Scott Adams on the un-debate

Ever since I watched Scott Adams on Bill Maher the other day I've been paying more attention to what Scott has to say. His latest blog post is fascinating:

By agreeing to debate Sanders, Trump minimizes Clinton and embarrasses her. It will look to the public as if she’s hiding, afraid to debate.

By tying a Sanders debate to charity, Trump signals that Sanders isn’t a “real” opponent. So Sanders gets minimized at the same time. And it puts Sanders in follower mode. Trump suggested, Sanders followed.

The charity angle will probably make the debate impractical. The networks don’t want to run a freebie. So there is a high chance it won’t happen. But Trump gets credit – and attention – for offering.

We all understand that the Unindexed Fund is a huckster, but I am only just beginning to appreciate what a mind-bendingly good one he is. Hillary will get chewed up and spat out, but I'm starting to worry that even Bernie would have his hands full.

Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

is to get the nom for the Queen of Chaos by hook or crook, and then have Obama save her in the general.

the debate makes himself look weak. Posted here at c99% earlier was Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions offering $20 million if the debate were to happen.

But I'm not sure how many others do.

It's kind of like when the schoolyard bully pretends to be your friend for a minute and then gets everyone laughing at you. The bully doesn't look weak here, only the victim does.

Bernie is so earnest that he can fall for this crap.

I always had a sense that he was a master of rhetoric, but Adams really explains it from a technical point of view.

On the plus side, any mention by the MSM is good. But it also looks like he's riding the Orange Haired One's popularity, which again looks weak.

Each candidate only appears weak if one is inclined to believe they are.

Knowing his past actions and seeing the way he runs his campaign now makes me believe his judgment is sound. I can't say the same for the others.

I guess I don't like the feel of his blog, and thus I avoid reading it and just look at the daily Dilbert. I got the impression from the tone of his stuff, and something he linked, that he's a conservative, and in the case of an artist whose work I enjoy, I'd rather not know that.

He gave very good explanations of what Ivanka's Boyfriend was up to, though, so I believe him because of his arguments, not his status or politics.
