was so sad to me. My dear grandmother, the love of my life, was fading fast. Ultimately, after years of combating Parkinson's, pancreatic cancer took her cruelly and quickly. There was a moment that last summer when her treating doctor was African American. I don't quite remember where she was or what we knew at that time, but there was a big shift in how she was faring and her will to stay around. And there was this nice doctor NOT saying things were going to be ok. And it seemed to bring to the surface whatever very old issues my grandfather must have had growing up as a privileged white kid in rural Kentucky. He did not like this doctor touching my grandmother to examine her and he got ugly about it. I think he was mostly ugly to me and not to the doctor, but I felt stung. My recollection was that the comments were in the car and at their home and not in the medical office. And I could see how many emotions were crossing paths and urged him to to spew such vile sentiments. I hated seeing this in action, knowing this about him, and coming from such stock. And I felt compassion for a young man suddenly finding himself old, coming to terms with losing the love of his life, the mother of his children. He was often not as good to her as she needed, but he did love her very much.

Think of all the cringe-worthy admissions that have shown her true character, which by the way the American people have and continue to reject wholesale as evidenced in her trustworthy likeable numbers. Her whole message has pretty much been, "betcha don't want them, now do ya?"

She's exhibited quite clearly that she's stuck in the mindset of an arrogant, privileged teenage brat. She doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the Presidency. Yet, a whole fucking disgraceful apparatus is working overtime to prop her up, because they're continuing fortunes are hinged to her.

It's a bizarre, twisted dystopia looking at this scene right now. It's hard to believe we're actually at the doorstep of Idiocracy. Bernie is the marathon runner of sanity, compassion, intelligence and humanity, racing to save us from turning the door knob, from which we'll proceed feet first in a free fall to oblivion.

We have to show up in droves in Philly to support him, continue writing, publishing, showing up and appealing to saner voices in the media to emphasize and explain the severity of the moment.
