History Is A Weapon

This is a terrific site I stumbled onto a while back:

http://www.historyisaweapon.com/indextrue.html#

By way of introduction I selected a book titled "Propaganda" by Edward Bernays published in 1928. The table of contents:

Contents
I. ORGANIZING CHAOS
II. THE NEW PROPAGANDA
III. THE NEW PROPAGANDISTS
IV. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF PUBLIC RELATIONS
V. BUSINESS AND THE PUBLIC
VI. PROPAGANDA AND POLITICAL LEADERSHIP
VII. WOMEN'S ACTIVITIES AND PROPAGANDA
VIII. PROPAGANDA FOR EDUCATION
IX. PROPAGANDA IN SOCIAL SERVICE
X. ART AND SCIENCE
XI. THE MECHANICS OF PROPAGANDA

I was astounded by how sophisticated the understanding of propaganda was in 1928. At that time the application of propaganda to the political sphere was unknown. Propaganda was considered a marketing tool. That was roughly 90 years ago and the utilization of propaganda in politics is universal.

We've come a long way baby! Here's the link to "Propaganda":

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

And my favorite historian. I reread it often, and always learn something new. I wish Zinn were still alive so he could continue to document what's going on now. Hopefully someone will pick up where he left off.

The guy tasked by Wilson to prepare the USA for entering WWI was none other than Edward Bernays, who prostituted his uncle Sigmund Freud's research to inflict the modern world with effective propaganda techniques, as well as the "public relations" industry - and ADVERTISING.

I hope this bastard is rotting in hell.

Century of the Self is a BBC documentary that details much of the propaganda industry.

Edward Bernays was not a mere chronicler of modern propaganda techniques. He was a pioneer of the industry, building its core principles off of techniques pioneered by his uncle, Sigmund Freud.

This is the top of a very deep and dark rabbit hole.
