Friday Night Photos Feathered Friends Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:00pm
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Well, it's another Friday. Surprising how fast time goes, specially when you're on the hook for a weekly essay. My hats off and mass respect to Joe Shikspack for producing the Evening Blues every Mon.-Fri. I would have gone crazy in less than two weeks if I had to post an essay with that much news and music five days a week.
It was sunny and 70s while the week went flying by. Rain in the forecast for this weekend.

Your eagle photograph
is just gorgeous! The most impressive portrait of an eagle I've ever seen.
Bravo! Wow!
Thank you so much
for the wonderful compliment, Linda.

Showing the movement of birds
must take being very still. Most of the summer fowl
are back, excepting the hummers. Should be here soon
as the quince are budding. Funny how the timing coincides

Hi, Q
We have hummers year round here. The Orioles from Mexico and Central Am. have started to show up in the last few days for their breeding season. They will be around until late July to early August and then head back south. Your lawn furniture looks a might bit uncomfortable.

Good orning SP. Great pics, thanks.
You actually have a few hooded and bullock's orioles that hang out year round; they're feeder birds who live in areas with otherwise decent habitat and where people put out nectar and fruit feeders year round.
be well and have a good one

Hi, EL
I have read that a few Orioles stay year round but even when I had feeders up year round I'd only see and hear them during breeding season. I think the key word is few.

Like the photos, Sp.
That Bald Eagle looks like a portrait. That bird really is a powerful, beautiful raptor. I’m also partial to the Ibis. The humongous beak is something else! What do they feed on? We’ve got the usual city dwellers: Doves, Cardinals, Mockingbirds, a few small Raptors, etc. At least the drought broke here this evening. Much needed rain poured down. Even if we got smacked with an atmospheric river, the ground is so dry, it would suck that water up. No telling what goodies Storm Season has planned. Yuck!

Hi, obf
The White-faced Ibis eats worms and other invertebrates found on the edges of marshes, lakes, ponds and streams. Glad to hear you got some rain. We got a little rain last night. Not much, but anything is better than nothing.
