Walking with a friend we saw this where the trees thinned out and couldn’t believe our eyes. There was the sun looking like the man in the moon in children’s books. Taken when it was so smoky here. Anyone ever see it look like this?

Awesome primates SP! That Mandrill is quite the beast. Those males are amazing. Beautiful photos all! As a teen I spent a day a week one summer observing various primates at a place in Santa Ana (now the S.Ana Zoo) called Prentiss Park at the time. It was free. It had 30 huge cages with all sorts of different species. Smaller stuff no Apes. Gibbons, Rhesus, Siamang, Howler, Spider, etc. It was awesome. Fascinating amazing animals. GREAT pix!

Awesome primates SP! That Mandrill is quite the beast. Those males are amazing. Beautiful photos all! As a teen I spent a day a week one summer observing various primates at a place in Santa Ana (now the S.Ana Zoo) called Prentiss Park at the time. It was free. It had 30 huge cages with all sorts of different species. Smaller stuff no Apes. Gibbons, Rhesus, Siamang, Howler, Spider, etc. It was awesome. Fascinating amazing animals. GREAT pix!

awhile to name them, trying different combinations. Finally George and Ira seemed just right. Not sure the Gershwins would have appreciated the homage, but we like it and it suits them.

kittehs we rescued from our ditch about this time last year. George is the grey semi fluffy one and Ira is a teeny tiny miniature panther - sleek, dark black and disappears when he blinks.
Teckels have been bred from a 60/40 mix of Dachshund and Terrier to become a new race. They are natural hunters, working in pairs to chase a Sanglier (Boar) or a Blaireau (Badger) towards a hunter, who is standing on a platform with a long gun. They each work from one side moving the wild animal toward the hunter, who then shoots from a high position.
These dogs in some countries are more for conformation (size, color, shape) but in mid European countries they are bred for hunting and highly prized at 700 euros and up for a puppy who responds well to specific stimuli.
