Why is Clinton campaigning so hard in Kentucky?
I am a political junkie and watch everything that is going on regarding the overall campaigns- am I an expert no, but work to educate myself on the current events. Therefore, I have a question for you all, why is Hillary campaigning so hard in Kentucky? Last week she dropped $180,000 (I think this number is correct) on ads, all her advocates, Bill and her have been campaigning exclusively in Kentucky during the last several days- why?
Is she trying to win this state? Is she trying to at least keep it close? Is she looking for a blow out? If she scores a victory is she showing everyone that she is electable and to ignore Bernie? I am not sure of the answer that is why I am asking you for your opinions, thoughts or other tips bids or theories as well as any rumors.
Thank you for any and all feedback regarding this inquiry- inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe she can't cheat as easily there. We always see her lose in states where its a fair fight.

Agree with NHK--KY is cheaper (to run ads in); but,
also, I tend to think that it may be easier to rig an election there, because of 'the Grifters' ties to the Dem Party Machine.
I'm thinking that the Lundergan [Grimes] family in KY are relatively powerful Dem Party apparatchiks--and Friends of Bill & Hill.
I'm guessing FSC's campaign is very concerned about Bernie's momentum, if he should take both primary races, tomorrow.
Good news--heard Jeff Zeleny (formerly of the NYT, now with CNN) say on XM earlier today, that on the ground in California, it's hard not to believe that Bernie is likely to win.
(Sorta anecdotal on his part, he's judging by the level of enthusiasm, and overt signs of support, like signs, bumper stickers, etc.)

I lived there for 15 years
in my formative state but in a blue city, not one of the rubes. Maybe she is wooing the 8000 (off my ass) coal miners who she dissed a few weeks ago. The entire electorate of KY. Maybe she sent Bill off to do little harm.

The real concern is Trump
The Clinton cabal knows they can rely on the media to bury the losses by moving on quickly to some other issue. But Trump will pound on it and then the media will feel compelled to address it.
I'll take a stab at it since I live here
Bill carried this state twice in the general election, and Hillary beat the crap out of Obama here in 2008. It looks bad for her to lose here. To my knowledge there have been no polls, but maybe her campaign has one. If so, I LOVE what it must be showing! I can tell you this- win or lose, Bernie has MORE Kentucky donations -- in dollar amount and total number of donations -- than all other candidates running in this race combined. He's been popping up in small towns all over lately. There's been lots of excitement. Except for my son (I blame myself!!!) and my best friend (a Republican who registered Dem to give Hillary a boost. UGH!) everyone I know is voting for Bernie.

Her anti-coal remarks that lost WV could also have put a YUUGE dent in her support in KY. Combine that with Bern's positive message that he has been taking to coal towns, and the two L cities are blue oases in the desert of red and likely to go for Bern, and she is probably seeing a possible loss in a state that usually loves Clintons and cannot stand the idea of losing here, of all places. Plus doing so would be another anti-"She has the South" data point (although the rest of the South doesn't see us as all that Southern).
Anyway, I've been phone banking all season and canvassing here this month, so if I have any say in it, we will go for Bern. Also Bern came here and spoke to about 6000, Hill came here and spoke to about 6. I think she's in trouble here, and yes, it will look very bad if she loses. I hope to help that happen for her.

I know, our cities did not do us proud this time; the rural
areas did! Happily, Rep. Andy Barr is being challenged by Nancy Jo Kemper and Rand Paul will face Mayor Jim Gray. I think we may be able to oust those two Republicans!
Of course I wish the Dem candidates had been more progressive. But these two are not bad, and pretty popular.

I voted for Sellus Wilder. He'd endorsed Bernie.
The only thing I know about Jim Gray is he's rich and very proud of it and can't seem to get rid of the hole in the middle of Lexington. He wouldn't publish any positions on anything, and like Trump, confuses running government with running a business. I'll vote for him over Rand Paul, obviously, but I watched the Dem primary debate and, frankly, Gray would have been my last choice.

I voted for Sellus Wilder too, even though I know Jim and
think he is a nice guy! He would have been my second choice, but of course when you know someone you don't put as much stock in debate performance. I was just looking at the numbers - US unemployment right now is 5.6%, KY is 5.0%, Louisville is 4.5%, and Lex is 3.6%. Lex passed a minimum wage raise that will begin July 1 2016 at $8.20, 2017 $9.15, 2018 $10.10. So he has some actual numbers that he can point to as Getting Things Done. Check out his Web site, he has taken some stands; another is raising the SS cap, another is campaign finance reform. As for the Big Dig, well, the real estate people claimed they had funding all worked out but they didn't. I'm sure someone will do something with it eventually, even if Gray Construction has to take it over themselves. I imagine he would rather someone else handle it, though, so it doesn't look like conflict of interest. I also noted in the past that Gray Construction got into trouble at one point, and Jim's mother sold her jewelry and investments to give the company enough money that they did not have to declare bankruptcy and all their lenders/investors were paid in full. Ya gotta admit, that's different from Trump!! The other problem with the rest of the people in the race, of course, was lack of name recognition and lack of funding. Sellus Wilder came in second, and I think even he would have had trouble raising enough money to effectively take on Rand Paul. Jim will have no such problem. Now we just have to make sure his ads say all the right things!

That's how the "Democratic" Party makes all its choices. By the way, Louisville passed a minimum wage increase too.

My mother at 96 is out of it, and sister is in the bag for Hillary as of a few weeks ago. I spoke to her last night and totally forgot that election day is nigh. Maybe she will forget to vote.

shows Bernie doing well in California. CA has so many delegates, a blowout could just knock her out of the race. Hence fighting in KY and perhaps putting pressure on the folks in NV, etc.

Although there isn't much polling for either state, she won Puerto Rico in 2008, has support from local officials. New Mexico is a closed primary, she edged Obama out in the state in 2008.

There are a couple of reasons:
1. Kentucky is a coal state--if they vote for her, she can tell WV "see they believe me." Then she thinks WV might vote for her in the GE is they believe her.
2. Kentucky is a red state and she is going after Republicans.
3. She couldn't find anyone to buy there.
4. It won't look good if she loses all of the remaining states.
5. There is a donor there that she would like to tap later, so has to make a good appearance.

It's a way of trying to control the media narrative . . .
Sanders runs off four primary wins in May before the final battery of primaries in June. Then for the next three weeks going into the last battery of primaries we could have a situation where Clinton is forced to defend California.
It doesn't change the fundamentals, but it doesn't look great when the presumptive nominee has "won" the race, and then loses most of the contests in the final month of the race.
The Clinton people want to at least get a split decision, because it might save them money having to compete in California and it gives them a little more control over the media narrative.
An alternative explanation is that they might see a chance to win both states, and then have the remaining superdelegates swoop in and give Clinton what she needs to declare herself the winner before June.

It just does not make sense. She is spending resources and energy in a state that will be red in the fall. If she is the nominee why spend some much time and effort on this state?
