There is music, art, culture, history, insights, snark and sarcasm (you are welcome), and more. Others, either out of curiosity, morbid fascination, or those incapable of typing "carcinogen" properly do find their way here. And they feel better for it.

No need to reach out to TOS sufferers. Like those trying to masterbate with a potato peeler, pretty soon all you have is a bloody mess. In many ways, the pool of cess that Kos has deliberately concocted reminds me of the worse aspects of grade school, with a mindless, powerful mob-like "In" group that is so intent on conformity and intimidation, that they can't even see how they have begun crapping in their kitchen and telling themselves that it is a gourmet diet.

But for his whiny army of sock and hosiery puppets, it would resemble the Gnab Gib, as described by Sir Douglas Adams.

Seriously, those who enjoy smart commentary will find their way on their own.

I deleted TOP shortcut icon from my screen and replaced it with this site. Haven't felt the need or desire to go there anymore. I can go to HuffPo, Salon etc and get all the latest "news" that the FP over there copied and pasted for their posts. No withdrawal at all. Fuck the pseudo Democrat owner and all his tagalongs. I'll miss MB - at least his heart is in the right place, but the rest of the FPs I'll not miss at all. Should Hillary make it to the WH, I'll check back in and see how they're explaining the latest Middle East war we just sent boots into. Or why we just lost Net Neutrality. Or why our SS and Medicare just went to shit. Or why we just got another conservative on the court. "Oh it's the bad republicans!" is the song they'll be singing.
But most likely, should she win the nomination, I'll check back in to see how they're explaining the October surprise the repubs have been sitting on for months. With so much shit, I almost feel sorry for the GOP having to make the decision on which turd to use....

That guy is doing PRETTY GOOD with the FB shares. The most I have ever seen.
Actually I expect that we will be done out of the Democratic Nomination.
Then Bernie will have to decide if will run as a Green Party Candidate, or deprive the American People of Hope.
I also expect Trump to have the nomination take away from him, because basically Wall Street can not tolerate either one.
Then Trump is going to have to decide weather to run on the ticket of another party qualified to run a candidate in all 50 states.
I think Bernie wins a 4 way race going away.
But it would be much better for Down Ticket Dems if he gets to run as a Democrat.

Bill NEVER got a majority.
In a 4 way race the guy with the most votes wins, it only goes to the house in case of a tie in the electoral collage if I remember correctly.
Bernie gets 30% of the 30% who are Democrats and 70% of the 40% who are independents. That gives Bernie 35% to begin with.

Hillary gets 70% of Democrats, 21% of the electorate, and 10% of the independents 29% of the electorate or so
and Trump and Ivanka get probably 50%-70% of the Republicans and 20% of the independents which would give him 23- 29%
Cruz or whoever takes the rest.

If he could get 270 in a 4 way race, great. If not then the house decides.

The candidate who receives an absolute majority of electoral votes (currently 270) for the office of president or of vice president is elected to that office. The Twelfth Amendment provides for what happens if the Electoral College fails to elect a president or vice president. If no candidate receives a majority for president, then the House of Representatives will select the president, with each state delegation (instead of each representative) having only one vote. If no candidate receives a majority for vice president, then the Senate will select the vice president, with each senator having one vote. On four occasions, most recently in 2000, the Electoral College system has resulted in the election of a candidate who did not receive the most popular votes in the election.[6][7]

It hasn't been used since 1824.

In 1876 Congress impanelled a three-part jury (five House, five Senate, five Supreme Court) to decide the election. It went along strictly party lines.

In 2000 the Supreme Court horned in and decided unilaterally - along party lines.

We will get the President the Supreme Court wants. Guaranteed.

The 4-way race is usually the last one measured, when one believes that Sanders' goal is to become president. But, if that were his major goal, he would have abandoned the primary race a long time ago.

Without a singular quest to become president, that rules out Bernie running as a Green. (Their own modest goal in 2016 is to achieve just 5 percent of the vote, which will bring them Federal funding for the next election.) Besides, Bernie has always caucused with the Democrats, as a United States senator. Without doubt, he will continue to do so.

I think it's pretty clear that the Republican convention will be a top-down contested one. And, if they're going to go to all that trouble, then they already have a dark horse ready to go. Probably Jeb. Neither Trump nor Cruz have the Party's permission to become a Republican President. Even they have standards.

The scenario you left out is the possibility that the Democratic Convention will be contested, as well. I've looked at the math, and I don't think Hillary will come up with enough "real" delegates to eliminate the need for a floor vote. This will be coming from the bottom up, and could be a very dangerous moment for the Democratic bosses. Over the next two months, the other 50 percent of Democrats are going to emerge from their decades-long coma. God only knows where that will lead.

All we really know for sure is that the 2106 election is going to be hoarked beyond the reach of historical experience.

IMO, of course.

If the Clinton Machine ousts Bernie and us, then I think the best ticket would be Bernie as VP with Jill Stein as President on the Green Party ticket. Stein will not relinquish the top spot to Bernie nor should she. She has held them together for quite a while. But I would guess that the combination of all of us voting for a Stein-Bernie ticket and also voting for the good down ballot Dems like Canova, Flores, et. al., could get us what we want. Who know? But desperate times require desperate measures.

I understand that both Trump and Bernie originally began to run as anti-Wall Street message candidates and have been quite surprised at how damned fed up the electorate is with puppets and the shit sandwich.

Bernie would have never been on that debate stage if he had not run as a Democrat.
But now leading EVERY OTHER CANDIDATE in the national polls that is not going to be a problem.

I believe the now he knows that he carries the hope of a great number of people with him he will decide to run as a Green if he is denied the Democratic Nomination and the offer is made.

I am just wondering if the news blackout will resume and the internet will crash. I just hope that that is off the table because if would cause such economic Chaos that the PTB could not afford it.

and has to work with the Democrats. If he ran third-party (either on his own or on a ticket with Stein) and Clinton ended up losing, he'd likely be blamed and the Senate establishment would have no hesitations in punishing him by taking away all his plum committee assignments and making sure he gets nothing done in the time he has left in DC.

Look...

What Sanders has done is absolutely historic by financing a $170 Million Dollar campaign solely on the backs of working people, and even outraising the faces of the Establishment: Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton.

If he were to just turtle-up, quit, and throw his support behind and endorse the same corrupt face and forces of the Establishment that he campaigned so courageously against -- this then just makes a mockery out of the whole political 'revolution'.

The movement will then die, and Clinton will probably lose the election anyway because Independents have never liked her to begin with, and she stands for nothing except more Wars, more Corporatism, and more b.s.

So Sanders must continue on no matter what. He has come too far to pretend nothing ever happened. He built a movement that could produce 35%-40% of the vote in the General Election. He absolutely needs to combine forces with Jill Stein, and get that whole block of voters to show up and finally vote in their own interests for once.

You can't keep voting for the Oligarchy, and then hope that things will get better. They won't.

And even if Trump wins, the whole left would be united against him. But if Clinton wins, like Obama, the left will then put its head in the sand, and act like The DailyKos, and ignore all the bad policy and the damage -- and the Revolution will be dead for 8 more whole years.

Bernie Sanders has enough of a following to run a successful 3-way race between Trump, Clinton, and himself. The challenge would be real.

Now is not the time to give up. He could easily win the General Election as a separate ticket without the DNC/DLC Party apparatus interfering with his path. He created a 7 million donor base. So he could really do this -- especially with Trump running to the left of Clinton on some issues.

Bernie Sanders must go on.
The Revolution must go on.
It is The status-quo that cannot continue to go on.

Run Bernie Run !!!

I watched the video. It was polite, and Senator Sanders preached his message. I know that, even if many did not agree with his point of view on several issues, they will remember that he reached out to them, that he did not ignore them. The crowd cheered and yelled a warm welcome for him. His response to the abortion question was uncompromising to his principles and yet sensitive to the convictions of his audience. He worked hard to express shared values on social ethics, just as he has done in his remarks recently at the Vatican.

Thank you Cali scribe and thank you wilderness voice for calling attention to this speech. It demonstrates a consistent approach to building a coalition with those who identify strongly with "conservative" Christian ethical and moral values. The difference between Senator Sanders and other politicians who do the same is that Senator Sanders is attempting to build an inclusive society which serves everyone, rather than categorizing a group of people as a voting commodity to be exploited in order to hold society at large hostage.

This is an important candidate and an important campaign message for the United States, if for no other reason. We can respect one another, and work to change each other's minds, if we do not let the voices of the psychotic classes manipulate us.

Peace and love be with you, reader.

he will get a few crossovers. Not many, but the crossovers he gets are not the mythical "undecided" voters, but people who would normally cast their votes in the "R" column. Far better than triangulating, and swinging just a few % of traditional R voters makes a major difference in the outcome of a national election.

In my state of Oregon, you have to be registered as an R or a D to vote in our closed primaries. More and more, I am realizing that the Democratic Party is not at all the party for me. Oh it sells you a pretty tickets, but the dance hall is closed to people like me. I would never vote Rapepublican.

It's one thing to be betrayed and bullied by Republicans. It's another when the very people you struggled for turn around and stab you. I think Obama's "looking forward" moment was when I knew that I had been bedazzled and bullshitted. I've had it with the lies and the condescending ways of the Ds.

The only reason I register as a Dem is so that I can vote. But I will not be told to shut my uppity mouth and vote along party lines. Hillary is a fucking liar, warhawk and a damn Republican. In fact, I've protested her more than other person except for Bush. And at one point I protested Hillary for voting as if she were Bush.

Many others have given up on the Party of D. Many that I've spoken with here are sick they have to register as a D to vote for Bernie. So many more knew before me that the Democrats either cave or are corrupt.

I've heard too many say they would NEVER vote for either Trump or Hillary and they say each name with the same anger. Hillary or Trump... that's no choice for so many. Many aren't even bothering to vote because they know the system is so rigged. Amounts for each state.... we need to do what other first world countries do... Popular Vote. Make each vote truly count.

It's not HER time... it's OURS.

I truly worry that if either Trump or HRC wins, that this country is going to divide into utter mayhem.

I'm working for Bernie. The precious energy we give over to Kos could be better spent phonebanking. Anyone can do it. Or sign up to register people to vote or team up to canvass. It's so much healthier for ya. Smile

The mayhem part appears to me as the preferred outcome, believe it or not. The worst outcome would be if Sanders endorses Clinton, the "political revolution" packs up its bags and goes home, and the nice liberals retreat into their standard Democrat tribalism/ quietism while President Clinton Mark Two issues forth with new and more extensive wars and syndicate rule at home.

I support the Sanders campaign, mind you, but part of me believes that if he drops the ball, we'll be lost.
