if you would drown, day in and day out, in German and European radio and TV presentation of documentaries, which are quite good btw., and then read here on c99p, it will grow some grey hair and is indeed "something to everyone" And that is simply good.
ok, where is my lullaby?
I apologize if my headline was too provocative. I just can't control my emotions anymore. You don't live here and I would say, by happy you don't.

beer will be hard to get in Germany, maybe the EU countries, due to the
shortage of the bubbles making ingredient? That's gonna be bad for Germany and IrelandAnd for professional drunkards! And tourists!

c99 is BOTH (a pro-Russian propaganda site or a bullying anti-German and anti-EU hate propaganda site). And I can guarantee you that if I had posted a statement about Russian propaganda or anti-EU bullying, I would not have received the same kind of gentle response that you did. It is indeed harder to be a very old member here than a new one. The old site would have allowed counter positions about, for example, the nature of Putin and the war, including back and forth, etc. Now if you offer a view that Putin is a raging war mongering monster, you are dismissed as a tool of MSM and not a team c99 player.
Thanks for opening the door.
I wish you peace and wellness.

Do you mean like when covid discussion was allowed here and you were adamant that it be shut down. Is that the back and forth you mention?
There is plenty of back and forth, until the insults fly. Some people willingly ignore that fact.

You mean like being told your children were ignorant for choosing to be vaccinated?
What I complained about regarding The Dose conversations was the fact that the conversation became dominated by those who felt that their views and information (anti vax, pro Ivermectin) were the only ones that should be regarded as factual, and those who held other opinions and facts were dupes. Talk about insults? It was an every day experience not only for me, but for others too. I felt like it was a turning point in this site that was not healthy for any kind of solid community. My complaints came from a place of real concern for a site that had become a very welcome refuge from the division and nastiness of Daily Kos.
I am very sorry that you can not see that my concerns come from a place of fondness rather than rancor. I even two Caucus 99 ball caps.

about how conspiracy type POVS tend to be held by religious people. I'm not saying that there isn't some truth about our country's culpability in making issues worse with Russia, but I can't go to the thinking that Putin was "forced" in any way to attack Ukraine. And personally, as an atheist, I usually cast a fish eye on opinions about world affair "facts" being given by someone who holds supernatural beliefs.

and factual reporting. I did not claim anything about "atheist war commentators", and frankly I don't think that there are a lot of atheist world leaders.
Second, "Not recognizing the NATO plan for this war is a difficult mental acrobatic trick." So you are saying that I have a thinking problem because I don't see what you see in the news, or I rely on the wrong sources? What exactly do you mean by this? Shall I view this remark as an insult?
Third, I said nothing about you, or your beliefs, nor did I say anything about everyone else on this site. I pointed out what I had been reading lately about the connection between religious thinking and conspiracy theories. In fact, the Peacock streaming service, which I do not get, has a new documentary called "Shadowland" that addresses this particular issue. The world view that every event in the world is the result of some group or another conspiring to manipulate it or cause it can certainly be labeled as conspiracy thinking.... for example, the statement that Covid was cooked up in a lab and released as part of some "new world order" scheme is certainly not a factual statement, but it does demonstrate a conspiracy POV in general.
Fourth, if you go looking for insults, you are bound to find them.

xox, can't forget your granddaughter kissing her dog. Best little video to make me smile and laugh.
Hope everything is ok with you. I am scared that my son looses it. But what is there to loose anyway? Seems to me everything is lost already.
I try to be strong and grab life, as JtC told me to do. Who would be that insane to grab that kind of bullshit life? Shit bulls, like my magistrate around here. WTF, not worth to think about it.
All the best to you and your family. I so wished I had the money, eye sight and physical health to come back to the US and HI. I hate long distance relationships. They are dommed for disaster.
As if we have not enough disasters yet.
It is calming to realize you are still there somewhere in the hemisphere. Thanks.
I hope you find calmness wherever you can and with your son in this messed up world of ours. Hawaii is quite a benign place to be, even with its challenges.

With such a wide array of media available a discerning follower of current events can be fairly informed for free without subscribing to much of anything. Unfortunately sometimes one is exposed to information contrary to one's assumptions, in such a media rich environment one can, open one's mind and read more widely or one can restrict oneself to ideas and information that confirm and support one's own biases.
Eventually if one heads in the latter direction it leads to conspiracy theory such as the covid/immunization mess, or even worse pro authoritarian leanings, as with the Putin thing, a government which probably exemplifies the closest thing to Fascism in the world today.
Sometimes the conspiracy mongering can be harmful, after all how many would still be alive if not for the anti vax nuts? Other times they are simply silly and disregarded by both the left and the right as with Ukraine.
I stop by and read every few days just for a schadenfreude fix. It doesn't take a genius to see how the war in Ukraine is going, or where it has come from, and information on the war is unavoidable even on the pro Russian propaganda websites as the regime seeks to spin a humiliating loss.
A long read, but definitely puts things together in a way that makes sense to me. This paragraph in particular seems to sum up what I see mostly on "progressive" sites now.
"On the progressive left, the motivation is less any perceived alignment with Putin’s policies and more just plain distrust of U.S. foreign policy. Many Americans in these political circles are very invested in the narrative that the United States is a bad international actor that has caused a lot of pain abroad through various wars (most notably, but not exclusively: Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam). As a result, they reflexively default to the viewpoint that whatever the U.S. policy is toward a foreign conflict, it must be self-interested or even imperialist. This is why many leftists end up repeating the pro-Kremlin framing of NATO expansion as unilateral American imperialism and, even more bizarrely, citing figures like Mearsheimer—and even Kissinger, a traditional enemy of the American left—to support their point."

Yes, the US has done some really stupid, even evil stuff, the list is long. One thing though is that while we misuse our military we don't try to absorb other countries, we've no wars with Canada nor Mexico (not for a long time).

Just what would you call that besides the truth? Do you think America would sit back and just watch as Russia started putting its military in countries closer and closer to America or do you think they would do everything in their power to stop them? Have you forgotten what the Cuban military crisis was about? And while you denigrate John Mearsheimer you accept the foreign policy site which is funded by the military and the government. Just like you often quote the Atlantic which is NATO/ government funded. Go figure.
Are either of you aware that America has killed well over 20 million people in the countries it invaded or overthrew governments and has displaced well over 60 million? Do you seriously believe that our military is a force for good and not for imperialism and asset stealing. It must be nice living in your world where it’s rah, rah, rah for the red, white and blue and overlooking the carnage we’ve done to countless countries.
I remember this clearly too. It was a point of pride and self-confidence that we did not feel the need to be so ostentatious. A decade of austerity, awful government, and the worst press in the world constantly obfuscating the source of our problems, has reduced us to insecurity. https://t.co/JmQcopeZYt

Smedley's book should be read in every high school and especially in the ones that have military recruiters trying to rope people into the biggest killing machine in recent history. We’ve only had 16 years of peace since the country was formed and Clinton blew the chance for world peace after the USSR collapsed. And the people involved with moving NATO closer to Russia’s borders are still in control of the government.
Those that deny that it’s NATO's encroachment on Russia must have missed the many times America has stated that Russia needs to be broken up so others can take its resources. Or that Biden has called for regime change in Russia and that Putin must go? La, la, la I have my fingers in my ears and I can’t hear you. NATO finally crossed one too many of Russia’s red lines and the people there know exactly why Russia is doing what it is. Zelensky also owns their reaction by saying that Ukraine was going to start building nuclear weapons. America tells other countries that they cannot build them, but then bitches when Russia does the same for Ukraine. Fcking hypocrites. How many people have we killed by our illegal sanctions on Iran because Israel has been lying for decades about Iran was building nukes?
In so many comments about Russia it’s obvious that Americans have no idea what their own country has done since forever. Everyone in America should get a mirror for Xmas this year and maybe they can remove the log in their eyes and see how much they’ve been propagandandized by their own country.

that doesn’t address what I said. So much for your wish for back and forth debate. Instead you ignore what I said and just bring back old accusations. Care to do it now or will you just hide behind your victimhood like you did in your 1st comment here. Mimi asked a question and you made it about you. And offered no proof that this site is what you said it is. So either put up some proof of us being anti Germany and anti EU or….I’m sure you can fill in the rest.
There's no such thing as "back and forth" with you. There is only you lecturing me about how pitiful I am for not learning the real truths about topics from you, or accepting your sources, or buying into your overarching "the world is conspiring against us" POV. I get some of it, but your replies to me are mostly an excuse to repeat over and over again how totally wrong I am about everything. Some time you might want to review all the posts you've sent my way and take a real clear look at them. I don't think even you would want to have a back and forth with you.

Originally a place for Bernie Sanders supporters as an alternative to DK, it now seems to be 90% old music, videos of who knows what, various things about gardening etc.
Wrong. c99 existed for well over a year before the the Bernie Sanders supporters came here. c99 was never a Bernie Sanders site, folks came here at that time because of our open discussion policy and they would not be banned for supporting Bernie. After Bernie capitulated most of those folks left c99.
What was c99 like before the great migration from Daily Kos? Pretty much like it is now.
Your bias is showing if all you glean from c99 is "90% old music, videos of who knows what, various things about gardening etc." Your condescension is duly noted.
Now you're getting the hang of it. c99 is open to both the left and the right. If that bruises your confirmation bias then just deal with it. c99 is not going to change because it offends your tender sensibilities.

You just don't get the open discussion thing do you? That is a trait of an authoritarian. You seem very afraid to discuss anything other than your own bias.

There's not much I can say or do for you if you chose to be willfully blind of other positions on issues. You do realize that it's because of our open discussion policy that you are allowed your opinion here, right? If not you would have been long gone.

Examples of your claims regarding CC99?
Would you be so kind as to post examples of the derogatory claims you've made against this forum?
As a new member, I have not seen these things but maybe you are seeing something or interpreting items in a way that I am not.
Thanks

c99 will...
grow hair on your head, armpits and legs. It will cure ticks and fleas on your dog and will sing sweet lullabies until you fall fast asleep. It will provide shade in the winter and warmth in the summer. It can slam dunk a hockey puck over the goal post while churning cactus butter. c99 is all things to all people and is nothing to no one (the double negative is intentional for the sake of redundancy).
Hope that helps.
You are my most beloved writer, administrator and mystery man
is that ok with you?
if you would drown, day in and day out, in German and European radio and TV presentation of documentaries, which are quite good btw., and then read here on c99p, it will grow some grey hair and is indeed "something to everyone" And that is simply good.
ok, where is my lullaby?
I apologize if my headline was too provocative. I just can't control my emotions anymore. You don't live here and I would say, by happy you don't.

Mimi- my personal response to your two initial questions is
c99 is BOTH (a pro-Russian propaganda site or a bullying anti-German and anti-EU hate propaganda site).

Bull. Shit.
Do you mean like when covid discussion was allowed here and you were adamant that it be shut down. Is that the back and forth you mention?
There is plenty of back and forth, until the insults fly. Some people willingly ignore that fact.
The insults fly...

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Your post reminds me that recently I have seen articles
about how conspiracy type POVS tend to be held by religious people.
"Ray McGovern works with Tell the Word, a publishing arm of the ecumenical Church of the Saviour in inner-city Washington."

Not sure, but I think you just called me, and others on the site, cts.
How is that not an insult?
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
First- I gave you my personal take on religious thinking
and factual reporting.

Hope everything is ok with you. I am scared that my son looses it. But what is there to loose anyway? Seems to me everything is lost already.

All the best to you and your family. I so wished I had the money, eye sight and physical health to come back to the US and HI. I hate long distance relationships. They are dommed for disaster.

Good grief..
No we just go in and squat on their territory. Have you forgotten how big the green zone is in Iraq? How about the military squatting on 1/3rd of Syria and stealing their oil? How about our huge bases in Germany, Japan, Afghanistan and so many other countries? Do you know what country Gitmo is in?
Putin isn’t going to make you homeless or kill you or deny you health care.
Your government will allow it to happen though.
I believe the most decorated general in US history
We don't claim Puerto Rico? Or recall the battle Panama fought to reclaim their canal?
Hell, without US support, Texas would still be part of Mexico.
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Absolutely
Putin isn’t going to make you homeless or kill you or deny you health care.
Your government will allow it to happen though.
I still like your last apologetics statement about Putin better
"Without the right to offend, freedom of speech does not exist." Taslima Nasrin
Another pithy reply
that doesn’t address what I said.
Putin isn’t going to make you homeless or kill you or deny you health care.
Your government will allow it to happen though.
Oh come on Snoop...
"Without the right to offend, freedom of speech does not exist." Taslima Nasrin
I didn't know you were an expert in c99 history...
let me help you out on a few things.
Wrong. c99 existed for well over a year before the the Bernie Sanders supporters came here. c99 was never a Bernie Sanders site, folks came here at that time because of our open discussion policy and they would not be banned for supporting Bernie.
Did you just psychoanalyze yourself? You are one of the most closed minded individuals that visits this site. Check yourself, dude.
