McClatchy Connects the Dots from Panama Papers to Clinton

Hi All,
This is my first ever essay on Caucus99Percent. There's an article in well-respected, bias-free McClatchy News (mcclatchydc.com) today which I hope you'll make time to read. It names names (of shell companies, locations, money amounts, people, timelines) of wealthy FOB (friends of Bill) whom Bill helped to establish offshore bank accounts, foreign introductions, shell companies, and trading relationships. There are tie-ins to the Clinton Foundation as well. Enjoy and please spread the wealth around elsewhere, like TOP.

A bit from the article:

...she [Clinton] and her husband have multiple connections with people who have used the besieged law firm Mossack Fonseca to establish offshore entities.

Among them are Gabrielle Fialkoff, finance director for Hillary Clinton’s first campaign for the U.S. Senate; Frank Giustra, a Canadian mining magnate who has traveled the globe with Bill Clinton; the Chagoury family, which pledged $1 billion in projects to the Clinton Global Initiative; and Chinese billionaire Ng Lap Seng, who was at the center of a Democratic fund-raising scandal when Bill Clinton was president. Also using the Panamanian law firm was the company founded by the late billionaire investor Marc Rich, an international fugitive when Bill Clinton pardoned him in the final hours of his presidency.

Dirty money and the people who collect it...buddies of the Clintons...really no surprise. We have so many shell companies right here. Here's a nice short (3 min) piece:

More to Come

The investigation into the the Panama Papers is still in a nascent stage--far more information is yet to be mined. After mining, the information will be refined, sifting out the clunkers while keeping the gems. The next stage is getting these leaked gems polished--i.e. ready for public perusal. It's only getting started. Think of Bernie Madoff's gigantic Ponzi Scheme. The Panama Papers will make Madoff's scam look like chump change.

It would be very interesting to follow

the (likely large) money flowing out of Panama, now that that way-station has been identified with names of shell corps to watch $$ flowing in and out. I'll bet some of that is in the leaked records. Or is no longer in Panama.

And what will be the Clinton excuse for having really rich crooks as colleagues? They could be strictly conduits, make other connections.

A group of media companies, McClatchy is among them, are being given unrestricted access to the voluminous trove of papers documenting client activities of Mossack Fonseca, naming names, strategies used to hide earnings, partners, money amounts, countries involved, etc. Expect more stories from McClatchy in the coming months, as their reporters sift through these materials.
