55% of Sanders Voters Plan to Vote for Clinton

bloomberg

A June 14th Bloomberg Politics national poll of likely voters in November’s election found that barely half of those who favored Sanders — 55 percent — plan to vote for Clinton. Instead, 22 percent say they’ll vote for Trump, while 18 percent favor Libertarian Gary Johnson.

How many of the 45% are simply NeverClinton? If presented with a better option would they not take a look? Do they actually want Trump or Johnson?

bloomberg again

A new Bloomberg Politics national poll shows Clinton leading Trump 49 percent to 37 percent among likely voters in November's election, with 55 percent of those polled saying they could never vote for the real-estate developer and TV personality.

Trump will get a bounce after his convention, Clinton will get a bounce after hers (assuming she is nominated, of course). The national numbers today aren't that significant. Also, bear in mind Clinton's strength in the South, which will deliver her zero electoral votes. That means she is that much weaker in the must-win states.

there is no evidence I know of that suggests that Hillary would be less disastrous for climate than Trump.

She used the power of the State Dept to push methane-leaking water-poisoning fracking wells across the world:

http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2014/09/hillary-clinton-fracking-...

Given the methane leakage, it makes no sense to say that a strong supporter of fracking is a safer bet for the climate. Given the water pollution, it makes no sense to say that a strong supporter of fracking is a safer bet for the environment generally.

There is no evidence to support that he won't, and his party is even more gun ho about it than the Dems.

Let's face it. They both suck. They're both disasters. And everyone can pick their favorite poison, but to me, on balance, Trump is just worse.

There's no evidence for a LOT of claims that suggest Hillary would be less disastrous for a lot of things than Trump would.

LIke the rest of the GOP.

I love this planet and the varied life on it. I will try and keep Trump and the GOP from power AND fight hard to pressure the Democrats.

Do realize that Clinton would likely inherit 8 years in power, where Trump would most certainly be primaried at the end of his first term.

I agree that Clinton is a grave danger regarding climate change. 8 years of complacency, and free reign to the FF Industry, unfettered fracking, the KXL pipeline, further tar sands development, more offshore drilling, and drilling in the Arctic would be a disaster of incomparable proportions for our country, and the entire world.

Donald may be in this for his own empowerment, and ego, where Hillary is in it to enable, impress, and enrich a broad swath of extremely powerful and influential parties globally, as well as herself.

I see that as a far more dangerous scenario... consider the power, and recklessness of people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the likes of the Wall street tycoons who collapsed our economy, and the multinational military manufacturers, salesman/distributers/ voyeurs who have us engaged in perpetual war, being given encouragement and greater opportunity to wreak havoc on a global scale

which I don't discount, a vote for a 3rd party is a wasted vote, and it's essentially a vote for Trump if you live in a swing state. I don't see the Green Party winning the Presidency. Or winning anything. I like their platform.

Your conscience, your choice.

I choose to look at the big picture. You probably think you are also.

The Green vote in this election will be a reading of strength, and the greater the vote total, the greater influence the Green Party will have going forward.

A duopoly of Parties, whose candidates and policies are both unpopular, is vulnerable to the growth of a 3rd Party. Consider how many here agonize over which of the two major Party candidates (both of which they abhor) will get their vote in the General Election. Voting for the Green Party is a principled (and quantifiable) way to express rejection of both major Party candidates.

It's nice that they provided such a wide array of options: A neoliberal right-winger, a neo-fascist right-winger, and a libertarian right-winger. Bloomberg once again demonstrating its scrupulous objectivity.

If 55% of Sanders supporters actually *turn out* to vote for Clinton, rather than simply "planning to" vote for Clinton, I'll buy each caucus99er a drink.

The reason GOTV is a thing is that you need more than "I like this candidate more than that one" or "I dislike that candidate more than this one" to get people to the polls. The less enthusiastic people are, the less they show up.

This year, a lot of people are exceedingly unenthusiastic. That's putting it mildly.

If I were willing to vote for Clinton (I'm not) and something came up - ANYTHING - I wouldn't make a special effort to get to the polls to do it.

I think turnout will be incredibly depressed given that both major party candidates are extremely unpopular.

The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.

I love that they think they have a Magic Number of any sort. To begin with, you have to wonder how they suddenly know who "Sanders voters" really are.

Her polls appear to have almost doubled out to 7% from a month ago.

Not one for Stein, eh?

Libertarians might be on the ballot in all 50 states, that figures, the establishment only wants rightwing candidates to even have a ghost of a chance to pull in the voters.

Scare tactics are going to work with a lot of people, but not with me.

ignoring Jill Stein?

I wonder how many people are truly scared, though? I'm gonna try and find out between now and November. My hope is that when people see that it's possible to not be scared, that they might think twice before pulling the lever for her.

Either that or I'm gonna find out a lot of people are just baggin' the election altogether, after all the obvious cheating. Why wouldn't they figure "Why bother? It's obviously rigged..." IT IS!

then you have to destroy one of the parties first.
You cannot destroy the Republicans. There will always be violent racists. There will always be intolerant religious fanatics. Destroy the R party and a worse party will form out of its ashes. And the Ds will consider the "death" of the Rs as carte blanche to go full bore corrupt.
Therefore we must destroy the Ds.
Besides, like it or not, better option or not, Hillary is going to destroy the Ds anyway; we might as well plan for it.

On to Biden since 1973

about 110 million people voted in 2012
30% of them were Democrats. That's 33 million people.
40% were independents. That's 44 million.
Roughy 45% of Democrats were Sanders supporters. That's 14.85 million.
Roughly 70% of independents were "left leaning".That's 30.8 million.
Bernie's support among left leaning independents was roughly 70%. That's 21.56million
.Bernie's support was therefore 36.41 million.
Obama got 66 million votes.
45% of 36.41 million is roughly 16.4 million.
If 16.4 million Bernie supporters refuse to vote for Hillary the most she can get is 49.6 million votes.
Mitt Romney got 61 million votes.
