Album of the Week - 4-22-23

Afternoon folks!

We've got piano great Otis Spann this week and a compilation of earlyish Detroit Blues featuring John Lee Hooker, Eddie Kirkland, Eddie Burns and Sylvester Cotton. Following that, on the harmonica we've got a great album by James Harman. Then there's a boatload of blues rock with Foghat, The J. Geils Band and Chris Youlden (formerly of Savoy Brown). After that there's one of my favorite Van Morrison albums, one by piano pounder Marcia Ball and we finish up with a later album by Steeleye Span.

Enjoy!

Here 'tis:

Otis Spann - Cryin' Time

Detroit Blues

James Harman Band - Extra Napkins

Foghat - Fool For The City

The J. Geils Band - Hotline

Chris Youlden - Nowhere Road

Van Morrison - Hard Nose The Highway

Marcia Ball - Gatorhythms

Steeleye Span - Sails Of Silver

Otis and Van, a harmonious combination for me.

Several months ago I was given 15 Van Morrison CDs. Hard Nose the Highway was not one of them. Although some of the songs are familiar from other albums, some were new.

Thank you for the weekend musical pleasure.

@janis b songs, period. There's a dreamy sort of positive hopefulness in the lyrics. You don't hear much of that sentiment anymore which is a shame. Always a pleasure, joe s. Along with the weekly photo diary. Smile
