Russian business newspaper Kommersant has reported that, during a high profile diplomatic meeting in Moscow, Liz Truss told her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov that Britain did not recognise Russian sovereignty over the Rostov and Voronezh regions in the South West of the Russian Federation.
In a report since picked up by the Times, Kommersant alleged that Truss had said that Russia must withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian border. Lavrov, who has been Russia's Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2004, countered that they were perfectly entitled to move anywhere within Russian territory. After Truss repeated her demand, Lavrov asked her whether she recognised Russian sovereignty over the Voronezh and Rostov regions, which border Ukraine and have seen a significant build-up of armed men and materiel in recent months.
Apparently, Truss responded that Britain would "never" recognise Russian sovereignty over the two regions. According to the Times, the British Ambassador to Moscow then reminded her that Rostov and Voronezh were very much inside Russia.
If the report is accurate, it would be the latest in a string of gaffes made by the Tory Leadership favourite since the start of the Russo-Ukraine crisis. She had previously referred to Russia being invaded by Mongols and Tatars, as if the two were separate events, and later confused the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea.
At the press conference after Ms. Truss dropped her latest Russian history and geography clanger, Lavrov rubbed in the humiliation, saying the meeting had been like a "comedy" and "talking to a deaf person".
Difficult as it is to believe the UK might miss BoJo, the clown. I'm sure they'll miss the Queen.

The Queen was said to be a 'creature of habit' and until the age of 95, she enjoyed a daily gin and Dubonnet immediately before lunch. However, doctors advised her to give up her preferred drink for health reasons in 2021.

truth is considered foreign influence, world peace is a threat to national security
With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, humanity, and in particular, western civilization, has lost an absolute giant. She was a remarkable person from a remarkable era. She will be missed.
Her successor, on the other hand, can best be understood as the WEF (World Economic Forum) king. King Charles is truly a king for our times, in the worst possible way imaginable. He is a perfect representation of the western ruling class and its pernicious agenda.
At the onset of COVID Mania, Charles sat down with World Economic Forum leader Klaus Schwab, in which the pair excitedly championed a “Great Reset” to “solve the climate crisis and restore the natural world.” In a podcast with Schwab, Charles advocated “carbon pricing” of goods and a “net zero” agenda, which, of course, would result in mass human suffering.
Finally, I can get a sense of what it feels like to be a Patriot in the time of the American Revolution. Charles is a king worthy of our disdain. He has embraced the evil ideologies of our times. He represents a series of radical movements that seek to impose ruin upon the masses, to the benefit of the ruling class. Charles is no king of the people. He is the WEF king.
This excerpt is highly selective edited because there is so much in the essay that I don’t agree with or I can’t confirm. I only follow him for his take on Covid and find that he’s too far on the right for my tastebuds. But he’s correct about Bonny King Charles being involved with the odious WEF and Schwab. Too bad that gawd didn’t save the queen.

I had honestly been kind of hoping that archaic-aristocracy - who're supposed to at least have been raised with ancient ideas of noblesse oblige and a sort of mystical link to the land, as well as a newly-imposed sense of humility that would kind of require them to chum up with the people in order to keep their positions - might help serve as an additional axis of opposition to new, kulak aristocracy, of whom all of those things are very pointedly untrue, or even inverted.
This sounds to me like multiple levels of the blind leading the blind.

and all I ever heard on the radio were stories from those here who met with the queen, or whose parents did. She visited here 10 times during her 70 year reign. Actually, they were interesting stories to listen to, even for me who has so little knowledge of or affiliation with her.

I wonder now whether NZers will formally change to a republic after all the grieving?
People remember what she did during the war as they remember what her mum did then too. I remember when she bowed to Diana's casket as it drove by the palace and I thought that was nice of her. The newsmen said that the queen bows to no one so that elevated her in my view. Other than that I really don’t know much about her. Britains seem to like her though.
Charles on the other hand has never impressed me. The royals seem kinda redundant.

You’re right that it’s just her age that makes it look like that. I was watching Diana's funeral live when the queen did that and the news people were shocked that she did that. I don’t think there was any love lost between them, but that was a graceful gesture I thought.
Sam… what can I say? She is doing well and still entertaining me daily with her antics. No matter where I hide my socks from her she finds them and is so proud when she brings them to me. She had a wonderful time camping and made sure that I was safe from flying grasshoppers. There’s never a dull moment with her. When I back the convertible out of the drive she’s looking to make sure that I do it right by planting her paws on the back seat and watching where I’m going. My neighbors laugh watching when she does that. So do I.
I didn't hear that story, but it does express a respectful side of the queen.
In the photo that Lookout posted it looks as if the queen is bowing to Truss, but more likely it was just her physiology at 96.
How's Sam?

I guess it's a good thing Mexican food isn't terribly common in Britain, otherwise she'd have a goddamn clone-army in every tortilla!

@janis b
Mexicans and Americans seeing (and, of course, even trying to capitalize on) Shroud of Turin-like pareidolic "miracles" in food and other everyday things is an old joke. Back in the '000s, TV comedian Carlos Mencia - whom I NEVER thought I'd miss, but goddamnit could we use him now! - even had a little song about it on his show (I looked for a clip to put in the above post, in fact, but couldn't find one).
What a strange story. Amazing how a burn mark on a tortilla can bring serenity and love, as Maria describes her experience.
This made me laugh ... “Of course Jesus is going to appear on a tortilla,” Arellano says. “He’s not going to appear on fucking caviar.”
Hopefully we all find what we're looking for.
