question everything

@QMS One of my minor pet peeves is that after Thanksgiving a number of major radio stations in the area switch to nothing but Christmas music. They play the same songs over and over. All are might call them secular or pagan. Like who knew a reindeer and a snow man were a major figures in the Christian pantheon.

@janis b Hey J!

Thank you for all the vids! All very good. This last one is particularly spectacular. I can't believe her voice and his bass playing. Pure awesomeness.

Thanks!

Hope you had a good one!

and yet both the most truthful, and the most accessible (to any east coaster/rocker/superannuated punk, anyway), might be this immortal ditty:

@dystopian

that you'd already posted it. But it really is one of my favorite seasonal songs...

I always breathe a huge sigh of relief once all the packages are opened and the whole Christmas thing is done. Christmas got utterly destroyed for me in my college and immediate post-college years: having to buy very expensive plane tickets to get home for the duty dance, when I barely had money to keep a roof over my head and food in my belly, really made me resent the whole thing. I've never gotten over that. My parents have been gone for many years, so my wife and I have very low key Christmases- but I still approach the whole season with a sense of dread. Now that it is done, I can relax and enjoy New Years.

Happy New Year, everybody...

@usefewersyllables Howdy UFS

You sound a lot like us... Wink

Yeah man that song is a classic, and a great one. Their vid is hilarious too...

My wife and I are somewhat to fairly anti-social about the holidays as well. I've been telling her all day her favorite day of the year is boxing day, because she keeps saying "It's over', over and over. LOL

It certainly is not by accident we live in a place that is just too damn inconvenient to get to. ROFL MIL.

I would dread going to an airport at this season though. Those parents should be picking up the tab...

Growing up my family often went on a camping trip since a few days off. The last few years I was at home when they were teachers, we went on two-week trips, birding. Mysdys and I often would go birding when I was not doing a Christmas Bird Count. Wake us when its over. Now we live in what most would consider a camping situation so do not have to go anywhere to be away from it and out of the fray. Maybe one or two cars down the dirt road each of last couple days. Quiet is good.

Have a great one!
