sure, for all of the life forms which will be expunged, but certainly not the end of the world.

Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you.

There would be a run on pearls and fainting couches like the world has never seen.

(And, as we all know, it's pure BS. There's more than two Senate votes needed to pass this, if they wanted.)

He saw all these promises of the $2000 check as evidence that Biden's mind can be changed and that Bernie has influence on him.

I wrote to Sirota and said I thought this was the most cynical and shameful thing I've seen a politician do... it's practically blatant vote buying! This just goes to illustrate the total lack of moral sense on the part of Biden and the Democrats.

Just awful!!!!

Joe keeps calling one candidate "the reverend". Have fun finding that name on the ballot folks. Joe probably can't remember the guy's name.
