Friday Night Photos Dreaming Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 03/25/2022 - 5:00pm
Happy Friday everyone. As always, post any photos you like.
I spent a little time yesterday playing around on the deep dream generator website.
https://deepdreamgenerator.com/
The site has filters you can apply to your photos or you can load your own images to use as a filter.
Depending on the filter and the photo it's used on the results can range from underwhelming to spectacular.

Nice work Social
I like the final image most of all. I'd prefer to be in that shop rather than the original.
A couple images from a week and a half ago ...
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
For you

Thank you snoopy
There's something so beautiful and tactile about them, even in a photo. Your photo is wonderful.
I just read that the bark has salicin, a natural pain reliever which one easily make ...

Thanks
It’s been fun watching them bloom out this year. A family planted it recently for a loved one and they also feed the birds next to the stream.
There’s a bench next to the tree and I sit and watch the bees play on the buds. It’s a weeping tree and it seems to have bloomed early this year. The bees coat their stomach with the pollen and become more yellow as they fly off.
I always thought they grew on vines not trees cuz I’ve only seen them in flower arrangements. Live and learn.

I have such a strong memory
of them in the NE landscapes I lived in. They also make such beautiful cut arrangements, all by themselves

Hi, Snoopy.
Beautiful shot.
I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
Thanks Snoops. Wild looking.

I hope you are well and as content as possible in life.
A question for you dystopian
Do you know any birds in America that are able to fly through very dense forest with great speed and agility?
Here in the north east us we have Cooper’s Hawks
The Cooper’s Hawk

Hi ovals and el
I wish I could find a video or take one, of the endemic Tui in flight. I have never seen a flyer as fast and as able to navigate with such precision such densely covered forest (bush).
figures they'd be fast...

That's interesting dystopian
Hawks can hover and then descend at 120mph, plus.
Generally there's not a hawk in the vicinity when I observe the Tuis zooming by. I figure they're just in a hurry to get home or chasing another bird from it's territory.
The sharpshin hawk that Ovals mentioned also can do that.
I'm pretty sure that most chickadees and hummingbirds also have that talent depending upon what range of speeds you have in mind.

Thanks for the information and your funny interpretations.
The Kahu is the bird of prey I see here.
Thank you, Janis.
Nice shots.
I too like the mash up shot of the art shop more than the original.

I am often in a place that juggles the balance of light and dark, as I'm sure most of us are.
hi pixelators
Hi all, Hey SP! Neat stuff SP. Man those Chinese know how to do art. And isn't an orchid show in a class by itself?
Be well all!

Wonderful selection Moonbat
My favourites are the first and last one. The first, because it is thoroughly engaging in wonder and aesthetically pleasing. The last, because of essentially the same reasons, even though in style and media they are so different.
Cool stuff, Moonbat

3rd one is the famous "wraparound" cover to the
Ballantine paperback edition of The Lord of the Rings. (Left to right: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King.)
The artist hadn't read the book(s), but nevertheless managed to capture some of the essence of what it was about.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Great Pics!
Somewhere I have a sardonic variant of the last one -
It was shot out in the Mojave, vaguely near California City- with nothing all around as far as the eye can see and smack dab in the center is a dumpster piled high to overflowing with assorted refuse.

If not too much trouble
I'd like to see that!
I'd like to find it again, I took it ages ago, probably on film
but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Four minute crane fly hatch in dirt patch
Saw something wriggling in the dirt when I was down there sweeping up catkins and oak pollen, so ran and grabbed camera and magnifier. Science! lol Oak tree catkin debris always makes a Tobacco Road earworm fall out my lint trap, the one with Eric Burden usually. "gonna build me a new road". Right on. Anyway, even plain brown dirt produces life. Short and sweet.

Good morning, eyo.
Nice catch of the hatch in the dirt patch. Okay, that's enough rhyming for one morning.

Hi eyo
The exiting pupa are a treat. How neat that you observed it. Those kind of moments are so special. Thank you for photographing it for others to enjoy vicariously.
'Make dirt, not war' is as touching as the original expression.
Outstanding eyo!

My little posse of 5 orchids including one
rescued from an Arena garbage can are blooming and/or getting set to do so. I usually kill any plant I try and raise so I'm like THRILLED!! You all checked out the Oscars? Will Smith made a jackass out of himself. PO'ed me off cos it took away from Questlove's win for Best Documentary for The Summer of Soul. Anywho, always look for this posting every week.
