This could be due to malfunctions in computer equipment that in 43 states is over a decade old, and long past its natural life. However, in many cases, the evidence strongly suggests that fraud is the likely explanation. These problems have been occurring since at least 2004, and are certainly present in the current 2016 presidential primaries.

4-6-2016 - ThinkProgress - Ohio Election Chief Sued Over Voter Purges - Ohioans who do not vote in three consecutive federal elections automatically have their registrations cancelled. In 2015, that meant that roughly 40,000 people living in Ohio’s largest county — largely low-income and minority voters — were disenfranchised. Over the last five years, roughly two million people have been removed from the rolls.
Demos and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Ohio filed a lawsuiton Wednesday against Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, alleging that the massive purge of Ohio’s voter rolls is illegal and violates the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), know as the “motor voter law.” Under that law, states can only remove voters from the rolls if they request the removal, die, or move out of state, and the list maintenance program must be nondiscriminatory.

Apparently, the most important thing about the primaries

is not whether they were honest, but whether Russia hacked the DNC. The issue is not whether the DNC violated its own charter or whether the state parties engaged in shenanigans, but Russian interference in US elections.

We have a corrupt system, enabled, aided and abetted by a corrupt media and I don't have a clue whether we can do a thing about it.

Unplug The Vote

I've been pondering the wording for a (state) constitutional amendment:

All voting shall be on paper. The final ballot shall be in the physical possession of the voter for personal inspection prior to submitting the ballot. All official counting shall be by hand.

In that second sentence, the word "final" is important. In addition to using pre-printed ballots with the circles you fill in, I see no reason why machines can't be used which allow you to make your selections, then PRINT OUT the ballot. The voter can review the resulting ballot and, if it's in error, turn it in for immediate destruction, and vote again. A machine to review the ballot and verify that it's error-free would also be allowed - but the voter wouldn't be required to use it. Such machines would be particularly useful in a ranked-choice-voting election.

A computer can be programmed

to print out the ballot you specified yet flip the vote internally.

There are no trustworthy machines for voting.

Apparently I was unclear.

The approach I described is no more than a glorified printer. There is no internal counting or storage of the vote, it's solely a device for producing a paper ballot. You're certainly right; there are no trustworthy machines for voting. What I have in mind is a convenience, and would be especially useful for RCV, but IT doesn't count any votes.

Now sure how quickly things will happen or what will happen

One of the law suits is by a Columbus attorney Bob Fitrakis. It is described in this paragraph from the trustvote.org web site

I went to their monthly salon at Bob's house and talked with him. Bob has written or co written 6 books on elections and he says it is clear that the election was stolen. With limited funds he is running the suit below against a law firm with tons of money.

In this update here, we will talk about the Ohio Election Integrity lawsuit. During the primary, it appears to be the case that Edison Research edited exit poll results, taking votes from Bernie Sanders and giving them to Hilary Clinton, so that the election results would match the electronic vote totals. Currently Bob Fitrakis has sued Edison Media Research to release unadjusted exit polls for 12 states in the primary. Edison Media Research has told Bob Fitrakis now to communicate with their lawyers. This response is basically a carefully worded refusal. Their law firm is BakerHostetler, a global law firm that reported earnings of over 600 million dollars in 2015. It will be very difficult for Bob Fitrakis to get the unadjusted exit poll results from Edison Media Research for the primary. The Media consortium and the DNC clearly favored Hillary Clinton getting the DNC nomination throughout the time that Bernie was campaigning. When looking at the nature of the law firm used by Edison Media Research, we can see clearly how much power lies in our country in the hands of extremely large corporations and the legal firms associated with them.

Of course, when Bernie was running the Washington Post called people wondering about the hacking of the primary results ” conspiracy theorists”. This term, originated by Karl Rove in 2004 has been used to discredit people who have been concerned about hacking all the time. The issue is that the mainstream media is being biased in its reporting in that it did not support people concerned about the hacking of the primary, but would very much be concerned about the hacking of the November election where Hillary is concerned.

There is another attorney living here in Columbus OH, Cliff Arnebeck. His assistant was on youtube saying that the primary was stolen and they had the proof. Problem is that his law suit has not been filed yet and not sure if or when it will be filed. It takes a lot of time and money to pull these things off. I was hopeful that even before the convention that election fraud would put Bernie over the top, but that time has past.

US has the worst elections for any democracy but the establishment wants it that way to have the facade of a democracy.

And there are so many immediate issues, like the F***ing TPP that Obama and the oligarchs are going to shove down our throat .....

I am sending this article by CA Democrat to Bob Fitrakis and asking him if any corrections or updates are needed.

I get to see and talk with Bob almost every month.

He has said these things over the years and I trust him and the work he has done.

This is such a significant issue, and politicians are doing everything they can to run away from it, and the media does not want to consider it, so ......

Little or nothing gets done

There are a rash of cases happening right now, but don't see the decision to fix the election system by the establishment

History professor Gary Leupp writes, mid-way through his article:

Let the American people see how thoroughly rotten both candidates are, and how thoroughly rotten the system that barfed them up.

Bernie in a fair process would be the Democratic nominee now. Clinton didn’t so much steal the election as buy it in advance, arranging the details through lackey Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Trump would not be the Republican nominee but for the editorial decisions of cable news producers to—from the very inception of his campaign—announce BREAKING NEWS and cover his nearly identical rants every time he held a rally.

This gratuitous coverage obviated the need for any (other) Trump advertising. Even as the anchors, commentators and other talking heads ridiculed, denounced and appeared puzzled about the Trump phenomenon, the networks made the viewers imbibe his vapid rants. They hooked the most reactionary elements of the population on this blowhard billionaire nut case.

In the Democrats’ case, Wall Street and Wasserman Schultz controlled the primaries. In the Republican case, the corporate news media (for its immediate profit motives) advertised a total dick who happened to be a billionaire and represent the One Percent every bit as much as Hillary.

He later asks this question:

Julian Assange described the U.S. presidential race as a choice between cholera and gonorrhea. Why should the people of this great country of 310,000,000 people—many with great creativity, integrity and intelligence—be assigned this sick choice of Clinton or Trump by the One Percent that controls everything?
