Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish
Today I posted my GBCW diary over at the Rusty Orange Shitcan. It reads like this:
Blah Blah Blah Republican Talking Points. Support Hillary Because Trump. I'm Outta Here.
I won’t be posting anything here anymore. After being suspended for 30 days I decided that seeing virtually everyone here and our blatantly incompetent media Hillarysplain and Drumpfsplain is no longer worth the stress. So from now on I’ll be posting (Caucus link)here, because lets face it, the Gentricratic (Democratic) party can’t make money advocating for the little guys, be they people with disabilities, people of color, women (Unless your name is Hillary Clinton or Debbie Wasserman Schultz), etc.

You have nowhere else to go!” It’s been incredibly difficult to tell in recent years with NAFTA, the gutting of Glass Steagall, taking single-payer and impeachment off the table in 2007, making the Bush Tax Cuts permanent, nominating a tobacco and anti-EPA lobbyist for the supreme court. The list goes on.
So, since I won’t be supporting this site, or Hillary Clinton, please take me off your damn mailing list and delete my account. I refuse to be part of a community that wants no part of me.
The comments over there range from laughable to downright hateful, as expected. Some think I'm doing this for attention, others think it's a childish tantrum etc. But it just goes to show how far the community has really sunk there. Well, as I said in my open thread, if they want an echo chamber, they're going to get it.

long before then. The writing was on the wall from soon after the 2008 election. The site went from healthy to any critique of Obama was inherently racist. I got the impression that Kos himself was agnostic at the time but he eventually came down hard on the pro Obama at all times side.

Any criticism of Obama was met with derision because we didn't get a pony after they passed the ACA without the democrats even trying to get single payer passed or a public option. Even when we found out that my Obama had met with the insurance and pharmaceutical executives during the negotiations.
The Dems gave writing the bill to Baucus knowing that Liz fowler from WellPoint was helping him write it.
And they let the GOP water down the bill under the guise of trying to get them to vote for it, but knowing that they weren't going to. And instead of putting the good parts back in, they left them out. Kabuki crap.
And for how many years did we hear that Obama was playing chess and had the GOP right where he wanted them?
I saw that nothing was going to change after he voted for the FISA bill that he promised to filibuster and then we were told that he had to vote for it, but once he was elected then he'd change it. Instead it got put on steroids and given to over 800 contractors and and is costing money that could be spent on programs that would help us.
And his foreclosure program was set up to fail and when the banks were caught foreclosing on people's houses illegally did he crack down on them? Hell no, he protected them by appointing holder as the head of the DOJ. And where did he come from? A law firm that defended the banks

GBCW'd this evening over at GOS. The comments were heartbreaking. That place has become evil. The man has written/published work in professional (Psychology) publications on torture, written extensively about human rights violations and torture at GOS, and is basically being ass kicked out the door. I hope he starts writing here (I know he's joined).

I haven't been to the DK in a very long time except to use the search feature once, but you know there are some incredibly smart, interesting, and intelligent human beings there, and Valtin is certainly one of them. I am not going over there to see such abuse nor do I know the cause of it (I caught your comment on the side bar here).
Pod people is right. And someone said to me the other day -- a troll on Kossacks_for_Sanders -- the *I* had been "co-opted" and all sorts of crazy shit. I was like, "You don't know me one bit." I'm the same as I ever was. It's peoples' eyes that have shifted. I am literally no different than I was politically years ago. Anyone who is close to me would see this at once. I was always open about being a radical, a Leftist, more left than most of the party, a Socialist/Marxist, a fan of direct action, and a protester in real life. A general hell raiser. I'm just not a progressive, so I don't always see eye-to-eye with them (and some Greens, but I also am strongly anti-nukes). But apparently under Clinton, people are prey to their own false consciousness, except when they are not. It's nice to see the scales fall from peoples' eyes.
I feel that more and more people are waking up. I feel that our divisions are coming out but becoming strengths. Many of the most intelligent people I know are the least willing now to compromise.

Yes, it seems more and more people are waking up. Everywhere I read expressions of gratitude to Sanders for showing people the system we have: Sen. Sanders, the Eye-Opener.
One result is a new, abrupt, escalating, and possibly irrevocable alienation from the Democratic Party. Necessary, imo. People who now see reality are furious about the blatant fraud and disenfranchisement on display this election. When Van Jones says he wishes Reince Priebus were head of the DNC, things are really bad. But that's really encouraging for the prospects of a lasting movement for change.

My impression is that most people posting GBCW diaries over
there know what to expect and are unfazed by the verbal abuse. They're leaving, after all. A lot of times they probably don't even read it. If they do, it just affirms their good sense in getting out.

I have read several GBCW diaries over there lately. It seems we aren't the only one being driven away.

Writing is difficult.
Nothing worth writing is easily written not easily read. At TOP all comments derive from a level of sophomoric engagement I rejected back in my junior high school days, hence my sig. I always encouraged my students to challenge anything I taught/said/implied because critical thinking skills are indispensable if we are to survive the coming challenges. Why is it so very difficult to understand that simple observation.

I teach English, and a few other things when that grows scarce, including Critical Thinking, Logic, and a few other fun things. And I couldn't agree more with you. A lot of people don't quite realize or understand what Critical Thinking is. My spouse was always deeply opposed to my posting on, or being in any way involved with, TOP because he felt it was degrading to the intellect. In the end, I could not stand to be in what felt like the worst, weirdest cocktail party ever, like there were two strata of people, some very bright, and some either very dense or else quite evil (in a banal sort of a way).

I started kindergarten in the fall of 1954. I retired and separated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in the fall of 2014. I like to say: I was institutionalized for 60 years. I was allowed to keep my university office up until two months ago: They need the office for a new hire as the program expands to include some engineering.
I got hooked on particle physics in the second grade because a speaker showed us a geiger counter and talked of invisible radiation. I went autodidactic that same year and never stopped. My perception of reality is skewed by my experiences to the point that anything I have to say comes off as evangelizing. Grad School was awesome and I have lots of stories.
Most of my students that pursue advanced degree options in physics do so because they are as driven, as I. My most recent "particle physics" student said I inspired him: He is now in a graduate physics program in Texas. I do not take credit, he is a brilliant young man and will do well.
I come from an economically impoverished background, so for me, getting paid to do what I would do for free was a no brainer. In fact, I plan to teach in Medford, OR for free for the rest of my life.
So, Yes, I would recommend majoring in physics. But do be aware from whence that recommendation comes.

About ten minutes ago I found out the whole thing was a hoax perpetuated from a phoney abc7 page on trolled out all over FB and Twitter.

I had seen those numbers and thought they were probably skewed but it never occurred to me that they were just made up numbers.

And if desired, even add comments to past diaries, just to give a shill a backstory? Just a thought that flitted through my brain. Frankly, I don't think we're cynical enough yet.
