Watching the renegade Republicans try to figure it out
So, let's take it from the top:
"The mistake Trump has made is a political mistake."
Alternately, he's a megalomaniac who thinks he can abolish "democracy" (which is to say, elections) in the US if its political results don't turn out like he wants them to turn out, which would explain the run-up to January 6th, 2021. Also, as a megalomaniac, he feels he can do anything he wants with no consequences for him.
"We're dealing with a political genius."
Alternately, he won because the Democrats conceded the election the moment that Jaime Harrison told everyone at some point in 2023 that Biden would be the party's nominee. They threw the election, and Trump was the beneficiary of that own goal.
"He beat the duopoly."
Weinstein does not appear to have read Trump's two books, which are full of standard Republican boilerplate.
"He is not in control."
This could be the case, though we don't really don't know. Trump suffers from clinical narcissism and malignant dementia. Maybe they took the reins of power away from him, maybe not.
"I don't see a win here."
That's a big understatement. The enormity of the loss suffered by the whole of the human species, here, from February 28th onward, has yet to sink in with renegade Republicans. or for that matter US residents in general. But, hey, Carlson and Weinstein are rich enough; they'll survive.
"If the Republicans get stomped in the midterms but somehow recover a workable majority of voters"
The Republicans should be imagining the possibility of either 1) they succeed in abolishing democracy in the US or 2) a Democratic Party own goal profound enough to breathe life into their own party.
"Gavin Newsom's going to be President if this continues on its current course."
It's quite possible that the people who make the real decisions have already selected our next President, and maybe it's Gavin Newsom, maybe it isn't.
"How do you restore confidence in the government after the government just admitted they got Americans killed on behalf of another country, which is what they've admitted"
Carlson seems to have forgotten how the duopoly works. People vote for the approved parties because they like one such party better than the other, not because they have any confidence in the government. US politicians are mere creatures of money; largely they are prisoners of the billionaires they themselves co-created. They believe in money, which is to say, nothing.
"I have long viewed the duopoly as unbeatable"
Once again, Trump didn't beat the duopoly. Weinstein is, however, smart enough to recognize that Iran was attacked because it was on the list.
"that he is surrounded by people who are, wittingly or not, showing him a picture that is unrealistic so that he would in fact put our military in harm's way and destabilize Iran, not understanding what the likely consequences are."
Iran is now more stable than it ever was. And Trump has very likely been shown a realistic picture of western Asia, and has also very likely dismissed the presenters of that picture (e.g. Tulsi Gabbard, once upon a time) himself. Trump doesn't read, doesn't listen to intelligence briefings, and falls asleep during meetings.
"He's over-rode his own instincts."
There are plenty of human abilities that disappear, cumulatively and slowly, with the onset of dementia.
"The reason that the Epstein phenomenon, whatever it was, was that it suggests a hidden power structure that was there for leverage. It is unfortunate that, in the edit that we have been shown, we don't have conclusive evidence of who, what they were after, or even how the leverage worked."
It seems fairly evident that, regardless of the who or what they were after, the leverage worked through blackmail, and that blackmailing, well, basically old white men, is how you control those who believe in nothing. Weinstein is smart enough, however, to recognize the existence of a "Deep State."
So there you have it, folks. Renegade Republicans are one of our least controlled oppositions, although they seem to have an impressively vast underestimate of how bad it's gotten. The United States, 342 million people fiddling while western Asia burns. What do these guys think their belief that Trump was a "genius" will get them?

Are you referring to

psychoanalysis of Trump
is extremely easy to do. He may or may not be as crazy as he acts. His act was honed as a player in the World Wrestling Federation. Pyschoanalysis of Fritz von Erich or any other big time wrestler would be a waste of effort.
A lot of people send fan mail to soap opera characters with sincere advice on how to deal with villains in the story. Trump is another soap star, playing the part of a power mad manipulator, like Victor in The Young and the Restless.
Maybe it is just acting. . . .
I cried when I wrote this song. Sue me if I play too long.

Which is pretty bad.
Zionism is a social disease
Here is what a quick search will reveal.
The New Republic was keeping tabs on this matter last year. There is a movement in Congress and elsewhere to remove him from office.
But such a search will also reveal "we can't tell" arguments such as the one provided by the Brennan Center in 2018, the year my Mom was dying of dementia, which argued:
Now, of course, their ability to hide stuff is quite prominent, and we are dealing with a Congress which has as its first priority the protection of a system which keeps money fountains and Epstein Islands in operation. Look, for instance, at how long they were able to preserve Joe Biden's career. But give it a few months. When everyone notices that most of western Asia has gone back to what it was in Ottoman times, when portions of Europe start to look like portions of Bangladesh, and when everyone finally notices that 20%-30% of global fossil fuel researves have been taken off of the market in the West and in portions of Asia, you will get a lot of "sudden" realizations: "oh, THAT'S why we weren't supposed to trust Donald Trump with planet Earth." And something will happen.
"I hang out with losers because it makes me feel better. I hate guys that are very, very successful and you have to listen to their success stories. I like people that like to listen to my success.” -- Donald Trump
