The way the US government has danced around the Geneva restrictions on bioweapons is
they proclaim the research is dual purposed. What has yet to be explained is how Fauci et.al
were able to fund 'gain of function' on viruses in Wuhan. Dual purpose? Bad and murderous.
It will take a huge amount of bleach to sanitize this one.
Germany and US investing in biowarfare in Ukraine will certainly get the Russians more

Author Sheldon H. Harris researched the history of Japanese Biological warfare and the American cover-up extensively. Harris and other scholars found that U.S. intelligence authorities had seized the Japanese researchers' archive after the technical information was provided by Japan. The information was transferred in an arrangement that exchanged keeping the information a secret and not pursuing war crimes charges. The arrangement with the United States concerning Japanese WMD research provided extensive Japanese technical information in exchange for not pursuing certain charges and also allowed Japan's government to deny knowledge of the use of these weapons by Japan's military in China during World War II.[12] German scientists in Europe also skipped war crimes charges and went to work as U.S. employed intelligence agents and technical experts in an arrangement known as Operation Paperclip.[13]

The U.S. would not cooperate when the Soviet Union attempted to pursue war crimes charges against the Japanese. General Douglas MacArthur denied the U.S. Military had any captured records on Japan's military biological program. "The U.S. denial was absolutely misleading but technically correct as the Japanese records on biological warfare were then in the custody of U.S intelligence agencies rather than in possession of the military".[3] A formerly top secret report by the U.S. War Department at the close of World War II, clearly stipulates that the United States exchanged Japan's military technical information on BW experimentation against humans, plants, and animals in exchange for war crimes immunity.[13] The War department notes that, "The voluntary imparting of this BW information may serve as a forerunner for obtaining much additional information in other fields of research."[14] Armed with Nazi and Imperial Japanese biowarfare know-how, the United States government and its intelligence agencies began conducting widespread field testing of potential CBW capabilities on American cities, crops, and livestock.[3]

It is known that Japanese scientists were working at the direction of the Japan's military and intelligence agencies on advanced research projects of the United States including America's covert biomedical and biowarfare programs from the end of World War II through at least the 1960s.

Turns out the US military, in cooperation with the Smithsonian was involved in just such questionable research back ing the 60's and 70's as part of the military's SHAD program carried out in the Western Pacific as part of Project 112:

The Pacific Project exposed U.S. sailors to biowarfare and chemical agents. Forty years later, some of these sickened warriors are still ‘lost’ at sea.

In all, we were to learn, 50 or so operations had been conducted during the ‘60s by about 20 ships transporting more than 6,400 sailors. The Granville S. Hall and the George Eastman were the flagships of the fleet, with five tugs as the workhorses in the experiments. In a typical test, the ships were deployed as targets arrayed in lines, diamonds or other patterns, with vessels at five, 15, 30, 50, 75 and 100 miles downwind of the dissemination line. The boats would “lay to” at night along the line, waiting for a Marine A4D Skyhawk or Marine F-4D Phantom jet to swoop by, “capping the T” at the top of the line with an aerosol spray.

During the initial tests, three simulants were used: the “harmless” bacteria Bacillus globigii, a stand-in for anthrax; Serratia marcescens, another bacteria; and the “benign” chemical zinc cadmium sulfide. Subsequent tests used the “real McCoy,” and the sailors later decontaminated the ships with beta-propiolactone and ethylene oxide, harsh disinfecting cleansers.

The first open-air “hot germ” tests took place in 1965. Operation Shady Grove was conducted over the Pacific downwind of Johnston Atoll, about 800 miles southwest of Hawaii. In the final phase, barges loaded with rhesus monkeys were “challenged” with weaponized Q fever and rabbit fever. The monkeys were doused and taken to Johnston Atoll. Half of them died.

And what of the exposed sailors? That’s proven a lot harder to pin down. Because the nature of the tests was kept hidden from the public for so long, those serving on the Hall and Eastman have had a difficult time telling their secrets, even when they’ve come down with debilitating ailments. For years, no authority would acknowledge that their illnesses might be related to biological warfare experiments in the Pacific. Their initial petitions to the Veterans Administration (now the Department of Veterans Affairs) for medical assistance and compensation fell on deaf ears.

Finally, in 2001, the rumors I had first heard about the Pacific Project were confirmed when the Pentagon—under pressure from Congress and following investigative reports in the New Yorker and on CBS News—reluctantly admitted that the U.S. had conducted a sweeping test program involving chemical and germ warfare agents.

But just what happened to the so-called test conductors culled from the ranks of the Navy remains far from clear. At the time of the tests, some of these human guinea pigs reported respiratory irritation, illness and skin rashes. Because the cleansers and the simulants were not considered a health risk then, some sailors were not required to wear protective clothing or equipment during all the drills. Nor were their intake levels measured.

Later it was determined that for those with immune disorders, the supposedly harmless bacteria and chemicals could cause infections, allergic reactions, cancer—even death. As if this weren’t enough, both the Hall and Eastman had previously participated in atomic bomb tests, and rumors were that portions of the ship frames were eventually cut away because they were radioactive.

Little wonder that later in life, the vets reported diseases such as pancreatic and kidney cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a progressive neurological disorder called spinocerebellar degeneration, sarcoma, tumors, blinding headaches, lung problems, varicose veins and birth defects in their children.

Twenty years ago, a team of Smithsonian researchers landed on a string of remote Pacific islands to study the comings and goings of sea birds -- terns, albatrosses, gulls. But there was another reason they were there, one stamped "Secret." The leaders of this scholarly band of curators and ecologists reported their findings to military scientists whose interest was not birds but biological weapons.

The Pacific project was two separate missions existing side by side: the Smithsonian's and the Pentagon's. The Smithsonian was only too eager to be given funds to study bird migratory patterns and the military was eager to find "safe" sites for atmospheric testing of biological weapons in the Pacific. Such sites could be determined from the Smithsonian research.

An Army spokesman says military scientists wanted to be certain germs would not be spread beyond the test sites by migrating birds. Other military scientists also wanted to know if sea birds could be used as carriers of biological weapons, winging deadly disease across borders. In military terms, birds could be "avian vectors of disease."

The Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), which entered into force in 1975, prohibits the development, production, acquisition, transfer, stockpiling and use of biological and toxin weapons. But there's a fine line between military and civilian research and development, experts tell DW, which can be easily exploited for propaganda purposes.

The Russian allegations center around pathogens that cause plague, anthrax and diphtheria. Richard Guthrie, a British expert on chemical and biological warfare, believes such allegations are a common element of contemporary propaganda because rumors of biological weapons have such a powerful psychological effect.

"The main purpose of biological weapons is not necessarily to make a large number of people sick, he says, but to spread fear — "so that people don't want to go to a certain food or water source," for example.

A number of German biological weapons experts who have analyzed the Russian claims on behalf of the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg agree that stoking public fear is the main objective, and allude to Russian "misinformation." "There are bioweapons labs in Ukraine which are supported by the US and also Germany, but the research conducted there is not covert but extremely transparent," says Gunnar Jeremias, an expert on biological arms control."
