Bret is primarily covering the breakdown of civil society and he's doing so from his experience and perspective from Evergreen College from a few years ago.
He sees the current protest environment, critical race thoery, and cancel culture as an extension of what happened at Evergreen. He is concerned that the current social justice zeitgeist has been hijacked and is being used as weapon against civil society and that our civil institutions have been compromised and we are in danger of experiencing a horizontal revolution - which is something of a turnkey revolution - from factions that care not for racial or social justice.
He and his guests believe that critical race theory and some of the more fundamentalist social justice ethos has become, or always was, a secular religion.
I find his opinions and vision on the critical race movement, the 2020 cancel culture zeitgeist, and civic situation as well as his fear of where we are going to be quite compelling. I see many of the same issues that he does.
He and his wife are smart and thoughtful and their guests and conversation are too.
