Friday Night Photos Body's In Motion Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Well, we made it through another week of endless wars, rising inflation, a collapsing economy, and a country on the brink of financial disaster. Not to mention an environment that's slowly burning up the planet. As bad as it is, it's not all doom and gloom 24/7. Tell us what you did this week to put a smile on your face and forget about the doom and gloom. My go to is to get out with the camera and take photos. What's yours?

While I did get out with the camera this week, these photos are from an evening visit to the San Diego Velodrome a few weeks ago.

The story of my life. The wheels are spinning but I ain't getting anywhere.

We had a little storm here this week

Power was out here from 9:30 pm on Monday night until 11:30 am on Thursday. I never opened the freezer and everything was good in there. The refrigerator needed cleaning though. No internet here yet, using my phones hotspot to post a video.

I'm sorry for the island and the loss of connection. I hope and trust there will be a fruitful regeneration of what was lost. I remember the odd silence and after effects of hurricane Iwa on Kauai. At that time it was unusual for hurricanes to touch down on small islands (landmasses) in the Pacific.

The video without images, and only the sound of strong wind was a bit eerie. I'm glad there was little loss of life.

The camera does it for me too, as you know. It’s a time when everything disappears except for what you’re focused on at the moment. Looking through the camera can be moments in time to be experienced, or memories created. I also love cooking, and FaceTiming with family and friends.

Interesting pics, Sp and jb.

jb, what exactly is that top plant in your first photo? It's fascinating! Are those caterpillar looking things, blooms? Like the bike images, Sp. Needless to say, those guys are in terrific shape. I used to ride a bike as transportation before I got my first car. Hubster is a retired biker (engine powered 2 wheelers), so I've been on both. It's been the usual double sauna here, but my area has really lucked out so far this year. No storms, floods, or drought-caused wildfires. The Tragic Kingdom attraction areas are reporting record crowds. I can cook, but I've always hated it. Hubster really likes it, so he cooks and I do cleanup. Works for me. Anywho, you guys take care and be safe. Rec'd!!

Loved cycling...

...when younger of course. I'm afraid my sense of balance is not good enough anymore. I gave my 2 bicycles away after the first flood in 2022 to one of the Mexican guys working on the home reconstruction. He loved them. One was a nice fold up model you can take anywhere in a car trunk.

I like to listen to and read the lyrics of older or more traditional Asian songs for enjoyment. I started with Korean songs many years ago. Now I'm trying to do the same with Mandarin songs. It's too absorbing to allow for contemporary noise to enter the consciousness. But to do this I have to have a good video/recording and translation and also a peaceful enough situation to allow for concentration. Been struggling with health related administruvia for at least two months now, which has interfered with this pastime.

I found a song I really like but I can't find a good video recording. The AI updated versions of some of the old pop classics like this Teresa Teng 邓丽君 hit Winter Love, are actually quite good. But I want to see/hear a real artist do it. So I didn't post. I wondered if pleasant sounding music channel weren't a Chinese government AI project. The Mandarin pronunciation in these songs is so clear! That's one benefit. They do give credit to the original artist on the cover. The translations seem pretty good, but I'm no authority. The channel is obviously targeted at English speaking audiences. The channel is 好聽音樂. Below are the song lyrics with the classical romantic theme-

Music is a great way to tune out the doom and gloom. Normally I listen to podcasts when I'm editing photos, but there are times when the D&G gets to be too much and I'll listen to music instead.

I'm stuck now with my heic files problem when I try to open Ms. So's occasional iphone photo recording something unusual. Not so much quality photography as that taken by yourself or Janis, but some event to share.
