Friday Night Photos Lighthouse Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.

This months camera club outing was to Cabrillo National Monument at Point loma. While exploring the west coast Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo was the first European in California when the expedition landed in what is now San Diego bay in September 1542. Along with the nation monument Point Loma is also home to two lighthouses. The original lighthouse on the top of the point was built in 1855 and in use until 1891. Due to the all the fog at the top of the point a new lighthouse was built at the base of the point in 1891.

Love those pictures. Love those lighthouses where you can walk to the top and look at the Fresnel lens and see the wonderful view. The Point Carrillo Lighthouse is near Mendocino and when we were out there on our annual Monterrey to Mendocino hike, bike and camping trip we got to go up and see it up close. During the day, you could time yourself to try to get a picture of the blink of the lens. Beautiful trip for you I am sure.

Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.

This ain't no dress rehearsal!

I haven't been to the Point Carrillo Lighthouse, but I did look it up on line. A very nice looking lighthouse. I can see why you would make an annual trip there.

There’s a deep sense of nostalgia and loneliness (especially at night), in addition to being a beacon of hope and grounding, that comes with the beauty of lighthouses. I am a sucker for your spiral images. I hope for a light and bright comment from Q. Lighthouses don’t shine as bright without him.

I only have two photos to contribute. They are from a few years ago. My closest friend is visiting for a month, staying mostly with me, and I have done very little independent photography. These two reminded me of your latest contributions.

@janis b
It is interesting how often Mother Nature and man often align on design. As for Capt Q joining in and commenting, I'd be overjoyed.

right about the similarities in the spiraling curves of the lighthouse and the nautilus. Beautiful images!! :-). Being a water nut, I love that picture of the newer lighthouse with the calm sea rolling in. Is it at high tide? I miss my beach trips, but Hubster's (fellow water bug) skin cancer sensitivity comes first. I've got plenty of memories and photos to sustain me. Weather here has been righteous! Natives hate it, of course. I like it and I'm real close to being a native. LOL. And on that note....Rec'd!!

It was a few hours after high tide when we were out at the point. We are having some great weather right now. Sunny and low 80s.
