"So I sez to her, I sez, Mabel!" (V)

There's a real homogeneous feel to the negative campaigning these days, in the wake of Hillary's new email troubles (self-made, as though that even needs saying).

We've got pundits basically pissing in their pants at the thought of democracy in action, throwing up every boogeyman they can find to keep us from practicing democracy - from "Trump will win!" to "Racist! Sexist! Racexist! Privileged!"

There's even one lefty blogger who has been brought down by a brigade of powerful centrist feminists (and yes, I approve of powerful centrists being female even as I completely oppose them).

I believe it was Joan Walsh who got my attention to that meme, that somehow Bernie represents all privileged white men who she will not bow down to so stop supporting him and get with Hillary.

Or something like that. There's also stories talking about civility generally and really it's a big mish-mosh because everyone is trying to attack each other and Trump at the same time.

So you have these different pundit cow-herders who herd the other pundit cows into basically going with what they say and amplifying it using the power of the media.

Except now with the Hillary email debacle, the mainstream media, who still amplifies the anti-Bernie nonsense, have dropped the mask of support for Hillary enough for we Berniecrats to see.

Which is even more bizarre.

Andrea Mitchell even put on a Serious Face when talking about Hillary being caught red-handed lying.

The New York Times had an editorial about it, a STERNLY WORDED editorial saying how bad this behavior by Hillary was, but also pointed out that Trump is so horrible that this doesn't disqualify Hillary from being president.

So we got that going on.

And of course #ChickenTrump declines to debate with Bernie. #ChickenHillary does the same.

And Bernie is packing them in at his rallys just the same.

I heard that Cornel West called Netanyahu a war criminal! Oh I laughed. And I am a Zionist, though not a Bibi Zionist and not a supporter of settlements and the horrible treatment of Palestinians. But that's another story. This essay is pure political gossip.

I believe I saw a Tweet that the Dem platform debate is going to be televised or somehow reported on - that would just be fabulous - a real debate for a change.

Anyway, the homogeneous nature of the Establishment Dems treatment of we barbarian leftys has become painfully apparent given the speed of the internet and the rote phrases we're reading from many different pundits at once using both the blogosphere and the mainstream media.

Think about this for a moment. David Brock is openly coordinating with Hillary's campaign. And think of all the negative memes we're reading by bloggers from Brock's BNR to Kos to HuffPo, even to the Nation via Joan Walsh.

David Brock is openly coordinating with Hillary's campaign. So his behavior has her stamp of approval by the very nature of their business/political relationship.

Not very pretty!

... are not only thinking inside the box, they're building another box within that box. It's ridiculous.

I've also read some of my own allies waffling here and there on the civility thing, the Nevada thing, trying to advise Bernie via Twitter or whatever based on fear of these negative attacks rather than continuing this fight.

You can't think within the box and still be part of this Political Revolution. You have to take risks and even in many ways take a leap of faith in order to get out of that damned box.

Well Mabel, YOU know what I'm sayin'.

Some clueless git on PBS Newshour stated that 'losing California will be the excuse Sanders needs to finally quit'.

These a-holes literally cannot grasp the simple statement that 'he's going all the way to the convention'.

Facts and reality seemingly cannot penetrate the $$Hillary-funded bubble of bullshit.

calls for Hillary to drop out. She is in grave danger of losing the general. She and Trump(!?) are polling about even. The Rs have not even started in her corruption, like letting the Russians take over Uranium One, nor will they until safely after she has been nominated.

I can understand some people being seduced by practicality. What they should also understand is advances weren't made by being practical or accepting social norms could not change. The reality is we're dealing with questions of who we are, what ideas will dominate, not just who wins the next election.

We must always fight for every inch and every scrap, when our cause is righteous, because those who oppose have every advantage. There is no win condition. This battle will be for eternity because that is human nature.

Righteous cause? Well, that is a tricky one.

I get downright scared sometimes by the vitriol. It makes me realize the enormity of power we have come up against and it's quite real.

The "righteous cause" is democracy, imo. Just to stand for what we believe in through all the uproar and opposition. It does require taking a risk, there's no way around that.

I have preconceptions which I haven't been able to let go of. I believe we are our brothers and sisters keepers. Hah, good intentions and Hell. I believe in being a keeper in the sense of providing a rich environment for development, not just meeting needs for survival. Life is meant to expand. This is an idea fraught with problems and opportunities for exploitation too.

What do you believe?

I can get on board with all you've said in your comment.

As far as practicing democracy, I believe that it's something you have to do, action-wise, without a safety net or any kind of guarantee.

I'm a Buddhist practitioner. I believe there is no separation between sentient beings and the universe. I believe the root of all suffering is not experiencing and knowing this and instead believing in what doesn't exist - a separate "I", an eternal "self," all that.

Surroundings? Suffering is proportional to a disconnect from reality.

This makes sense. We are the prodigy of stars, yet we wonder if our breath stinks. Heh, sometimes we notice!

Thanks for answering.

Trump’s San Diego rally tonight turned into a near riot despite a heavy police presence. Is this how the campaign is going to be from now on? Mobs in the streets? Americans are full of fear and anxiety, worried about the downward economic slide of the middle class. Hillary has nothing to offer us.

They sell us the President the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance....

The attacks on Bruenig by that snakepit of vile disgusting excuses for the female gender makes me feel dirty and guilty for being female. Fuck them! Do you know they celebrated publicly the fact that they got him fired? And not only that, they tried to get his pregnant wife fired too? That's what "centrist" feminists do and if I could I'd impoverish every single one of those harpies.

You'd think I would stop it. Soon. And David Brock should not be anywhere near any Democratic campaign. He's written some ugly stuff through the years.

Orwell was an optimist

Damnit Janet's picture

Yesterday on my way to work at 9 am I had a beige colored mini van come up super close behind my sportage. I have the local hockey team placard around my license and I have the Oregon style Bernie Sanders 2016 bumpersticker. My only sticker.

So this woman is behind me and then we turn onto 10 and she is able to take a lane beside me where she rolls down her window and is waving wildly. So I am kinda shocked at this middle aged woman shrieking and waving her arms with several kids in the van looking on. So I thinks.. "hey, something must be wrong with my car!?!" So I rolled down the passenger window of my car so as to hear her in case anything she is saying is important.

"You and Bernie can go fuck yourselves, you fucking bitch!"

She then blasted through the intersection and I saw her "I"m Ready for Hillary" sticker.

I'm used to some road rage having had an earlier car with several stickers that I wanted to piss off Bush Supporters and even had a guy with a gun rack try to run me crazy on the road. But this lady was fuming. Just absolutely cuhrazy.

Rabid.

essay on Friday. I woke up this morning and was thinking about civility. What is being civil? I've never got the hang of civility in the sense of wrapping horrible inhumanity and evil in politesse. Euphemisms that sugar coat brutal crimes against humanity and debates that center on the appearance of 'impropriety' rather then dealing with what's being hidden.

I'm no longer a partisan it's a divide and conquer con. What's civil about 'torturing some folks' and calling it patriotic? What's civil about austerity, endless war, religious dogma or pillaging the earth itself for profit and power? Anyway I liked this essay and could not agree more with this.

"You can't think within the box and still be part of this Political Revolution. You have to take risks and even in many ways take a leap of faith in order to get out of that damned box."

I care about The Mad bomber emails not because of 'national security' or protecting our spooks abroad but because I want to know what these power tripping neocon/ neoliberal's are up to. They It's maddening to listen to debates that have no connection to anything other then the rigged horse race. On the other hand like NK said we are certainly getting a good look at the naked power that we're dealing with. We can all see the nature of their game.

The fact that they have once again resorted to extorting your vote with fear of the other instead of offering a pocket full of hope, tips their hand. Sexist? Racist? Shame on these privileged people who are using the 'disenfranchisement' of demographic segments of our society to stir up fear and loathing when their agenda is nothing but death and harm to humans and the planet.

Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint

So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah
