Happy Friday everyone. As always, post any photos you like.

Some hot rods from the recent Goodguys car show to go with the hot temps (100º yesterday and today).

Also had a Ford convertible. Fun times. Took my parents many decades to get another one that I inherited.

Thanks for the exhibition of truly exhibitionist autos. I love the coppery station wagon with matching surfboards - what style.

My favourite flower, the white ginger, is blooming now and the fragrance is intoxicating.

This is for Janis. Unfortunately, the willows when to seed/flower whatever, by the time I got a pic. It's been fast this year, as the weather has been so changeable. 72 the high yesterday, today it's 44!

@janis b

modern advertizing, or advertizing period?

i think that advertizing period as a western phenomenon started with artists advertizing rich people and churches. modern advertizing probably started with limners who painted signs of various sorts for businesses. at least that's my guess.

had advertisements. It's a very, very old business, as you point out. There is graffiti from Pompeii advertising things like food shops and so on. Advertisements are found along the Roman Wall in England too, and so on. I'm sure the Greeks had advertising too, I'm just not familiar with it.

@janis b I got my first muscle car when I was 14, and have driven fast bastards since. I learned to drive when I was 7, got my first car at age 11. Just in time for drag racing muscle cars!
Something about fast cars...or motorcycles...
I just love that little car. I drive it locally, rarely take it on a freeway. While I can outrun wrecks, it is small, hard for trucks to even see.
It is the car that draws young men to me to ask if they can please look under the hood. Of course, I oblige.
It will exceed 160 mph, although, not sure by how much. I just know there is still gas pedal room at 160 mph. An amazing machine, and still has less than 70,000 miles on the odometer.

@Socialprogressive It is just an awesome, autobahn thing. I am getting it a fresh paint job, might replace the top. If I act right, it gets about 30 mpg. Big if.
I bought it in 20012, with less that 50,000 miles. It was previously owned by a doctor. He left his info in the console, and I bought this used car before the dealership had time to clean it.
The doc had his fun. My turn.

Great pics all! Excellent car shots SP! Nice rides there. I wish I still had that sea green '64 T-bird with the sliding steering column, which moved a foot to the right, and stayed engaged so the person riding shotgun could steer, while I rolled... it was ostensibly for larger people to get in and out easily, being pre-tilt wheels.

Here in Japan there is a certain following for older American cars - always brightens my day to see one out on the road (tooling along in my 660CC three cylinder econo-box). Due to the fairly central location where I live - about halfway between Tokyo and Osaka - it's a convenient location for all-Japan events of various kinds and a couple times a year there are drive-in car events and I can see numbers of cool old cars on the road.

Have photos of various ones seen in the wild but can't seem to find them just now - here are a few from a local dealer's current stock, though:
