Apology to caucus99percent re: Loretta Lynch
In three essays, and possibly elsewhere on this board, I wrote that former Attorney General Lynch had recused herself from the Clinton email "matter." This was incorrect. The essays are:

https://caucus99percent.com/content/last-week-double-standards-obama-v-t...
https://caucus99percent.com/content/rooskies-and-comey-and-lynch-oh-my
The correct information is:
Attorney General Loretta Lynch acknowledged Friday that her private meeting with Bill Clinton has “cast a shadow” over an FBI-led investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server and said she plans to accept investigators’ final recommendations. However she will not recuse herself from the case. The FBI is investigating the private server Hillary Clinton used while Secretary of State and whether Clinton or her aides broke any laws in their handling of classified information. Lynch said a team of career members of the Justice Department and FBI will present her with recommendations on how to proceed once the investigation has concluded and that she plans to accept the guidance.
Lynch, who appeared Friday at the Aspen Ideas Festival, said she had decided to accept whatever recommendation she receives well before Monday’s impromptu meeting with Clinton’s husband at an airport in Phoenix, Arizona, which raised questions about the integrity of the inquiry.
Lynch reiterated multiple times during the discussion that she will not play a role in determining the findings of the investigation and gave no indication of when it may conclude.

IOW, although Lynch should have recused herself, she only slid herself out from under public accountability, leaving former FBI Director Jim Comey twisting in the wind while she meddled behind the scenes. I apologize for unintentionally misleading readers of my essays by portraying Lynch's actions in this "matter" as more honorable than they were. In other news, our President lies regularly and has been doing that since....always, as have most or all of our Presidents.
But Russia undermined our confidence in our government and our institutions.

Thanks! Very kind. But, no promises.
Even the NYT has to publish retractions from time to time--and their writers get paid.
Small correction.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Thanks. Excellent point!
I can't speak to all 45, but I will modify the essay to reflect your comment as much as I can.
IMO
Lynch obstructed justice. She knew exactly what she was doing too.

As did Comey.

Per Comey's own testimony, he went along with Lynch and also with Trump--until Trump fired him--all the while, according to him, being uncomfortable with it. All this stuff about his integrity dates back to the Ashcroft matter,* which included Comey's anger at Card's and Gonzalez's going over Comey's head. Comey's integrity has not been on display in the Clinton matter or his dealings with Trump.

honest people
There are indeed honest people in this world.
But most of them are poor and powerless because of that fact.
The few who are neither poor nor powerless are doubtless afraid for their lives -- or at least afraid that they will be rendered poor and powerless, a fear which the evidence shows to be fully justified.

Hillary is Too Big To Jail...
In the 1970's I held a Secret Clearance while in the USAF working as an Electronic Countermeasures Technician on F-111 Bombers, (They were labeled as Fighter/Bomber but in their entire history of use they were credited with 1 enemy kill when an Iraqi Mirage Fighter flew into the ground attempting to shoot an EF-111A down.)
I knew in no uncertain terms that if:
That I could spend time as a shoemaker at Fort Leavenworth...
In the 40 years since working on these aircraft which were retired from the USAF inventory about 20 years ago I haven't talked to anyone about the systems I worked on.
In addition, Hillary as head of the State Department was the person overall responsible for the classification of documents. In that position the retroactive classification doesn't fly as it was her responsibility to classify the documents. She was allowed one level of classification error as far as level of classification. A jump of Unclassified to Top Secret or SAP is going through multiple levels of classification.
Bottom Line... Hillary belongs in jail on this one item alone...
But then again she's one special person...

I just wonder how a woman, who didn't know she
was not supposed to use a private email server for official communications as Sec. of State, would even know exactly what documents (especially if it relates to technological stuff) has to be on what level of
"secrecy". She never seemed to cross over as a technological whiz kid.

hope this doesn't sorta bleed over into misogyny, if you know what I mean.
butcher of the english language.
The worst misogyny
of this whole thing is the pretense that she had no intent because she was an air-headed floozie who couldn't tell the difference between State Department property and her private business and didn't know the people of the United States had a right to records of State Department business and communications.
that would be worse .../nt

and if Hillary Clinton is too big to jail,
the US is too small to lead. Wouldn't that be an "Armutszeugnis" (evidence of incapacity)?. I don't care if it's H. Clinton or any other person in position of power, who does criminal and illegal violations, somehow it should be possible to "have justice served" to those folks, no?

HA!
I had bookmarked this essay written by older&wiser
I re-read it last night and o&w did an outstanding job on Comey, Lynch and Hillary.
Hopefully people will take time to read it again. It's brilliant, which I wrote the first time I read it.
There are lots of comments from people who have apparently moved on.

I too wonder why they left and where they went. I see some have gone back to DK for some reason, but others have been commenting on the Bernie Reddits.
That essay was outstanding, full of links and showed how corrupt our system of government is.
As I have been saying, the second she decided to use her private email server showed that she INTENDED to break the law. You know better than I do what she did was illegal. Even if she didn't intend anything, she still knew she was breaking the law. Especially after she didn't turn her emails over when she left the state department. It wasn't until the Benghazi hearings that people were aware she didn't. They told her to turn them in, but she erased 30,000. She deliberately made that decision too.
And after she told them she had turned everything over, two more times we found out she still hadn't.
More intent.
And what's unbelievable is her supporters don't think she did anything wrong.

What I can't understand is
What I can't understand is why she agreed to let Bill come onto her plane in Phoenix. She knew it was wrong. She knew that even if they only discussed other things, it would taint the investigations into Hillary and her affairs. Yet she did it anyway.

Yep.

Bill went on that plane
and told Lynch " I hope you can let this email thing go".
