In the eternal argument as to whether which of the three Kings are actually "The King", between BB King, Albert King and Freddie King my answer was always Albert, but today I will defer to BB. RIP BB, you were loved by many, many more than just your mother. Sad day.
i leaned towards freddie and the "fourth king" earl. but it was always a difficult choice, they were all enormously talented people and all of them gave the world an amazing gift and leave a fine legacy.
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. - Friedrich Nietzsche -
BB King was giving me chill bumps when I first heard him when I was a teenager and then when I went to the Texas International Pop Festival (it happened a few weeks after Woodstock) between Ft. Worth and Dallas at a racetrack in Lewisville. Google that event it was all star all the way (Janis Joplin, Santana,Led Zeppelin, James Cotton and so many more great acts) but unlike all the other stars BB King played all three nights and every night was great, what a voice to go with his inimitable style of playing the guitar.
I have a lot of albums (I don't remember the last count but it was in the 700 or 800 range) but two of my favorites are Live At the Regal and Live at Cook County Jail, both are absolute jewels.

Joe...
will you be doing a tribute to BB in tonight's EB? If not, I'll do one tomorrow.
i'll post a couple of things...
but i really don't have the time today to put together the sort of tribute that BB deserves, so if you would do that tomorrow, that'd be great.
ok, back to work.
